Do you Travel w/ Refillable Mugs?

So it seems only three colors rights now.

Have anyone seen more colors recently. I don't want to put stickers on them.

Are they same as last year?
Is this why there limited colors? Whatever is leftover from last year?

And does all resorts have the same color lids?

I have only stayed at Boardwalk and they give you your drink in the disposable cups so I never had the need to rinse out. If I wasn't going back to the room I would take it to the park and have hooked it to my belt.

Do other resorts actually fill the mugs? I will be staying at POFQ in Dec and would like to know how it works there.

We never take our mugs to the parks. I can't imagine carrying a mug all day.

We do take water bottles to the park, but my bottle fits into the side pocket of my bagallini and the rest of the family has a water bottle strap.

You fill your own mug up at the beverage island. It has coffee, cocoa, iced tea, hot tea and the soda dispensers, all self serve.

Any resort with a food court will be self serve.

We also have a "runner" to head back to the room after breakfast to drop off the mugs. They are too bulky to have with us all day.

On park days, we usually fill up in the morning, rinse the cups at a restroom when done (we're usually in a park at that point), then put the cup in a ziplock bag, and stick it in our bags or backpacks, till we get back to the hotel, and get a refill. Occasionally they also come in handy in the park, as has been pointed out in other posts. :)

This last visit (just at the end of June), my nephew carried a 'communal' backpack, that generally held a few of the cups (there were 5 of us), as well as rain ponchos (since we did have a couple days of rain :confused3 ). That worked out really well; the bag wasn't heavy at all, and he had the few things he carries in the park in there as well. :thumbsup2

The bottle straps you can get to carry water, can be used to secure the handle. We all just wear our cups around the park. Handy for getting water throughout the day as well. Then we just fill the cups up again when we get back to the resort on our way to the rooms.

That being said, we usually only take 2 out of the 5 cups we get because sharing is caring (and less carrying)

We usually just use a sharpie to mark an initial on the lid for those who end up having the same lid/handle color on cups. The mark stays on for a few days and then we simply write it again. When scrubbing with a sponge or magic eraser they come right off the lids.
I have also used different colored canineer clips on the handles to easily tell them apart while on vacation or at home and use them to clip onto a strap for my bag if needed.:cool1:

I usually go to the food court to get breakfast with my mug, then I go back to the room to finish my drink and brush my teeth.
If ibring my mug, it is with water during the morning. i refill it twice during my afternnon break. I definitely bring it in the evening to get some hot tea back to the room.

Mugs for us are a pain to carry outside of the resort... Can't be used at any park and they are bulky...our resort picks are ones that the resort is compact enough to justify returning the mugs back to the room, though mostly after breakfast, to leave us mug less in the parks plus we usually make coffee in the room, enough to satisfy us in the am, have breakfast in the food court or QS and don't need our mugs....and when we're at the resort, we're mostly at the pool where refills are quick and close and we can justify lugging them with us and a hot chocolate for bed time is a plus for us... But our motto has alway been if you want it, you carry it... Not one person is a pack mule for all the mugs ....usually cures people from wanting their mug outside the resort!

We do carry our mugs to the parks. DH and I usually fill with coffee/tea in the morning; DD may or may not have lemonade. We actually find that we fill several times during the day in the parks with free ice water from CS locations, and we add drink packet flavoring. We use carabiners to hang them from the strap of our bag(s), or sometimes inside a backpack, but they aren't spill-proof so that's not a good idea when it's full. But with the ice water we usually drink it while sitting for a few minutes before moving on so it's not a problem. We've never lost a lid.

"Kid-friendly" beverages may vary by resort, but generally there is hot chocolate, lemonade, iced tea, sports drink as well as soda.

Enjoy your vacation.

I wish they would make the cups more little water bottles so we could easily bring them into the parks and carry in our bags. Might be worth it to even bring our own water bottles, fill up the travel mugs and transfer the drinks over...
