Do you think photopass is a good idea

My family and I do, but I think to unlock it's true potential you have to use it alot. For us pretty much anytime we saw a photopass guy who wasn't busy (except at the front of the parks anyway) we'd pop over and get a picture. Most of them were pretty cool and worked with the kid to set up some of the more special poses too (Tink in DD's hand, DS and DD holding ballons ect.). And under no circumstance settle for just one picture in front of the standard backdrops (The castle, Tree of Life, Micky's Hat or Spaceship Earth). Nothing will turn you off photpass more than getting home and seeing that the 1 picture you had took of the castle was bad...I think last time we wound up with a hundred or so pictures on the disk (I'm not sure, DW runs the pictures in our house...it was alot but it drove down the per picture cost of the CD we bought so it was all good.)

It's well worth it for all those posed shots, however, nothing beats having a camera for the candid moments. To truly get the best value, as the PP said you need to go out of your way to get to the Photopass Photographers when they are not tied up with a line and have them take multiple photos.

I wouldn't go to WDW without getting a PhotoPass CD! That's the only way I get to be in any of the photos! I have gotten so many great family pics that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise. Yes, I know the PhotoPass photographers are not professionals and don't always get a perfect picture, but if you use the previous poster's advice and have them take several photos of the important poses, you're almost sure to get a good one. We had about 100 on our CD from last trip, added to the 500 or so I took on our personal camera. I love being able to put a family shot in front of the park icons at the beginning of our photo album's section of that particular park, then add in all the fun candid shots. Another big plus was the number of PhotoPass photographers that there were at character spots last time. We got so many really cool pics of the kids with the characters and I was able to just stand back and enjoy....and wipe the tears from my eyes like usual!

Agreed :thumbsup2

Sometimes when we go we only will get a few pics taken and other times we will get over 100 but most of the pics turn out great and we always go home with atleast a few if not the whole cd!

when you have a photopass picture taken, give your camera to the photographer and they will take a picture for you also.

I think the photo pass is worth it. We had a group of 8 this past October and we had over 600 pictures by the end of the week. We go to Disney so often that we know where all the photo spots are located which helps. When the group split up we each had a card that we used and then combined them at the end of our vacation. :thumbsup2

The past two summers we shared the photopass with family members who were traveling at around the same time so it was well worth it. Our trip 2 years ago was during Tropical Storm Faye so we didn't have many pictures taken at all. Last summer we used it a lot. We'll be getting it again this summer. As someone else mentioned, the photographers are always happy to take your camera and take photos for you as well when they are done with their photopass photos.

Ditto!! I always made sure I had my camera ready because some of the PP pictures were horrible while the ones taken with my camera were decent!

Depends on if your family is ok with stopping to get alot of pictures.

We've done it in the past and DH, DS14 and DD10 have said they've had enough of doing that. I had to remind them that I'd like to be in a picture once in a while too.

Now I take the photopass pics once in a while and just buy the one that I like of all 4 of us unless there's a fabulous one of the kids w/characters and then I'll buy 2.

This is what we do- have them take the pic so everyone can get in some. We go through the motions, handing them the photopass card, etc, but we never bother to get the CD. I don't want to spend alot of time tracking photographers down to make the CD worth the $.

We've had great luck with PP. I'll second the one who said it's the only way the main photographer ends up in any of the pictures! I'm always the one taking the pictures on our camera, and it's great to see a whole slew of PP shots I'm actually in.

Last year, we were especially pleasantly surprised at Pixie Hollow. Our girls were wearing sundresses and little kerchiefs on their heads. Tink and her friends thought this was just great and took some extra time to play peek-a-boo with them, flipping the kerchiefs up and down over the girls' faces. DH and I were laughing and enjoying the moment, and it happened so fast that I just never got my bearings with our camera, but when we reviewed our PP pictures, there were a good dozen candid shots of that interaction, which are among our favorites from that trip. Priceless! Well, priced at the cost of the PP CD. ;)

So the bottom line for me is that we really have to commit to making the most of PP and getting lots of pictures. Then, once we have the CD, we can decide about prints for family, etc. We usually get a print or two from the PP site to get a border, too.

:)

love photopass!! wouldn't do it any other way. make sure to get a bunch of photo though so that the CD is worth is money wise!!
Magical Wishes:wizard:

Best thing since sliced bread you can get like 600 + photos on there and then on the photopass webiste you can add your own pics...very much worth the money :thumbsup2

photopass is completely worth it!:thumbsup2 take many pictures and try to stop at as many stops as you can. (*castle, mickeys hat, tower of terror, rockin roller coaster, mount everist, etc.) there are many great, amazing spots to get your picture taken and definitely make the CD worth buying!:cool1:

We loved photo pass especially the water park shots! When we last went it was cheaper if you prepaid.

I loved my photopass pictures. It was nice to have such great pictures of us all with the icons in the background without having to ask a random person to take it. We also loved the ones where they added Stich in as an effect afterwards. It was nice to have great pictures at the character meetings to.

I wish they would add the ride pictures to it

I always order the photopass CD (I bring a camera as well) . We have a lot of pictures taken and some of my family members complain-not another picture! But when we get home and put together a beautiful photobook everyone sings a different tune, I love photopass because you can get some speciality shots and I can actually be in some of the pictures instead of having to play the role of designated photographer!! I also take my granddaughter to BBB and I can have those photos added to the CD so in the long run for us it's really worth it.
