Do you think I have enough vouchers?

I have never used Connections Vouchers before and I am eager to try them out on our next trip. I'm finding that judging how many to get is very tricky. I have been studying the menus on Deb Wills site. It looks like a lot of places take the vouchers, but in some scenarios, it would be a challenge to break even (cost of food less than the price of the vouchers). I can see there will be an education process for my family (i.e. don't use the vouchers for a $4.00 salad!).

Anyway, here is our situation: 4 adults staying for 8 days and 7 nights.
We have 20 Breakfast vouchers: (we have ressies for 2 character breakfasts and additionally we plan to eat at Grand Floridian, Kona and Contemp for breakfast. All other Breakies will be light pastries, toast, et'c.)
We have 4 out of 7 dinner meals for which we have PS and no vouchers are involved with these.
One evening meal will be B & C.
We have 10 Lunch Vouchers : We plan to use Lunch Vouchers for Alfredos and Concourse Steak House. (possibly one more lunch at Le Cellier, if we double up on the coupons).
We have 20 Q & C vouchers: We will use these for light lunches for days we have sit down dinner reservations. We will use them for light suppers on days we use the lunch vouchers. We will also buy some coupons at the AK to try out the meal deal they have there. I don't have vouchers for 1 voucher for each person for every meal, but I am wondering if I should?
What do you think? Do you think we have enough or too many?

It's sounds like a lot of vouchers and food to me. How old are your kids? I don't think you need a voucher for each person. Remember, you are getting appetizer, entree, and dessert? Can everyone in your party eat that much?

It sounds like alot (althought with 4 adults-it might not be) BUT If you find you have too many you can always come back and sell them. I rather have more than less in this case.. Have a great time!!!!

Karel and singitalto,

I am glad to hear you say that!

The adults consist of my Mom, DH and myself. DS is almost 14 years old. DS can have an appetite that exceeds DH and myself together sometimes! As far as sharing, my vision is to 1 voucher for Mom (she is on a special low salt/low fat diet--she probably won't use the dessert--but somebody will!) and probably 2 vouchers between the remaining 3 of us--supplementing with an additional salad as needed.

I just can't wait to try these vouchers out!

I brought 2 Q & C vouchers for each person for each day. and we came home with 10 vouchers..
there were 10 adults so I bought 120 vouchers for six day, we didnt buy any for the kids. we had 5 kids ages 7, 4, 3, 2, 1.
so you think you will need a lot, but believe me disney gives you a lot of food for the money. we could have used less Voucher instead of throwing food out.. like at B and C. we wasted alot of food..

That does sound like a lot, you can always sell them, or check back here.. there are usually posts all the time for people to buy them. I've bought them (only 2) though, from someone here on the DIS

I just joined Connections and could only order 10 quick and casuals...how do you get 20 of them???

ceecee,
I just put in 2 orders. It wouldn't let me order anymore than 10 at a time, either. Actually, I put a third order in for some vouchers for my sister's family, too. (She was a little more cautious in the number she ordered). I don't know what the upward limit is as to how many you can order. (Maybe someone else might know).

tink2dw,
Yes! If we have any left overs, it would be very nice to use them on our next trip. (It will cut some of the expense :)

veraletta,
I think you did a fine job of planning--you were over by less than 10%--for a group that large, that is great! (did you have a family re-union?) I really hate to see food go to waste, too. I like to double up where I can! I can't wait to try B & C on a voucher.

Thanks.. We did have a small family reunion.. my 2 grown children and grandchild went we had a good time.
The only thing diffent I would do is shared more food.
as in B and C they really give you too much food .. and we did order the kitchen sink.. and no we didnt finish it.. no where near it..just the top part of it...

we did try to give other families a chance to have a kitchen sink for free..as they said we could order as many kitchen sink for each voucher we were using..
and you know what no one would take a free one.. and there were a few big family there.. I couldnt understand why they wouldnt have one.. we tried everyone in the place.. but no go..oh well maybe in oct .. we can try again...

I ordered 8 A and 8C Breakfast vouchers, 12A and 12C lunch feature vouchers and 15 Q&C's for July. We were there for 14 days). I came home with 1 Q&C and 4A and 3C lunch feature. I will easily use these on my next trip. If you don't use them you can send them back to Connections for a refund or you may be able to find someone to sell them to. The lunch feature was the voucher that gave the most for the money and there was just so very much food that we did not always use 4 for each meal. 4 appetizers and 4 desserts are a lot of food to start and end a meal with. We found it less expensive to use two vouchers and pay for a few extras rather than order a lot of food that would not be eaten. Sometimes we used 2 vouchers for the kids and DH and I split while I ate the kids leftovers and shared with DH.

If anyone here ends up with one extra breakfast voucher and four extra lunch ones, I would be interested in buying them. I've obtained 8 QCs already and possibly 3 breakfast ones (pending). Since this will be our first trip, I want to start off with just a few of each. My DW and DSs (5 & 8) don't eat much to begin with.

I just tried to do another order and a red sign comes up that says I have met my limit for the year. Did they just change this or what?

I checked out the Connections website and they do not tell you alot about this program. I understand there is a Quick & Casual voucher (for counter service) but is there Breakfast and Dinner vouchers also? I am considering joining but I am in the dark about the different types of vouchers. When you join do they send you a book explaining the program? Thanks for any help!!!:p

CC,
I get a slightly different message.(I just went over and tried it again) I put 10 Q & C's in my shopping cart and then there is a warning flag as follows:

"You placed 10 items in your shopping cart from this page.
With this order, you will reach the maximum limit allowed for this benefit. You have a grand total of 10 items in your shopping cart "

I then click on the view shopping cart link and it takes me to my shopping cart where I see all 10 vouchers.

I am not sure why your is different...

That is the message I get, so maybe I just didn't go far enough, will try again. thanks.

when I talked to Connections about being able to only order 10 voucher on their website, they told me it was how the website was set up.. that their are limits on some of the stuff, that you can only get 10 gift cards.. like for toy r us.. but on Q and C voucher you can get as many as you want.. but the website will not let you.. you have to call them and order them. I was told this in March by Connections at their 1 800 number.

Ethelina,
There are 3 vouchers you can buy:
1. Breakfast Feature (adults=17.50 each)
2. Quick and Casual Lunch or Dinner (11.00 each)
3. Vacation Kingdom Lunch (adults=29.50 each)
There is a good explanation over at Mousesavers.Com--though Mousesavers has nothing to do with these vouchers--they just put up some information because a lot of people have questions (and even after you join connections, there is not a whole lot of info)

link to brief explantion

Link to more in depth explanation of vouchers including participating restaruants

and tammeb,

link to join connections

ceecee,
Did you get to make a second order?

-DC :)

Thank you for the info!! It seems these can be a great deal if you pick your food wisely! Thanks again!
