Do you tip at Sonic?

Ah, so you don't consider remaining in your vehicle, placing your order, and having somebody deliver that order directly to you, "waiting on" you? Cool. Don't tip. If you don't mind being asked though - what do you consider it?

What about the McDonalds drive through? You never get out of your car there?

Or what about places like Fazolis where people come around with extra breadsticks and things like that.

Or what about CiCis where you leave your plates on the table to be cleaned up.

Do you tip there? I guess I never considered any of that on par with what waiters and waitresses do in sit-down restaurants. Granted, I'll tip at sonic because they have to go outside into the heat/cold, but I'm not tipping a drive through. :confused3

Just wanted to add that we went Friday, March 5th (maybe) right before dinner, about 4:30-5:00 and we had no problem getting a spot. But as we were leaving they were beginning to fill-up, but no way was there a line.

We've had a Sonic in the area for two years now (I think it's about 2 years!), and I've only been once, for ice cream, and that was with a free coupon! :rotfl2: No, I didn't tip. And honestly, it never occurred to me to tip at a Sonic.:confused3

yea I always tip at leas $2 when i go with my friends. she is serving us and they do come around to check on you.

I don't tip at the drive-thru at McDonalds, because they are not BRINGING something to my car. They are handing it to me through a window.

I've never tipped the person at Fazoli's who brings around the breadsticks. Guess I hadn't thought about it.

I've not dined at CiCi's, but I think if I were leaving dirty plates or silverware on the table, and someone had to come and collect the dirty tableware, then I'd leave a tip.

I occasionally tip at Sonic if I personally know the person coming out to the car.

What irritates me is when the person bringing out my food takes it for granted that I will tip them, hands me the leftover bills and takes off with my coins without giving me an opportunity to tip or not to tip.

I know a college student that has paid his way through college working at Sonic. He makes a lot of money from his tips.

I never have.

I considered it fast food and no different than when the cashiers at Mickey D's are fetching food for you.

If they changed how they wish to pay their employees so it becomes a tipped postion, I would then.

I've never been to a Sonic, but unless someone leaves the building and comes out to my car with the food, I wouldn't think tipping is necessary or expected.. :confused3

DH and I went to sonic a few weeks ago and we went through the drive thru because we weren't sure if we should have tipped either:rotfl: I think I would have though. It seems no different than sitting in a restaurant and having the waitress bring the food to you.

Yes, but at a restaurant, they waitress is there to take care of you throughout the meal (re-filling your drink, cleaning away dirty dishes, etc). At Sonic, they bring you your food & then they are done.
