Do you think eating at a monorail resort is a hassle?

Every day we plan on leaving for a break after a CS lunch. On a couple of those days, we were going to first eat dinner at monorail resort (Ohana once and 1900 PF once) say around 5:00 before returning to either Epcot or MK. Is it not worth the hassle?

WDYT?

not sure really what you are asking....but getting to a monorail resort from the MK is a breeze - just hop the resort express monorial and it will take you to the hotel and then you can hop it again after dinner back to the MK

you can also take it to the TTC and switch to the EPCOT monorail after dinner if you want to do EPCOT at night...

you can also take a boat from MK to Poly and GF

Doesn't sound like a hassle ... :confused3

I'm in overthinking mode right now. I guess I just meant a hassle to first leave the park to hotel, then take hotel shuttle to MK or Epcot, then take transpo to monorail resort, then transpo back to whichever park we want. We are not staying on a monorail resort so was questioning the waste of time to do all that transferring being worth the dinner. I guess.

I need to quit thinking. LOL

OK...it is actually quite easy , just take the bus to MK (not EPCOT) and hop the monorail or the boat - I would suggest the boat for Poly or GF...and yes the meals are worth the "hassel" ;)

my concern is that you are going to eat a CS for lunch then an early dinner...make the lunch really early or skip it all together and have a late breakfast then a snack! :thumbsup2

I figured we'd do a CS lunch at about 11 AM. My kids usually eat lunch at 11:45 and we tend to have dinner around 5-5:30 so I think anything later than that and it will be meltdown city.

We may even do a CS breakfast at the hotel and then just a snack for "lunch" I'm playing breakfast & lunch by ear most days to be honest. I don't want to be THAT vacationer. ;)

We do it all the time, no problems. I love a lot of the restaurants on the monorail line.

I have the same plan for most of our days. Park until lunch time, naps at resort, then dinner at another resort. It's super easy to shuttle to the MK and get on the monorail. The only non-park ADRs I have for dinner are at the monorail resorts.

Sounds pretty much the same as our plan. We love the monorail resort restaurants. They are pretty much a must for us.

It's really no biggie, but I know when we first started to adventure out of just the parks and our resort, it seemed intimidating. Once we were familiar, it's been on the itenerary every trip. My son INSISTS that we go to the "hula girl restaurant", aka O'hanas, EVERY TIME we go to WDW. Go and have a great time!!!!!

It's worth the hassle ! Think of the restaurant choices you have at the three Resorts. You have buffets at all three, you have "comfort food" being offered, you have atmosphere being offered, you have "fine dining" being offered - you have it all. If your option is to not eat at all, then ,maybe it's a hassle; but if you are either going to eat at MK or at one of the "Monorail Resorts", IMHO it's a simple choice - do it ! However, if you are talking about EPCOT - that's a very different story. There are so many restaurant choices at EPCOT that it would be hard for you to pass them all up. Up "front" you have "The Coral Reef", and in "the back", well... pick a country !

For days where you are planning to go back to the MK, I'd say it's very simple and doesn't take much more time than eating in an MK restaurant.

For days where you are planning to go back to Epcot, I'd say it's not really worth the effort since there are so many great Epcot restaurants. I'd rather take the bus directly to the park, eat there and then enjoy the rides.

The plan you're talking about works great -- but as a PP said, take your resort bus to Magic Kingdom, then get the resort monorail at the Magic Kingdom (if you go to Epcot, it takes 3 steps to get to monorail resorts because Epcot monorail doesn't go directly to the MK monorail resorts.)

If you don't want to do the buffets/characters/hubbub & noise, all three monorail resorts have good table service restaurants that are kid-friendly places, but quieter & more relaxing -- Kona Cafe at the Polynesian, The Wave at the Contemporary and the Grand Floridian Cafe at the Grand Floridian. All 3 places had families with little ones when we were there, and all three have good food choices.

Not at all, at least not for us. It is pretty smooth traveling. We also sometimes take a boat from the MK over to Narcoossee's at the GF. It is a nice relaxing ride over. We have also taken the monorail and have walked from the MK over to the Poly on many different occasions.
