Do you think you are underpaid?

I'm making about half- maybe 2/3 of what I should be paid according to salary standards in my office and in my profession.

Which is why I have a job interview next week.

Considering the fact that while I'm working in the casino and I'm responsible for literally millions of dollars in cash, 30+ in staff, yes.

Nope I am underpaid for the amount of experience I have now with this company...I am an underpaid asset....:(

Yes, when I leave they will soon find out. I am sure everything will go on, it always does, but there have been a rash of people leaving in the last month and it isn't going to make it easy. I plan to go within the next month. It takes about 6months for a new person to fully grasp everything. I've been there 7yrs and am a manager.

Yes, I think I'm underpaid. I keep getting more responsibilities added, none taken away and only a pitiful cost of living raise each year. And in my job we're expected to work unpaid overtime. (Ah the joys of publishing) Yep, underpaid.

Yes...I think nurses need to make more money. But I think that nurse techs and nursing assistants are SEVERELY underpaid. They have to do the dirty work like bedpan brigade, changing colostomy bags, bedbaths, etc.

I make a good salary, especially compared to other companies in this field. However, I work my butt off and have to deal with some pretty difficult situations.

I used to be with everyone else about getting paid more in the military.

But, the more I've thought about...there's 18 year olds just out of basic buying DVD players, home theatre systems, new cars, etc.

Now, I think I make plenty. In fact, it's one of the reasons I'm scared to get out...I don't want to have to go back to being broke again.

YES! After working myself up through mediocre raises for 4 yrs. with Gap all the people that had been there a long time were let go because they were making too much. After months of trying to find a new job, I had to take a crap job in a warehouse that pays less than what I started at Gap. You would think going on my senior year in college I'd be able to find something decent. I just pray things will go better in my job search after graduation...

... My advice to all - don't move to Columbus, OH if you are looking for work and definately not good, well paying work. Columbus is a desert! I'm outta here as soon as college ends.

I, too, feel that I am underpaid! I am basically working 12 hours out of the day. I am a live-in program director for a group home for adults with developmental disabilities. I have been the program director here for 2 1/2 years and we have not had a raise at all, but my job responsibilities have gone up at least 80%! It used to be that I would have one, if not two staff come in each evening to help out so that I could have some time off. I am now lucky if I get one!!!

It is a really touchy subject around here...but it totally sucks that I haven't gotten a raise since I started!

Korey

Yes I am underpaid. I am a special education teacher and in my school system they think it means anyone who is a behavior problem dump him in my room. I had 12 students last year who were truly L/D and one child who was well on his way to being a sociopath. He thew desks on the floor, trashed the room, was violent and needed to be restrained BUT had an average IQ so not really qualified for my room. The final straw was violent drawings of me with guns shooting bullets into me. Yes I am underpaid , I should be getting combat pay.

Yes, since I only make $3.25 per hour!!!

But! I'm a waitress, so my "real paycheck" is what's found in my tip cup at the end of my shift each night!! :teeth:

I do feel I'm "underpaid" when some customers tip less than 10%
(etiquette says 10% for buffet, 15-20% when you order from the menu) and I've done a very good job at keeping their drinks refilled, removing dirty plates from the table, bringing extra napkins/condiments, and getting dessert for them (I work in a restaurant that has a nightly buffet, plus regular menu, so most people get the buffet but some do order off the menu too). Or those that don't tip at all. Then I get to pay out of my pocket (taxes) for their meal. That's what really annoys me, when I know I've done a good job for them and was pleasant to them.
Thankfully "that type of customer" is not the norm. Most of my customers tip well, and some tip very, very well!! :teeth:

Nope...I'm fine with my salary. It's small, but...I teach Kindergarten in a church program, 9-1. I get two weeks extra vacation after my kiddos return to school in the Fall and two weeks before they get out for the summer. At 1 p.m. I turn into a SAHM - I feel blessed!!
