Do you try new resorts or stick with one?

I try to stay at a new resort each time. Eventually, I'd like to stay at all of them. The only repeats were the Poly when I was a kid (and too little to remember) and didn't have a say in the matter and ASSP because I booked a budget trip at the last minute. After my November trip, I'll have worked my way through all the moderates and value resorts. The deluxes are really going to up the budget, but I'm still going to try and do it.

I like trying new resorts, but as the kids develop favorites we're starting to think that there will be some we revisit. We all liked POR, but not so much that we never wanted to stay anywhere else. The kids loved the BC pool so much that they only want to stay there when we go during the warmer months (if we go back next summer, I think we'll try the YC - different resort, same pool :) ). They also love AKL but I vetoed that for our winter trip because I wanted an MK area resort, so we're trying WL this time.

Eventually, I'd like to stay at all of the moderate and deluxe resorts, with the possible exception of the Grand Floridian which just doesn't appeal to me theme-wise. I doubt we'll ever stay at the values, because we like pool slides and hot tubs too much to do without them on a Disney trip.

My New Years Resolution this year was to be able to say I had stayed at every WDW resort by the end of 2007. I'm not going to make it as I've still got Poly, YC and FW cabins to go. During all of those visits I've come up with some fav's and some Never agains. The Favs: Deluxe - AKL, BC, CR (MK view), Mods - CSR, POFQ, POP. Those are the ones I will try to get depending on what the budget is once I have stayed everywhere. The Never Agains: Any of the AS's, CBR, GF. The one resort we repeat the most is CSR with AKL coming in a close second.

Many people have the goal of world peace. For some it's cures for disease.
For others it migt be to lose 20 lbs. But for me it's to stay (eventually), at every WDW resort............. and that world peace thing. (:

We have never stayed at the same resort twice. It isn't because we don't like where we've stayed, but I love trying new hotels.

Although, we liked POFQ so much that we'll probably stay there many times before we get around to staying at all the rest.

We stayed at the Disney Institute several times til it closed. Now we like to hop. Still haven't found our new favorite, but we've only stayed at Pop, Poly, off site(def not fave!) and next month we'll try CSR.

First let me say that living in Florida and being within driving distance for the day makes us really happy.:yay: I got to admit though staying at a hotel on WDW property makes the magic more real. Our first visit to WDW for an over night trip was when our three kids were little. We braved staying at Ft. Wilderness in a tent, of course it rained every day. (That was the last time I believe I saw that tent.):rotfl2: To continue on we have stayed at the YC, GF, Ft. Wilderness Cabins, All-Star Music, Sports and POP, CSR, POFQ, and this Christmas will be AKL. Yes, we are resorts hoppers. We have stayed several times in some of our favorites, but my goal is to stay at every resort that is offered at WDW.princess:

I definately try to book a new resort for every stay as i too would like to be able to say i have tried them all. So far i have been lucky enough to try Polynesian, Coronado Springs and Port Orleans french Quarter. In a few weeks i am staying at Pop and Wilderness Lodge. So far I have liked them all:goodvibes

But we have stayed in a few. All started with the CR, then GF, DL or PORS, YC, BC, AKL, Poly, POP and WL. Thats just about the order too, our favorite is Poly, but quit staying here when the price got nuts, we've been doing WL past 5 or so trips, best deluxe in a location we spend more time in. Have no wish to try any others, some of the above was for odd reasons, EPCOT area, daughter did college program and worked at Test Track so we lit closer to where she worked, GF was a free up grade from CR, Dixie Landings was a trip I was paying for 2 rooms and AKL was a 3 night stay because the Poly was booked for the entire length we wanted and Pop was our sanctuary after the Poly when Wilma shut down Amtrak. Nope, we're very happy with WL, location is just right for our travels but unless Disney open a Pirate themed resort on Discovery Island, our butts will stay at WL.

1) Yes, we have our favorite resorts when we stay on-site.
2) But, we do like to sample other resorts.
3) There are just too many design/atmosphere options to settle on just one.

We like to try different resorts. Just when I think one is my favorite, we try a new one and like that too. We now have a select few that we go to. I would like to try Yacht and Beach club someday.

We do both. My ultimate is goal is to try them all one day. I actually only have 5 that I have not stayed at. I am knocking one of them out on this upcoming trip with CSR. We really love the POP and if we make the decision to do a random trip we usually go with POP.
I have a feeling I am really going to like CSR though too.

We stay at a new resort each trip:

Feb 05 - POFQ
Dec 05 - AKL
May 06 - BWI / OKW
Oct 06 - BC
May 07 - Poly / CR
Oct 07 - GF

I want to try all of the Deluxe resorts and then I'll go back and try all of the moderate resorts. I want to want to try a value resort but, every time I book one (for a single night, usually at the start of our trip) I end up cancelling it because I just don't think I'd enjoy it.

I like almost all of the resorts we've stayed at (the only one I wouldn't stay at again is OKW - just wasn't for me) but I want to continue to try new hotels.

I was going to try a new moderate resort this past trip, but ended up rebooking at POFQ again. I just love the size and theming of the place, to me it just feels right when I stay there. One of my previous trips we got bumped up to AKL when the closed the entire POFQ about a week before we were do to arrive so I was forced to try something new! :lmao: Loved it, as I loved the Poly where I stayed as a kid, but unfortunately they are out of my current price range.

I've been thinking of booking my next trip for Oct. 08 at a new place. Possibly CSR or WL, but I'll probably end up at my old favorite again!

Our favorites are WL, BC, BW, and AKL. However, on our last two trips, we stayed at GF, POR, and OKW. I also typically add just 1 night on at a different resort for a change of pace.

Over the many, many years we have been to Disney, we have tried four different resort: Contemporary, Polynesian, All-Star Sports and the Coronado. The Contemporary was okay the first time we went becuase it was convenient when the kids were little; we hated the All-Star Sports; we like the Polynesian a lot; but we love the Coronado. Now that our kids are no longer little (21 and 19), there is no reason for "convenience" as far as we are concerned; and as beautiful as the Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge look (we don't care for the Grand Floridian or other deluxe resorts--just not our style), we just can't justify staying at a deluxe for the price they charge for how little we are in the room. The Coronado has everything we could possibly want so that is our resort of choice for all trips.

I started another thread asking for some opinions for a possible trip in 2008. This last trip in April at POFQ wasn't great- the resort had alot to do with it.

We had a wonderful room/ stay at AKL in 2005. While I wouldn't mind going back to AKL, I'm certainly open to some other deluxe (possibly moderate) resorts.

preferably one with no mold in shower/ bathroom this time, please.....

We enjoy the many wonderful hotels/resorts at WDW.
We're planning a split stay on a next trip with a stop at Coronado Springs before ending the week at the GF.

Hi
I like to try different resorts, but it depends who I'm going with and also if I've received a discount code. I got a code for a value for $49.00 a few years ago, so we tried Pop. It was a lot of fun. So I did go back with with my DGD and DD. This December, my DH and I are going for a semi-relaxing vacation to CSR. I got a discount of 40% off CSR. Thanks to Buzz and his website and pictures, I can't wait. Eventually I 'd like to stay at the Poly.

I do like trying out new resorts, especially now that we are DVC. I think before then too, I was always willing to try something new. I also do have favorites that I will stay more often though, but I do like to change it up now and then ::yes::
