My mom would roll over in her grave to find out that we're thinking we will probably not go to mass while we're at Disney. But if I'm correct, there is no longer a mass offered on property anywhere (back in the days it used to be at the Poly) and getting to the closest church would be pretty expensive (we won't have a car) AND take up a huge chunck of time. We will arrive to MCO around 1pm on Sat so my guess is that we won't even get to the hotel till at least 230-3pm or so.

In anycase, just wondering how many people really do go to mass while they're on vacation and what is the least expensive and least time-consuming way to do it - if you do. We typically do go when on vacation but - we always have a car. :confused3

The only times we ever went to Mass while on vacation were when we were away over Easter - once visiting family (so that was easy) and the other time in Aruba (which was worth any extra hastle just to hear Mass in such a beautiful language.) I don't really worry too much about missing it while in Disney.

Well, my brother is a priest and often goes to WDW with us, so he says Mass for us in our DVC unit. Really nice for us......:goodvibes

But we did use to head to Mary Queen of the Universe for Saturday evening Mass. It starts at 6:00. We would get a taxi at DTD and it is about a 10-minute drive from there. Fare is $10-$12/one-way. The drivers are usually very accommodating and will return for a pick-up after Mass; just agree on a time. Two caveats - Mass often goes over 1 hour (in our last experience, anyway) and is quite crowded. Also, bring your cell phone if you need to contact your driver; sometimes the phones are out of order.

We always go to Mass when we are on vacation, no matter where, but, we usually rent a car. In Orlando, we go to Mary, Queen of the Universe. As a side note, there is a really cool website that finds the closest church to just about anywhere along with Mass times. I've never actually used it, just discovered it over the weekend. But, it is accurate for all the churches I know. We love Mary, Queen of the Universe shrine, and usually visit at least one other time during the week to visit the gardens and museum exhibits that they have. I usually get gifts for my son's teachers there, as well.

We go to mass every week and are very involved in our church, but we usually do not go on vacation.

*hanging my head in shame* We never go to mass while at WDW. But then again, we aren't the most diligent Catholics even at home. I will say, however, we do talk quite a bit about giving thanks to God for our time together, ability to be on vacation and the sites/sounds/tastes we're experiencing while in the World. I know, I know...that's not a substitute, but it's something.

We are a family of 7 and always go to Mary Queen of the Universe Shrine while we're in Disney. I would feel too guilty if I did not go! Unfortunately when we do not have our car, we are forced to take the taxi and yes, that can get pretty expensive. It is cheapest from downtown disney - I usually budget $20 each way.

mass on vacation?! never thought about it..
but cant you just pray in ur room for one week?
think your god would mind?
