Do you think new Direct deals are coming?

I would just love to see them waive closing costs for old resorts for existing members (I've heard they used to.)

Wishful thinking.

I am interested in (eventually) adding on at CCV. We own at BRV (direct + resale) and AKL (resale) now, but I know we'll want to be able to book Wilderness Lodge after 2042, so that means CCV. I wouldn't mind having more direct points, but $220/point is more than I want to pay, so I'm hoping there's a good direct deal that comes out for CCV. Otherwise, I'll just wait for a good resale deal, because I'm very likely to buy Reflections direct when it comes out.
We're in the same boat as you...looking to add on to our current direct CCV points as well with CCV either direct if they lower the price to near what we paid before or resale but would rather do direct if the deal is good since then its possible to use all our combined points for Riviera or Reflections (due to resale restrictions). If not then resale it is and maybe buy Reflections direct as well depending on how the resort turns out.

Copper Creek did have an incentive but you have to buy i think 135 or 170 or 200 I think and you got $2,000 off, $4,000 or $6,000. That incentive ended Yesterday but I would bet it comes back at that or better.

Ya I saw that page, I want more of an incentive to buy direct though, they are nuts at $220/pp. We dont like Riv enough to want points there and the resale restrictions are a huge negative. And for CCV as an addon its still a bit to high with their incentives they just had. I could just get CCV resale, then SSR direct to move into the easier to get room categories for Riv. and Ref. if we wanted to go that route. Or just stay less nights using our current direct points and CCV resale. Lots of options but open to direct if they make it good enough to go that route.

I don't think honestly the incentives for CCV will be much different since its 96-97% sold out already. If I were you I'd just buy resale copper creek and try to snag it now for $125-$135 if you can while ROFR is down. Especially if you already have the blue card benefits.

I was thinking about this again today after I saw that Disney put out a prospectus for another bond offering.

Disney has something like a billion dollars in unsold Riviera points to go with a chunk of Aulani points and a smattering of CCV points, and while I know they generate rental revenue while they wait, Disney could REALLY use large sums of cash that require minimal new capital outlays when they reopen.

IDK anything, but if I were them I’d offer a fire sale on all 3 resorts with REALLY strong incentives to increase the number of points purchased.

Of course, the sales office has to open first. I wonder if there will be anyone staffing the kiosks at Disney Springs next week...

I’m really anxious for direct sales to start back up. I don’t want to use up all of my potential DVC purchasing money on resale until I see what the direct incentives might be. I suspect there will be good deals. But its also possible that they may not offer them immediately.

I’d bet if they would lower the minimum required points purchase for direct benefits they’d sell a lot of smaller contracts. There has to be tons of people with Resale points who would buy in at say 50 but won’t at 100. I doubt they’ll do that but I’d definitely take advantage if they did.

I don’t think any of the unsold resorts will offer any discounts above the last one - if they did - they’d have a bunch of angry owners demanding a refund for the price difference.

Can we have some fun speculating on what the incentives might be? What would you like to see? I will start by dreaming that you get 50% more points than you pay for! Wouldn’t that be fun! :yay:

I really haven't looked into it but if they can get low rates on those funds they might just be taking advantage of that vs an immediate pressing need for the cash. I do think they maybe had some payments coming up soon so just replacing the debt?

That is what they said they were going to do with a portion of it, but that’s still debt that they had planned to retire that they are now paying interest on. I have no doubt their terms are relatively favorable but OTOH with each new bond issuance the rates will get worse and worse. That ~billion dollars in salable inventory is going to look better and better each day.

They just recently raised them, didn’t they?

Absolutely - Dream Away!

Yes, I think it coincided with the start of Riviera sales. They really needed to do it to as the number of small contract owners really has been placing added pressure on studio availability plus there's the increased cost per member maintenance.

Here's one that isn't speculation but rather an amazing wish. Current DVC members who bought resale can negate their points RIV restrictions with a 50 point direct purchase of RIV.

Yeah. I'm dreaming mostly, but maybe the drop in direct sales might encourage them to reverse that decision. I'm sure it won't - at least until after I am a sucker and buy 100 of course.
