Do you think new Direct deals are coming?

The current direct offers end today. Do you think Disney will release new direct offers and if so, do you think the incentives will be greater?

I would be interested in a small contract to get the "perks" as I own resale and want the blue card.

With resale prices getting more attractive , some prices rolled back to several years ago they would be foolish not to put out a nice offer

Around these parts, we alway hear “ Disney is playing the long game” there will be plenty of post to say why there will be no discounts and how the name brand alone will be enough to justify the price. Disney’s name won’t be able to live up to the same hype if they keep shafting the ones that support them during economic downturns.

@Matty B13 Thanks for the link. I thought the minimums were lower when they first put in the restrictions back in 2016.

I am interested in (eventually) adding on at CCV. We own at BRV (direct + resale) and AKL (resale) now, but I know we'll want to be able to book Wilderness Lodge after 2042, so that means CCV. I wouldn't mind having more direct points, but $220/point is more than I want to pay, so I'm hoping there's a good direct deal that comes out for CCV. Otherwise, I'll just wait for a good resale deal, because I'm very likely to buy Reflections direct when it comes out.

Has Disney ever incentivized "sold out" resorts?

I assume they will hold off doing anything until they reopen the DVC resale offices. But yes, I imagine we will see aggressive discounting on Riviera and Aulani, probably with some specific guarantee around the initial allocation of points.

I think you'll see some type of deal announced once the parks open back up. I doubt they are selling many direct contracts right now and a deal isn't going to change that. With resale prices dropping, they'll need to do something to try to get people to buy direct.

They are closed so they can’t sell direct right now

They were, it was only 25 points. It then went to 75 at some point and last September to 100.
You don't have to buy 100 or 75 if you get the right agent. Our agent in January was going to let us buy 50 as new members at Riviera.

That was with reference to getting the blue card. You can buy less but that doesn't help with getting the direct benefits.

Hmm...if perks are good enough buying direct may work out as well as resale depending on resort. If I “have” to pay $155 per point for GF or $140 for BLT/Poly resale a *really* good deal for Riviera May be appealing

As mentioned, this was for perks. I know you said you were offered it, but I’m surprised

That happened to me years ago, Guide said something and then cam back and said he couldn’t make it happen...it had been nixed by a supervisor,

I wonder if you had agreed if the higher ups would have approved.

There are almost always incentives (discounts) offering so much per point off the full selling price. I wouldn't be surprised to see them offered again once sales resume. A short term extra special priming of the pump would make a lot of sense to try and get sales moving again.

They have but it's been very rare and I can't recall the exact details. I think once was either with OKW or might have been SSR - long after they were "sold out". And one time with price changes they rolled back the direct price of VB.
Years and years ago we combined a current resort with a small contract from a sold out to achieve the required levels to obtain additional incentives. I haven't heard of that happening for quite awhile though.

I've had that happen too.
