I'm taking my basset mix to the PetSmart groomers for a bath and nail clipping. She's short hair and an easy groom, so no extra work should be needed. Should I tip?

Thanks!

Yes, you should tip a groomer who doesn't own the salon. Same as your hair dresser. Especially if they do a good job. Grooming dogs is hard work and they deserve much more than they make. I tip Petey's groomer about 20%.

we tip our groomers all the time, they spend all day with both our dogs and i usually give them 25 extra

We tip the groomer and the driver that picks him up and brings him back home.

They deliver your dog??? I am SOOO jealous!

Yes I always tip the groomer ! same as my beautician !

Oh. My. Gosh.

I'm such a loser!!!!!!

It never even crossed my mind to tip Harleys groomer at PetsMart!!!! She is so good, too, and takes good care of my baby. Does free trims for me when I'm in the store, as well. I just assumed they didn't get tips, since I never saw anyone else doing it...

Oh crap. I feel bad. How much do you tip? He is just getting puppy cuts at $14.99 a piece - he's had about 3-4 already, and I would like to go and pay her 'back' those tips and apologize. Would you? How much $?

I don't know that I would apologize or "back" tip. Maybe do something nice like bring her a batch of cookies or a cake and then start from scratch. Or you could always over tip a bit for the next few groomings. I guess it depends on how many you feel you need to make up. Groomers are like beauticians, you'd think they'd make pretty good money but unless they own the shop or work for a very high class salon they really don't. That and beauticians clients don't usually bark at or bite them! A tip of 15 to 20% is standard for a good job. I tip Petey's groomer around 20%. She's great! And she always seems to be able to squeeze him in on the day I want even when she's really busy.

Our dog groomers own the shop. I dont tip 20% because after the huge bill I cant affored a tip. I take all 3 of my Newfoundlands to them every 6 weeks

Yesterday my dog was there all day. The bill was $120.00 so I tiped $15.00.

The bill is normally $100.00 but my dog was knotted and my groomer who is worth her weight in gold did so much extra work I knew I needed to give more.

My cousin is a dog groomer. He doesn't own his own shop and really doesn't make great money most of the time. I know he probably doesn't expect a tip from anyone but he really appreciates it when he gets one. Sometimes, especially when they're going through a slow time, those tips have really helped out.

Yes its great!! They come around 7am to get him and usually they have him home by 3pm.....and my dog is NOT a good dog at ALL and other groomer have asked us not to bring him back but this one says as long as she does things in short time he isok...so they will cut the nails on 2 paws then let him relax then go back and do the other two....for washing he is ok but for cutting they do the same short time thing so they deserve everthing they get. I do get charged 5.00 more for him being a 'difficult dog" but heck, its well worth it!
