Do you do anything special for yourself on your birthday? Some people take the day off. Some people have a special dinner or lunch.

Today's my birthday and I'm going out for lunch with a friend and then I'm going to do some much needed clothes shopping, not easy with this cast, but really necessary. I'm hoping tomorrow the doctor declares me healed and takes the cast off.

I got in the routine of celebrating my birthday for myself because my husband has been away for most of them. He is here today and we will have a nice dinner and watch Beauty and the Beast tonight, which is my choice for celebration. Trying to crutch my fat *** around at a night place just isn't happening right now.

So what about ya'll? Do you treat yourself to something special for your birthday?

First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TINA! :)

I really don't treat myself for my birthday (which is coming up on the 21st). My husband's birthday is 4 days after mine, my one daughter's is the week before, and my nephew's is the same day as mine. We generally just get together with my parents and sisters one day at the end of October. My husband and kids never forget me though, so it's not like it goes unnoticed.

One of these days I would love to do something special for myself. Thanks for the great idea! :)

Dh and I have the same birth date. Since neither of us has a 'special' day for our birthday I will do something for myself. I usually go out with friends for lunch too.

and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

Happy Birthday!

I usually don't do anything special but this year I've got some vacation time left so I'm taking my birthday off.

Happy Birthday!

I wish I could have picked more than one option because I do something for myself and I separately do something with my family. I like to make a big deal out of birthdays because it makes people feel special. My DH takes the day off work for both my birthday and his so we spend that day together alone. On my kids birthdays I usually schedule some kind of Dr's appointment/checkup so I get a note to have them home from school and then spend the whole day alone with my child spoiling him or her.

Other....

Sometimes I do something for myself, sometimes I do stuff with family and sometimes we do nothing. It just depends what is going on at the time.

Oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Happy Birthday, Tina!!!!

I don't usually do anything special but this year I start a new decade (on the 15th of this month) so I already have made plans with coworkers that we will have Indian food for lunch that day. I love Indian food and, for me, that's a real treat. I don't know if I will do anything special with my family but I am kind of hoping they will plan something. In the past my milestone birthdays have left me brooding but for whatever reason I am kind of excited about this one. I am blessed with a good life and have great health for a half century year old broad. What more could I ask for?

BTW Tina, I made your banana bread recipe over the weekend and it was fabulous. My DH saves his compliments for special but he has been raving about the banana bread. I will definitely be using your recipe again.

Happy Birthdayyyyyyyy!

I chose other b/c I try to do something special for myself and celebrate with my family (usually on a different day though). This year I'm also changing decades (nice way of putting it Mer Mom :thumbsup2) so my sister is flying in from CT for the weekend, another weekend we'll go to Frankenmuth (we do that every year), and my mom will be here so I'll get to go out to dinner with DH which is a special treat. On my actual birthday I'm pretty sure my mom will make my favorite cake, we'll eat my favorite food, and DH will put both kids to bed which is all the present I really want sometimes!

First off...:cheer2::yay:party::bday: Happy Birthday Tina!!

Hope you have a great day celebrating with your friend and Matt and hope that cast comes off tomm. too!!

My birthday and our anniv. is the same day so we combine that with a vacation and head to disney for a week, just dh and I.

Yep, I sure do treat myself on my birthday. DH and I got married on my birthday so we call it my birthiversary. :lmao: I usually do take the day off. It's in the summer so if dd is home, she and I usually go to a movie or the zoo or some fun activity and then we all go out as a family for dinner at this Middle Eastern restaurant which is quite handily next door to the Grand Traverse Pie Co. There's my special treat--I get a chocolate cream pie just for me and eat it all by myself over the course of a week. :thumbsup2 I only eat it once a year so it's my birthday splurge.

And Happy Birthday, Tina!

Happy Birthday Tina.

As for myself, no, I don't acknowledge it at all. And everyone else knows not to either. Once I hit 49, I was done having birthdays.

First of all, Happy Birthday! I hope that you have a great day.

As for the question, I always get something special for myself on my birthday. It's nothing expensive but usually a book or dvd and maybe an ice cream treat.

Happy Birthday! And yes I always treat myself on my birthday. This year - thanks to facebook - and everyone KNOWING for sure when your birthday is led to a great birthday lunch with friends.
And I usually just really relax that day. I wish I could remember to do that every day.

party: Happy Birthday Tina!! :bday:

Our family believes the day you were born is a really big deal, so with our large extended family there is always a fun party to attend :goodvibes. I don't usually do anything big for myself, sometimes pamper w/hair cut or such, but I'm blessed DH and the kids like to spoil me ;). Many times DH & I have celebrated with a getaway.

Year before last we celebrated my BD w/our kids and grands at Cinderella’s Castle ~ it was pricless ~ def a once in my life time thing ! They surprised me by having me crowned a princess, also presented me a dozen roses on a MM satin pillow. Later we watched Wishes from Disney's Grand 1 Yacht, which was very exciting!! :cloud9:

A few yrs/ ago for DH's BD I gave him a bag of all island goodies - shirt, trunks, towel, sun glasses, sun screen, etc. He had no idea where we were going until he reached the ship headed for Bermuda....it was such fun to plan and keep it a surprise :teeth:! We’re crazy like that !?!?! Next week-end we’re going to N.C. to visit/celebrate DGD’s 7th BD. :lovestruc

Enjoy!!! Blessings to you and Soldier Boy, how nice you can spend this BD together! Hope you make a full and speedy recovery!

I normally don't, but this year is the big 3-0 and we're going to Disney. :cloud9:

Next year it's back to doing nothing!:rotfl:

Happy birthday.

You mentioned having to crutch yourself around...did you hurt yourself? Hope you heal up soon!

Hubby and son like to make me homemade cards (I dislike purchased cards...actually I wish for NO cards because then you have to keep them and come up with a place to keep them for time immemorial... but DS really does love making them), and for years now I've been told that DH is going to get me a nummy cake, but he never does...and he doesn't get good presents (one Yule he got me a book called "How to Simply Cut Kid's Hair"...yes it was on my wishlist...but my wishlist is for ME, not for others, and that's not a good present!)...so...I prefer it if they just ignore it. I'll create the day if I wish to have a special day, thank you very much.

Well, last year we went to Disneyland for my birthday (next week), but Disney was giving me a giftcard so how could I miss that? I wouldn't mind going to Disneyland again, but all the money is going towards WDW in 2 months. Ooh, I should delay my celebration and celebrate it at WDW! :dance3:

Your evening sounds perfectly nice to me! Have a nice time, and hope you're off the crutch(es) soon if I read that right!

I voted that I do something for myself and celebrate with family as well.

When I worked as a waitress I always took my birthday off after the first year that I worked. We were camping at a state park for my birthday for the weekend and I didn't take Saturday night off, for my birthday. I didn't get out of work until 9:00, and by the time I went home and showered and got to the campground it was almost 10:00. Not much time left for having fun, so I vowed to always take my birthday off after that. And I did. :goodvibes

Happy birthday, Tina!

I always treat myself on my birthday. I almost always take the day off. My dad takes me out to dinner, sometimes my sister & her family join us, sometimes they take me out another day. My birthday is May 20th, so it is very close to Memorial Day, so my sisters who live in VA usually come to NY then & treat me too. If no-one is around on the day, I take myself out!

and next year, I turn 50. I plan to go to WDW sometime (probably not on my birthday) & will celebrate it there.

Happy Birthday!!!!

I alsways do something small for myself for my birthday. Most of the time it is a manicure and pedicure.
