My parents now say "you're going again" all the time. My wife and I have not told any of our family members (besides our kids) about buying into DVC. One day we will but we just keep on enjoying quality family vacations on our own and enjoying a break from the stress of every day life.

This is really it. It isn't jealosy. I'm not jealous of my friends who are going camping AGAIN. In fact, I can't understand for the life of me why anyone would go through THAT a second time. Sleeping on the ground, bugs, campfood, latrines - not my thing. But they love it. And they can't understand why anyone would want to go to a hot crowded theme park, stand in line, and see kitchy attractions (and yes, they've been to Disney, didn't do anything for them) more than once.

I'm a little ashamed to admit that I've gone into a closet a little bit where this issue is concerned. I don't have any children, so I can't use them to explain why I go to WDW. I tell my friends and family where I go, but at work, I only tell them about every fourth trip. For the other trips, I just say I'm going somewhere else. I just don't feel like explaining myself or justifying what I do.

Yes, we get the "again" comment from friends and from family too. But I'm used to it. It reminds me of when my wife and I used to go see the Grateful Dead multiple times all over the country and anytime we told someone that we were going to go see the Dead, the response would be '"Again?!?!"

The real question is why does it matter to you if someone says "again"?

I get that question a lot, but then I travel to vacation spots about 8-9 weeks a year. Winter I stay home but as soon as it warms up I hhit the road. I call it my travel season.

When people would use the "again" word on me I felt odd. Then I realized it was because I felt guilty. I have a job and personal schedule that allows me to travel when I want. I've also found ways to afford that road lifestyle. I'm extraordinarily lucky. Kinda like having a kitchen full of food when others get a meager bowl of gruel a day.

We get it A LOT - but we've also learned who amongst family & friends understands, and just talk about it with them!!! Everyone we know seems to have "their place" that they love...but for many of them it's the beach, the mountains or camping - for us it's Disney, and THAT'S OK!!

I think this is right on the money. I deal every day with folks who literally LIVE for their National Parks vacations. Many of them have the same complaints -- other people who are not familiar with the parks "don't get it."

It's just a question of what people know, and what their interests are. We have DVC; a friend has a bass boat, another has a motorhome. Different strokes...

I don't always think it's jealousy. I think that they think of Disney as parks, and how many times can one go to a park before they get tired of it? When I get the "again?" question, I try and tell them all of the things we're going to do that aren't park related. Then, I think it makes a little more sense. I really think many people that have only been to Dis once or twice ever think of it as staying for 3 - 4 days and running shotgun. For many of us, our Disney vacations just aren't like that anymore.

If I don't get the confused look of "why are you going there again," I get the "wouldn't you like to travel to different places around the world?" We will...but for now, I love DVC and being from OH, we can drive or fly there relatively easily. Now that we've purchased at VB, we can tie a beach vacation into it, too! In my book, it doesn't get any better!!!

Been getting this for years.

DW "liked" WDW prior to getting married, 8 years later we've been 12 times (from honeymoon to DD's first 4 trips) and just bought DVC last month, I think it's safe to say she loves it now!!!

Some get it, others don't. Just like I don't get how people go snow skiing or rock climbing or run a marathon...it's just not my cup of tea. For some of those folks, WDW is just not the right tea for them either. Just yesterday I talked with 2 of my colleagues who can't stand it...boy was I appalled, but happily bragged about my new DVC!!!

I know some folks just scratch their heads...but it's a passion for my family, quite simply, we just love the place. I've loved it since I was a kid and now get to see it through my children's eyes.

My parents told me to find something you love and do it for the rest of your life...as long as we stay married to the mouse...no problem!!!

The National Park thing is so true...we had some friends that we were taking out on a houseboat for vacation. They were driving over 5 hours to meet us at the lake. They were really late and we could not figure it out. Oh we had to stop at a National Park to get our passport book stamped! I have to admit I did not get it!

I would much rather get a pin or autograph at Disney

We have another trip planned and just told DDs about it....also told them not to talk about it with random people- What am I doing? That's like we're ashamed of going "again." Maybe when they wake up tomorrow, I'll tell them they should tell everyone they know!

I get so sick of hearing it- especially from people who have "their" place like Cancun, Wisconsin Dells, Camping, etc. Or from people who don't do ANYTHING and are waiting for their kids to be 9 and 12 "so they can enjoy it"

That's why I'm here! I don't have to explain myself and my disney obsession!

Well I have to chime in here as the National Parks are near and dear to our family. We love WDW but it does not even hold a candle to our National Park system. I hope to spend a summer working in one when we retire.... (and then winters in WDW!)

I do believe everyone in our country (especially childen) should see some of our National Parks so they know what treasures they will be giving up if we lose them. It's a difficult concept to protect something you've never seen. Disney is man made and well done but there's nothing like nature and you don't have to camp to enjoy the National Parks (although some of the NP lodging feels like you're camping ).

Nope, I don't get it. I've been to many National Parks over the years, even have one of those free entry passes for life (the disabled one... very cool the Parks system does that). But I can't say I have a burning desire to visit each and every one.

At least no more than just wanting to see the world in general. My desire is to see and touch the places that capture my imagination most. In college that was California, most specifically San Francisco. I went out there for a trip and just lived it. Etched the memories into my brain.

Last year it was London. I adore history so tend to like places that are steeped in it. Williamsburg is a great place for its trifecta of historic areas.

But point me toward a collection of trees and rocks and I'm not so impressed. Of course it might be because without a bit of human technology I can't get around the darn places. Wheels don't do so well up mountains and over sand.

One of the nicest parks I've been to lately: Jamestown Island. You get to walk around the excavations of the early settlement, explore the island on foot and take a scenic car ride over the swamps and into the further regions of the island. They did a very nice job for the 400 anniversary.

As a pp said, dh and I don't have kids and get strange comments. My 8 yo niece has decided that DH and I are quite immature, and more childish than she and completely abnormal. I think her being too old for Disney is just sad. She said it was too expensive.

I try not to talk about it with my family ever since I was told that I was "in a rut" by my SIL for travelling to Disney as often as I do, which I do not think is that often..... but on the other hand, their children always ask me for advice when they go down to WDW with their children. They also lament to me that their parents would never take them down to WDW when they were young, while they always would see me enjoy Christmas vacations at WDW with my family.

I hear that some times but the main thing I got when we bought in was from my YoungBride.
My YB said that she did not want to be limited to vacations at Disney for the rest of her life. Of course I agreed and then took the blame for whatever bad was going on in the world that day and everything went well.

I always catch "slack" from co-workers and family. We try to go at least 3 times a year MINIMUM. I have the CHASE check card for continental airlines and i get a mile for every dollars I spend. Paying bills and rent with this card fuels my Onepass account for free airfare But I like weekend trips to get my Disney Fix

We spend lots of time traveling to Boston, New Orleans, New Jersey, Tennessee and Florida. I do say Florida, not WDW, because yes, people do seem to at least raise an eyebrow otherwise. We also have AP's for Dollywood and I say "Going to the Smokies" because that's a "given" for those trips as well.

For about 15 years I've had a National Park passport and I love to get the stamps from different destinations. I consider the visit the most important and the stamp as a souvenir. Sometimes I look at the passport, see the date, and just picture the day and the experience. This past January we were at Sarasota, Florida with friends, and I noted that De Soto National Memorial was nearby, so we went. However we got there just before closing, and all I had time to do was glance at an exhibit and get my book stamped. When I take my book out in the future and see that stamp, I will have to laugh at myself because the stamp was "it". We had to rush to the car to get it off the premises because they were locking the gates and the locals who walked there could stay but we would have been stranded there for the night if we didn't get our car out in time! Our friends will probably have lots of laughs at my expense. Oh well...we're very good friends! Our "real" NP destinations for this year is Yellowstone and Grand Teton

When our kids were young, we went to WDW every 3 years and that was fine. There is so much more to WDW now, and I'm not surprised that so many people describe their visits as "commando." We feel very very lucky that we don't have to do that.
