Do you think there are any natural Hollywood beauties out there? Do you think there are any women who have never had surgery, lipo, botox or anything? I think not.

If you right, that would explain why movies stars still look young and don't seem to age much. It's too bad no one wants to grow old gracefully and give us a role model to follow. The recent death of Olivia Goldsmith, author of "The First Wives' Club" points to this pressure. She died of the anaesthesia while undergoing a face lift.

Personally, I want my stars to look and resemble themselves as they grow older! Bea Arthur and Carol Burnett are almost unrecognizable. And I hate what surgery Tom Selleck had around his eyes, I just don't recognize the guy anymore and he sure isn't as handsome as he used to be. I wish he still looked like his old self.

I heard that beautiful actresses like Roz in Frazier and the wife in Everybody loves Raymond had face surgeries to tweak up what were already beautiful faces. Now if stars like that feel inadequate, what are we average people supposed to feel about our looks?

What made me think of this was when I read about the wife of Lionel Ritchie who is under 40 and her divorce request from Lionel. EACH MONTH she NEEDS $1300 for hair removal, $150 electrolysis, and a whopping $20,000 a year for plastic surgery. As far as I know she has no career herself.

I would say Jamie Lee Curtis. Only because she did that one magazine where she had on only bra and underwear and it wasn't touched up. She talks freely about aging. On the red carpet at the Oscars, she had gray in her hair and you can definitely see wrinkles (crow's feet?) around her eyes.

This is only a guess though. :p

Nope. I just did a search and read an article and she has had it in the past, but says she won't in the future. She's had at least lipo and botox from that article. In another interview she said “I did all of it in attempting to stave off (aging). It made me look worse and feel worse. What they say works doesn't.”

I was looking at Diane Keaton the other day, wondering if she has had work done. She probably has, but whoever did it did a good job. She looks good, not like most female actresses her age who look way scary from too much plastic surgery.

I don't know. According to Diane Keaton, she is against plastic surgery, so maybe she hasn't had any. I got a kick out of it a few years ago when Jane Fonda was selling her exercise tapes and touting her exercise rutine until we found out that she had some "work" done (lipo etc). Yeah, exercise and $50,000 worth of plastic surgery will have you looking like Jane does at her age!;)

I just saw a picture of farrah Fawcett and she looks gruesome! And my heart is broken over Robert Redford. Such a handsome man, with those craggy good looks. Now he doesn't even look like himself.

It must be weird to look in the mirror and no longer see "yourself".

I saw Bob Newhart recently and he looked his age, i.e. no face lift for him and I was impressed that he was not so superficial. Some people die because of the anaesethia administered during plastic surgery. People have gotten complacent but there is no such thing as "safe" or "routine" surgery. You're always taking a chance with your life.

See, I looked at Diane Keaton on the Barbara Walters special and couldn't believe how much she had aged. She has a ton of wrinkles. While that is very common, and she looks great, she looks like a 90 year old woman next to all the other botox'd to death women in Hollywood!

And my heart is broken over Robert Redford.

Oh, amen to that DD! That is just tragic what has become of him. :(

See, CBR, that is why I thought she looked great. She looks like a very well kept 60 year old woman. Not a 60 year old woman who has had a boatload of surgery and looks very very surprised! :p

The wife in Raymond didn't just have facial surgery to "tweak" a little, she has had a LOT of work done. She even wrote a book and admitted it all. Tummy tuck, breast lift among other things. She says it was to fix the wear and tear from having her children, the saggy breasts and extra belly. Welcome to the real world!
Robin M.

Melanie Griffith's lips look very strange. I saw Meg Ryan on tv the other day and she looked different, too.

I think what most people here are saying is that excessive cosmetic surgery is bad. I agree with that, but I don't agree that all cosmetic surgery is bad. If you have the ability and means to have it done, and find the right doctor, a good face lift combined with other cosmetic facial surgery can do wonders for someone, with out making them look like they have had anything done. I have met quite a few Disers, they had no idea I had some touching up, when they found out, they couldn't believe it, they saids but you look so good, why did you do it? That is exactly why I did it, I wanted to look like me, but better. And I do, my husband tells me that my doctor is an artist. He didn't see any reason for my getting it done, untill after I did and was healed. Now he says it's a good thing.

Editied because I can't type worht a darn.

I guess the pressure is there to have surgery if you live in those circles. I mean everyone is doing it and you are the only one your age looking older. It's sad, isn't it?

Personally I find it far more disturbing when an adorable young actress of a healthy size/weight turns into skin and bones a la Brittany Murphy.

Has Catherine Zeta Jones had any? What about Charlize Theron? Of course, they are all still young.....:p Lets face it....some of us Women age gracefully, some don't.:o

What about Lauren Bacall? She has wrinkles, but I think she looks great.

Robert Redford had work done??

Can anyone post a pic?

I always thought Joanne Woodward looks beautiful. I remember someone asking Paul Newman once if he ever thought of cheating and he said "Why go for hamburger when I got the steak".
