Do you think there will be a Duggar/Bates Wedding?

I think there will be one eventually. The families sure are hoping for one, I'd say. They seem to get together quite often, and I think the kids know the parents would love for this to happen.

I'd say it's a good possibility.. They would certainly make a good match.. :)

I thought about that tonight too. I would imagine that they will marry one or more of the kids to the Bates.

I wonder though, the Bates seem to be in a completely different economic state than the Duggers. Also, the Duggers parents appear to be more educated than the Bates parents. The Duggers seem cleaner too. I know that the Duggers are sweet and wonderful people but I don't think they would be eager to marry a daughter off to live the way the Bates do.

That said I really like the Bates too. The matchy matchy dresses could go though.

Yup!

The Duggars have more $$$ since they get paid for their TV show, books, etc.

I agree with alot of what you said but did you see Anna's family's home? They all live in what looked like a single wide trailer to me so obvioulsy the Duggars look beyond economic status in friends/potential partners for their children. I would imagine that even the girls will stay in Arkansas when they marry I can't see Jim Bob & Michelle having them move away.

No I didn't see how Anna's family lived. You don't see much of Anna's family do you. I mean they learned they were having a granddaughter on national television (if they own a tv). Why were they not also live on the show?

Getting back to the girls getting married. Are any of them old enough? Plus I they do the bulk of the work so I don't see the Duggers giving them up any time soon.

My DS(10) commented yesterday while watching the show that the kids do work that you do...meaning his dad and I. I mean I am all for kids doing chores but I would never make my kids clean toilets.

but I would never make my kids clean toilets.

My girls fight over who gets to clean the toilet. I have no idea why?:confused3

Of course their brother is not potty trained yet.

As for a wedding, I would say that sheer numbers are in their favor that someone "might" get hitched.

As for Anna's family, I get the vibe that they prefer NOT to be on tv. It had been mentioned that the family did get together before and they talk alot and such and none of that was ever filmed/televised until the engagement episode. IOW--we hadn't a clue as the viewing public but the family had been friends for a couple of years prior. I'm not sure that we have ever been told what they do for a living, but a mobile home in FL is usually occupied by blue collar (and mostly low paid) workers.

As for the Bates--I take it that they are a hard working family. Maybe they are not debt free or they are and it took longer.

On the ice storm episode, the dad talked about never having a skill and how his dad said that he needed one. I believe he did say he was college educated but learned his skills after. They have the tree cutting business that they have grown and all of his older boys work in it.

I remember from the Silver Dollar City Episode that the girls like to make matching dresses. For some reason, I don't think it is something the mother requires. Just what they like to do. They are wholesome and it is refreshing to seem someone be polar opposite of Paris Hilton in their fashion likes.

my kids clean the toilet if I ask them too, why not?? They use it as much as their father and I do!!
My girls (at least the older two) will cut the grass as well. While they don't do these things as regular chores, I certainly expect them to do it if asked.

This is exactly what I'm thinking!

If you are talking about when they announced it on the 18 Kids and Counting show - that show was not live. That was pre-recorded like every other show and I would imagine Anna's family was not told like the rest of the world. I am sure they received a phone call or an in person announcment.

Cleaning toilets to me is just not a job for kids. Just a personal choice. Belive me my kids have tons of work around out house. I just don't think that should be one of them. Plus I like to make sure the job is done correctly and that mean the old hand in the toilet.

No I was talking about when they were on the morning show (today?) and they had the cake with the pink inside.

Okay - that I can understand.. You want it done a "certain" way..

I've never seen the Duggar children stick their hands in the toilet to clean it though, so I think it's an entirely different situation..:goodvibes

going to agree the odds are with them

more likely to be one of the boys
i dont think the duggars will rush the girl into marriage
they need them to take care of the little kids

kind of wonder what else they do all day
considering they mentioned some of the older ones are now done with school???

That was just Josh and Anna though. No other Duggars were there so why would Anna's family be invited?

They all found that out the same way at the same time if they were watching. It's not like Anna's family was left out - kwim?

Oh and as for the OP - YES I definitely see some sort of a Bates/Duggar union. The DUggars don't exactly have much to choose from - not many opportunities for them to find a spouse outside of their own family friends.

Did you see where Anna lived? They are not worried about economics. But it would be one of the Bates girls coming to the Dugger household anyway. The Bates boys are younger than the Dugger girls. However I think that Erin is older like Josh's age. Maybe one of the younger girls and John David. I think they mentioned once that they wait until the girls are around 20 before they start thinking about marriage so only Jana would be near that.

Anna's dad and brother work in outreach for the Florida Prison System. Some kind of faith based ministry.
