Do you tip at the Margarita Stand?

On our last WDW trip I noticed they left a place for a tip at the margarita stand in EPCOT. I have never had a problem tipping $1 per drink at a bar, sometimes a little more if the drink was mixed especially well, but at a stand where the drink is made in bulk and a machine mixes it for those working at the stand it seems strange to leave a tip. Is there anyone else that feels the same way about this?

I have to say I am not surprised that there is a tip jar or whatever.... I wonder if you emailed guest services at Disney if they are aware of this jar at the Margarita stand.. it does seem to be a bit much... Does that mean that all the take out areas of Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and so on will now have tip jars at their take out areas?????

I think I would write guest services and ask them what their take on this is.....and to answer your question, yes I think it is a bit much.

Now I am thinking out loud... will we now have to tip the bus drivers for driving the buses.....if we do the Keys to the Kingdom Tour or any of the tours that you pay dearly for, are we expected to then tip the tour guide???

I have reread the op and think that you meant on the slip... I read it wrong, there was a place for a tip if charging the item??? No, I still would not leave a tip. So ignore my first paragraph and second one too as it was not so much a place......at the stand, it was a place on the slip??? Now I am confused.. LOLOLOL

OP - do you mean that the charge slip has a place for a tip? If so, I don't think that is all that strange. Most every charge slip at a restaurant has that line. I ignor it at counter service restaurants and have never tiped at the Margarita stand.

Mackey, don't people already tip the tours guides from the tours? I know it was recommended that we tip our boat driver for our Wishes Cruise, which we did. I assumed that tours guides were similar to the tour boat drivers and that they were tipped.

Well if that's the trend then 7-eleven had better start giving me a discount for drawing my own slurpees!

I just don't tip counter service providers when it is a regular wage, non tip-subsidized position like a wait-staff or bartender. As odd as it sounds, this is largely due to the fact that I did work many years in my high school/college days in just those types of positions, which has made me more immune to tip-jar guilt. I can say personally that even at its worst it wasn't that hard (except on the feet...ouch.) Although when I was in high school I worked for a bit at BR31, and lemme tell you, when that Daiquiri Ice got to the bottom of the bin, it was just that...ice. A half-schnockered guy came in and ordered a hand-scooped quart of it from a low tub, and it took me and another girl 20 minutes, trading off when we got too tired, to get it all. At one point I was leaning so far in, my feet were waving in the air and I almost fell in. That was the one and only time I received a tip doing counter food service

I remember tipping the Captain for my illumination cruise.............I think he actually said something like all tips are appreciated at the end of the tour.
I did a Segway Tour in Epcot, I did not tip the person running the tour. I do not honestly remember on the Keys to the Kingdom Tour...maybe someone else can answer that. I do not think we tipped our tour guide, I think I would have remembered that. .

But here is the thing, will we now start tipping the boat drivers that take us from MGM to Epcot... when does it stop?

I can see it for the castmembers who serve food and drink at sit down restaurants......they are not paid as well as others. As far as take out kiosks, I just do not what to say. This from a person who tips at Starbucks, I know, but I am not sure where this will stop?

Picture this, you are coming through the bakery line in France's pavillions, balancing your tray, getting to the drink area to pay and there is a tip jar....I am sorry, I think enough is enough, it is very expensive to go to WDW for families....And another thing, who will get the tips.. the kids on the line, the bakers, who?

No. I have never tipped at the stand in Mexico and we get them several times a trip.

The CM's at the Margarita stand are not tipped CM's, so no you should not be tipping them.

I too think it seems rather strange to expect a tip for simply pulling a handle, but then again, when you think about it, the margherita is an alcoholic drink and if a person is going to tip a bartender for pulling a handle to fill a beer mug (isn't beer made in bulk and the machine does the work?), how is this any different? I'm not saying a person should or should not tip for the margherita, but I don't see much difference in the two scenarios.

The person pulling the handle at the Margarita stand is making a whole lot more money per hour than the bartender pulling a handle to fill a beer mug.

Two different job classifications.

I would not tip there or at the Tea Stand in China. I also dont tip at Starbucks...whats next, tipping at McDonalds??

We've asked many times at that stand (and other similar ones) and the CM's say they are not allowed to accept tips.

Yes, we always leave a tip there and it's always accepted and appreciated. While it's nothing big, just a $1.00. We also tip at the Dawa Bar, the Tune In bar, and High Octang at MGM too, also tip the pool bars too. Sometimes they mix a drink, other times they just get a premade icey one, we treat the service all the same. Starting next year, the carryout drinks at the Tune In will have the tip added since they accept the DDE.

We don't tip there, similarly to how we don't tip when a CM pulls a Diet Coke out of the bin for us at another kiosk.

I am sure that they would appreciate a tip, but it is not a tipped position.

When I walk up to a bar, to purchase an adult beverage, I normally tip. I never gave the Margarita Stand any thought, it sounds like the servers there aren't considered "tipped". I've given a tip there and it wasn't refused.

A guest that doesn't see the need to tip is free to ignore the tip cup but I don't see any reason to complain about it.

I've seen tip cups at Dunkin Donuts and fast food restaurants. I agree it's getting out of hand, but I don't think a tip cup at a place that serves adult beverages is out of hand.

I don't tip at the Margarita Stand, but have tipped over a couple of times.

Sorry for getting back to my own post so late, but YES the option to tip was on the credit card slip. However, I never saw any such line to tip when ordering counter service or when I ordered a Grey Goose Slushie in France. I just thought it was really weird for it to be on the slip at all.
