I always tip my waiters/waitresses (amount depends on service), hairdresser (unless I leave the salon crying; it has happened :rotfl:) and of course the CM's on our DISNEY CRUISE!!!I have wondered recently because I have some appliances being delivered if you tip the delivery people as well as the installers. Also, do you tip the dog groomer? I know this is all opinion but just curious what others do in these instances.

I tipped the delivery people who delivered my mom's refrigerator and stove last month. They removed the old appliances and installed the new ones and spent a lot of time at her house. I also always tip the dog groomer about $5.

Yes to hairdresser & waitstaff.
Yes to appliance delivery persons. $1 or $2 each
Sorry ~ No dog here

What about the AAA guy?

What about the girl at the ice cream shop with a tip jar?

And what's with the tip jar inside the pizza shops...If I pick up my own pizza should they really get a tip?

We drop out clothes off at the wash-n-fold and I never know to tip or not. There are about 3 people who work there so I am never sure who actually washed and folded our clothes. So we usually give them gift cards during the holidays.

I only tip the waitress/waiter. No to all the rest.

Where would you draw the line anyway? Do you tip your mailman? They bring your mail and don't charge you. Do you tip your Doctor? They provide a service just as a barber or dog groomer does. How about the UPS driver? This could go on forever!!!

Yes, $5, and up to $10, depending upon how much work they're doing (I've had bunk beds installed, and it took an hour).

Please tip your dog groomer! I used to be a bather and I only made 7 bucks an hour to be on my feet the entire day. I tip hairstylists, etc too because most of them work on commision and may not make a ton of money

Yes-for some odd reason, I feel the need to tip anyone and everyone. Delivery guys usually get $5 each.

Yes to all!
I usually tip the dog groomer 15.00 and delivery guys 5.00 each. Installers between 5-10.00.

I've always tipped the satellite dish/cable installer guys, and they've always acted happily surprised. Our house isn't easy to do, and I appreciate the extra effort they put into their jobs.

Of course, I'm the person who pays for the car behind me at the Mackinac Bridge, too;)

Not rich, just "paying it forward"...

My kinda gal. :lovestruc

Yeah, we tip for delivery situations, but more in the guise of "Hey, thanks a lot! Put this $5/whatever toward your lunch" (or a beer, if my DH is involved). I think we all pretty much know who gets the real money in any particular transaction, and it's usually not the service people who are doing the "stand-on-your-feet all day" or grunt work of moving furniture/appliances, etc.

This doesn not apply to doctors or anyone earning lots more than I do (which is everyone these days. ;)

Do you tip at Pei Wei? I get my own drinks and order and pay at the counter. They deliver the food and clean up after.

I'm not familiar with Pei Wei. However, I often lunch at the local Moe's SW Grill (same concept) and throw change or a bill in the cup.

We have a tiny Chinese place near us with a tip jar on the counter, and even though I usually just get takeout, I always throw a buck or two in the jar because the nice lady owner always remembers ALL the weird aspects of my order (blame DH and DS, not me;)), asks how DS is, and often throws in an extra crab rangoon just cuz. She and her crew work harder than most anyone I know, so who am I to begrudge her a buck or two?

Terri

I know I'm weird, but I think the dog groomer should value my business... not the other way around.

See, I'm clueless there...what's the average dog grooming time & charge?

What about a tatoo artist? :confused3

My son recently got a tatoo on his arm, it took about 2 hours to do plus the designing of it beforehand. The actual tatoo cost him $65 and he tipped her $5. I was shocked that he tipped such a low amount!! I think $20 would have been better, maybe even more, I don't know.

OK; so the delivery guys and installer for the appliances came today and I did not tip. I feel sooo GUILTY. My husband joked and said, "I installed the microwave do I get a tip???" Yes, less complaining about me spending money on the installation guys!!!:rotfl:

Well, I may start to tip the groomer; it hurts 2 dogs at 40 bucks a pop but I might bite the bullet to give a little extra.

I tip AAA guy who has come to my rescue, but I don't plan on this hapening so I don't always have cash in my pocket. Though I did not tip the owner of the local shop that they send as he owns the company.

I tip my hairdresser, but I thought their was some kind of unwritten rule that you do not tip the owner if she/he does your hair (the owner never does my hair). Is this so?
