Do you tip or gift your TA?

While I appreciate the work my TA has done for me on all four of my Disney cruises to date, I have never felt the need to tip nor ever felt guilty for not doing so.

However, if someone wants to tip a General Sales Manager at a Honda dealership, I'll let you know where to send those tips. :rotfl2::goodvibes

actually, yes, I have in fact done exactly that lol. when my father passed on his accountant was extremely helpful sorting things out, did so in a timely basis during the business season, and minimized pain for me. I tipped him for that. maybe I should stop using the trigger word 'tip' and say 'gift with appreciation.' lol

anyway.. gosh.. I was just asking to make sure, as simple as that. I have done 5 cruises with this TA, clearly had not put much thought into it before this, and figured this was the place to ask questions :)
Given how much accountants charge, a tip is not something I would ever consider.

My situation is a bit more complex, in that I won't be using her services moving forward for a variety of reasons so recommending her is not appropriate :), rewarding her with more business isn't going to happen, but I like to leave on good terms.
Yeah, you lost me here. You have used someone's services, you are not happy with it and do not want to go back or recommend them to someone else. But you do feel you need to give them more to part on good terms.
To be honest, to me it sounds like you feel guilty for no longer using this TA's services and the gift is to help to get rid of the feeling.

You had a business relationship with this person.
If you want to give her something meaningfful, give her feedback. Feedback she can use to improve her services.
That will do more than giving her something from your trip.

I don't think there are many companies who expect a parting gift when a customer no longer plans to work with them.

Suuurrrre!
Also, if anyone would like to tip their mammographer after a good mammogram, that would be appreciated as well.

thank you doctor, what do I owe you?

smiles. sometimes a cigar is a cigar. I wanted to know what the norm is, and now I know :) and to be honest, it's not always what others expect, it's what I feel comfortable with. I always preferred to have knowledge than not.

And for the record, I have given feedback. Quite a bit actually. To both the agent, and the owner. Let's just say they won't be implementing any changes any time soon lol. But I am sure it was appreciated. smiles.

well thanks to all that replied, I think I have my answer on what is norm (though who knows what I decide to do for myself)

Out of 11 unique person replies (i.e. I didnt count twice if people responded twice)..

there were
6 No's
1 hell no
1 this is whats wrong with the world (which I take as no)
2 I was in the business and never got nor expected any

and 1 yes. lol

So 10 no's, 1 yes. The forum has spoken.
