Do you tie your shoes?

I am constantly seeing people walking around with lace-up shoes like sneakers or work boots who don't keep them tied. Sometimes, they don't even have laces in them. And I'm not just talking about kids who are trying to look cool but grown ups too.

Personally, I can't imagine finding this comfortable. I like my shoes laced and tied. I hate that feeling that my shoes are falling off every time I take a step. Even if I throw on my shoes just to put out the trash or get the paper, I'll tie them. I couldn't see walking around all day with them untied. Maybe people think it looks cool. Looks dumb to me.

Yes, if I am not going to tie them, then I might as well not wear them.

If I didn't tie my shoes I'd be falling on my face from tripping on the shoelaces.

I tie my shoelaces

I am the person actually telling people their shoelaces are not tied. I now know I was being a total geek, I had no clue. I thought I was being nice

I am going to let people trip over their laces from now on!

I mostly see the kids trying to 'be cool' I guess, not tying them. If I have laces, I like mine tied.

If I wear sneakers, they must be tied. For work, I mainly wear loafers.

always tied.

of course - I keep a pair of slip on sneaks by the back door to throw on when I have to run outside with the dog or something

I did buy a new pair of sneaks (fashion sneaks) yesterday...they are velcro...DH loves to make fun of my shoes, can't wait to hear what he says when he sees these puppies!

I hate it when my laces come loose.....must be tied firmly!!!!! :rotfl:

Always tie them, and always tell people when their shoes are untied.

DS drives me NUTS because he refuses to tie his shoes!

I don't think those people know how to tie them. Tying shoes is a lost art.

Half the kids in DD's K class can't tie their shoes. DD is the unofficial expert in her class, and ends up tying half the kids' shoes when they get to school, and come in from recess. I know K might be young for some kids to learn, but if your kid can't tie, then get them another type of shoes. Do parents really expect the teacher to tie 15 pairs of shoes twice a day?

O.K., rant over.

When I saw the title of the thread, I just wanted to say, "No, I pay people to do that for me." :teeth:

I drive DH crazy because I don't UNtie my shoes. I lace them loosely so I can just slip my feet in and out. I hate untying them and tying them back up again. DD does the same thing (I wonder where she got it from?)

That's what I do too!:teeth:

Don't tie mine but they are also not flapping aroun.

Most of my shoes don't tie at all Mules,Watershoe(speedlaces),slip-ons but the ones that have laces I just get smaller laces and lace them so they hold but you don't have to tie.I can run with them like that and have never had them fall off.

Oh and yes I'm a 40 yr old Male I also don't tuck my shirt in all the time either.

That makes three of us :cool1:

Woo hoo, ragnrok23 and sleepy one! I'm telling DH that dd and I are not the only ones.

I think we are simply being more efficient. Think of all the time we save over the years by not tying those shoes up every time!

My kids learned to tie shoes very late. 2nd grade for my DS and 1st grade for my DD. But that was because we always bought the Velcro shoes so it was never an issue. Now of course they both tie their shoes. My twins (age 5) use Velcro shoes.

I don't think I own a pair that has to be tied. Right now I wear snow boots which slip on and zip up. In the summer I wear nothing but flip-flops and sandals so I haven't had to tie shoes in awhile.

Normally? Yes, I do! ::yes::

However, right now, I can't even see my feet, let alone tie my shoes. :rotfl2:
I have to have DH or my DD tie them when needed. I have grown to love "slip on" shoes while being PG. ;)

I always tie my laces and insist the kids tie theirs too. Younger one decided it wasn't cool to tie them so did the 'tuck laces inside the shoe untied' style. Having seen a child nearly being run over because their shoe came adrift whilst they were crossing the road, I advised her it was safer to tie them. She now ties them but keeps the cool look by using long laces and tucking the VERY long loops into the shoe...seems to have fooled her school chums so far as her street cred remains! :teeth:
