Do you think this is too much in one day?

Can someone tell me how realistic this is? This is what I have scheduled for the day of my son's birthday...but I'm having worries that it's all going to be too much for one day...

930a Chef Mickey's for Breakfast
12p Pirates League
645p Whispering Canyon Cafe
8p Wishes Dessert Party

My main concern is how long is it going to take to get the boat to get to whispering canyon and back to mk? I'm thinking were not going to have enough time to get to the dessert party on time??? Would you suggest just eating somewhere in the mk that night? anyone have any birthday experiences at tony's? My son is turning 8...Or I could keep trying for an earlier res at whispering canyon around 6pm? Do you think all this is going to be too much???
I don't know...help...:confused3

Well even if you are seated right at 6:45, it will be after 7 before you get food. It seems like you are cutting it much too close. Plus then you will be rushing and not able to enjoy the antics in the restaurant which is half the fun.

My other thought is that if you are full from having such a large meal you are not going to want much dessert. I know on our wishes dessert party night we are planning an earlier CS meal. Must get full value from those desserts

I agree--that's a lot of food--Canyon and Desserts. I'd do a light dinner at a CS and then head to the Desserts.
Have a great trip!

We ate at WCC and when it was time to get a boat, we waited for over 30 min. It was our longest transportation wait ever. It's a nice ride, to enjoy when you aren't in a hurry to get someplace.

That will be a very busy and maybe hurried day! Can you break it up? I would only plan on doing one of these things a day! That way you could have 4 special days to look forward to and enjoy each activity without feeling so rushed from one activity to another!:rotfl:

skip Whispering Canyon and go early counter service instead...then you'll have room to enjoy that dessert party. Otherwise, you're spending a lot of money for the nibble you might be able to eat.

And I agree there's very little chance you'd make it to the dessert party at 8:00 it you're scheduled for 6:45 at Wilderness Lodge. You probably won't even get seated on time--by then most restaurants are backed up at least 15-20 minutes, if not more.

You will not have time to do both WCC and Wishes Dessert. The boat ride alone is 15 mins and that is if you are picked up right on time. Waiting can be 20 mins or more. Dinner is about an hour if you are rushed and hurrying.

Personally I would skip the Dessert party, but that is just my opinion. We love WCC.

I have found any time you rush anywhere at WDW you lose the "magic" of the day.

I agree with Nancy. You'll feel too rushed during dinner to go from WCC to the Dessert Party. A CS in MK sounds good prior.

I wouyldn't even think you could make it from WL to MK for the dessert party. And that is WAY TOO MUCH food for my family. We'd do one TS and one CS, and maybe half a snack each day.

I would feel rushed, what happens if they don't sit you at your ADR time. I would try dinner at MK and then the dessert party and try WL another night. Celebrate his birthday the the you are there not just the day.:goodvibes

If my calculations are correct from your ticker, your son's birthday might be on September 15th. I don't know how many are in your party. I checked Disney Dining and they show availability at WCC for 5:45 pm for a table of 4 on 9/15. I tried 5:00 pm but 5:45 was the closest I found. It would still be a lot of food for one evening though. Seriously consider changing something from your original plan whether it be dinner time or dinner place. I'd go with CS, Crystal Palace or The Plaza Restaurant over Tony's.

An 8 year old would probably love the antics of the restaurant much more than the dessert party. Still try for an earlier ADR but then skip the dessert party that night.

Your son is turning 8 and you celebrating my making him sit in resturants all day? While these are fun meals most 8 year olds would rather be riding rides etc... I would do Chef Mickey's and the Desert party. Just have a CS meal mid afternoon at the MK.

Plus way too much of this day is spent going from Point A to Point B. While folks try to convince everyone that "Disney Transport" is wonderful....

You don't have time for anything between the breakfast which wont' be over until say 10:30 (if you get seated on time) and the Priates League. If you move dinner up, then it's get made up like a Pirate and immediately leave MK to go eat again...

I'd push WCC up as early as you can. Since you don't have a big lunch planned, an early dinner or even a really late lunch (don't know how late they serve lunch, but 2pm-ish) might work better. Good luck!

I would keep dinner and skip the dessert party, it gets some sketchy reviews and our boys LOVE Wilderness Lodge and WCC

There is no way you can do the WCC and Dessert at those times! It took us about 35 minutes each way via the ferry from MK to WL. I'd choose one or the other...whichever is easier to reschedule.

I definatley would not try to do WCC and desert party. Way too much food, too much traveling and not enough time to do both, especially at the end of a long day. Children your sons age love Chef Mickeys and i am sure he will enjoy the pirates league too. I would just do these two things in one day and enjoy your day at MK. Based on my experience from last year with two nine year olds, your son may be a little too tired to enjoy the desert party. Last year, I scheduled Breakfast at Boma, a few hours at Blizzard Beach and then the pirate cruise at 8 oclock or so at the contemporary resort. My children were really just to tired to enjoy the experience. It was a very cool experience though. Another day I planned making a T-shirt at DTD, a makeover at BBB in DTD, dining at CRT and a carriage ride at Port Orleans Riverside. I thought it would all be a magical day of pretending to be a princess for my daughters. However, after dining at CRT they were just two tired to make the trip to POR, so we just stayed in MK and enjoyed some rides before catching a bus back to AKL.

Thank you everyone for all of your opinions! I realize that i'm not going to be able to do WCC I did get an earlier res at Tony's at 5:30 and figured we could just have a light meal? But now I'm worried bc of the reviews of Tonys...I thought this was a good place...? My son isn't really into Winnie the Pooh, and I don't know what other choices I have I wanted to do a TS for the night of his birthday unless you can suggest good counter service?

I'd call the Wishes Dessert party the birthday celebration & just do a counter service, probably around 5:00. We like Cosmic Rays for ribs or chicken platter...or Columbia Harbor House for the tuna sandwiches. If you absolutely HAVE to do a table service in the Magic Kingdom, I'd go to The Plaza, again around 5:00, and have soup & salad or something equally light. The Plaza is a pretty place, some tables have a nice view of the Castle. Usually fairly easy to get reservations there.

If you're planning on having an "appetite" for that dessert party, I really would not get a meal reservation any later than 5:00...figuring even if you're seated on time, you won't finish eating until at least 5:45. That would at least give you a couple of hours for dinner to settle.:thumbsup2

I'd say pick one... WCC or the dessert party. I'd go with WCC definitely over the dessert party.
But nope, no way to do both. WCC is always one of our longer meals, and we eat quick. If it were us, with a 6:45 ressie I'd be estimating we'd be back in MK around 8:15 the absolute earliest. Usually from the time of our ressie till the time we get back is anywhere from 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
I'd say do WCC, get a good, fun meal in and skip the dessert party. Honestly, I never got what all the hype about the dessert party is, seems awfully expensive to me for a bunch of desserts.

edited... I see you ditched WCC and going with Tony's now. We've done Tony's many times. isn't the best Italian food, but we enjoy it. That 5:30 time definitely works so much better with the dessert party!
