Do you try to get a 'hot' christmas gift..Updated--got 1!!!

Just for the challenge of finding it??

I am trying to get a couple of the zip zaps from Radio Shack and the idea of not being able to get them makes it more of a challenge to buy one.....I don't really need one since I got a Nikko at Toys R Us(Well RS is $10 cheaper)...

Does the idea of being able to not find something make you try harder to find it or do you just forget about it?

I have also bought into that "sick, twisted" mindset thing of finding a hot toy tht is practically impossible to find.

It's the challenge and the rush of adrenaline when you score the darn thing. We're sick, man, sick!!

Thankfully, I have not shown any of the symptoms of the disease so far this holiday season.

Years ago when Cabbage Patch Kids were unbelieveably hot I remember being in the car with my parents and the radio DJ reported how tough it is to get one this year. My mom apologized to me and said I won't be getting one. A little sad but I understood. Well Christmas morning I open my gifts and there she was....my wonderful parents had it in the house all along...I got my Cabbage Patch Kid!! She is Blonde with blue eyes and smelled like baby powder.
Does anyone remember Toys R Us calling you to tell you your baby was ready to be picked up? I got a couple more since we were on the "adoption waiting list". It was so exciting waiting on that line to meet the new "baby".

Radio Shack told me that they policy is to give the shipments to those on the waiting list first. As they never get thru the list there is never any to put on the shelves -- at least right now. I picked up one from the Waiting List on monday and still have a few requested. SO -- be sure to get your name on your local store's list.

I think my DS will enjoy this. He is almost 14 and not in to toys too much but did mention that he thought these were cool. If it wasn't such a BIG DEAL with getting these though it would have probably not seemed that great to me. The HUNT is what is making it suspensful I guess! LOL

I have definately been guilty of it in the past.

However, after a $70 Furby was given a bath in the toilet and a very bad haircut one week into ownership, I realized that I needed therapy badly.

Depends on the item. That "Fur Real Kitty" is really hot this year and I have no desire to buy it (except to sell it on ebay for $100 hahahaha). I read some reviews and it doesn't work all that well and is completely impractical. One of those toys the kids would play with for 10 minutes and be done with.

I don't think we are buying anything considered "hot" this year...we thought Kingdom Hearts would sell out fast but so far, it is still plentiful. I do need to get it though soon because I'm nervous.

Unfortunately YES! It's usually for video games and systems, then there was the Furby for my goddaughter.

Nope! I although bought a Tickle Me Elmo before the craze started, and I kicked myself that I didn't buy more and resell them.... back then..

Or that I didn't sell it either.. My son loved it for years...

Shep, I must be lucky for once ! I did not know about this toy until I read it here. It sounded great for DS(and dh!). So I thought I would walk into Radio Shack and see if they had one by chance. I lucked out, they had 5! I snatched up the exact one I wanted and was told others had waited 6 weeks for that shipment! Got the Wall Barrier too! I am sure I would have been obsessed, glad I don't have to be now!!

DH scored a Real Fur Kitty today, sale price of 26.99. We have rainchecks at Toys R us. Now we just need one more...

I think I will do a little searching for the Zip Zaps or Knockoffs to them this weekend.

I was in Radio Shack buying myself a holiday "toy" - new cellphone with all the bells and whistles, and the sales guy asked me if I was interested in buying a Zip Zap- he had a couple tucked away in the back room. The way he asked, I could tell it was something people were looking for. I said "Sure!"....I didn't even know what I was buying. How sick is that? LOL!

I'm like Krisu, when I first saw the "hot" idea, I thought you might be giving me some really interesting gifts to buy for Christmas. Maybe it's because I was just reading the EROS' thread on the Victoria Secret show on TV tonight.
Alas, to your question, yes, I got pulled in to the whole "Tickle Me Elmo" toy that my daughter barely played with.

Walked in and got a ZipZap today. Also scored the
elusive "Spiderman Electronic Pinball Table". It's the
free standing table, not the table top model. To show
you how crazy I am....DS did not ask for either one,
he asked for "suprises". Santa is compulsive and
done. Now I just have to shop for the rest of the family.
