Soon to help get back some of the revenue that they lost with the Hurricanes? I am thinking that they will have great incentives to get people there.. but I am not as experienced as you guys.. what do you think?

Hmmm....I'm not so sure that Disney has to really worry about that. They'll make back any lost revenue pretty quickly. Besides those who cancelled during the hurricane probably rescheduled for a later date anyway.

I don't think so their great deals aren't so great anymore & they are harder to get. They let these hotel.com companies buy blocks of room for the discounted price that's not fair. I may stop going to Disney all together after our annual passes run out. Kids getting older can switch to Universal.

Really? I got a great deal on Pop Century with our APs for Dec. and I feel pretty confident that I will get a good AP rate on either WL, AKL or the Swan in May 2005 (those are my choices, in order... I feel pretty good that at least one of them will work out).

I just checked a few of the hotel sites and found some decent rates on AKL for mid November ($164.00 per night for a savannah view).

Heck, if I could fit in another trip this year, I'd grab it. :)

I don't see a problem with the orbitz & expedias having blocks of rooms, they are available to everyone and a good alternative if AP rates are not available for your dates.

I posted about this subject the other day. A consumer reporter on one of our news channels here in Georgia said that a 60 million dollar advertising and promotional blitz was underway to bring tourists back to Florida. He said that WDW would be included.

So there may be something soon on the horizon.

Wonder how strong their bookings are for the rest of 2004 - that would give some idea as to whether they need to discount.

I DO expect good discounts for late Aug-Sept. 2005... People who travel during these times usually have some flexibility w/ their schedules (since kids are back in school, etc.) and suspect a lot of people will be reluctant to make reservations during this time and risk hurricanes - unless it's a pretty good deal.

I'm curious as to whom the reporter was. Clark Howard? I'd like to look up that news story and read it.

Even the station if you can remember.

Agree Hurricane Season '05 could present WDW with challenges. Would look for some package discounts especially Aug-Sept-Oct '05. WDW won't be alone in FL with this challenge. Retiring boomers watched this wretched Year of the 'Canes.

I have a feeling we might see some great deals for next Aug/Sept/Oct as that is prime hurricane season. Having been down there with Jeanne coming, I will tell you I'm going to think long and hard before returning in this timeframe....

I really don't think that Disney will HAVE to offer discounts to lure visitors. I think the beach areas will have a problem. Some people will remember something like Pensacola Beach being hard hit, and they won't even bother to check it out further for several years.

I don't know. One of my mother's co-workers called the Condo in Destin the day AFTER Ivan to announce she was coming. The Condo owner told her she was crazy and that if she showed up she had no place to stay.

Some people may have missed this whole event!!! (This woman felt certain that after a few days things would be back to normal. She doesn't watch much news!):earseek: :earseek:

It was Bill Liss on Channel 11. It was just a quick blurb and he didn't elaborate when I saw it on the news, and he doesn't in the short statement on the website either, so I don't know what it all means.

Here ya go! It is at the bottom of the page. :)

Hmmm... great rates in August might get me back down there.

I had a great girls trip with my DD's and would be up for another if the price was reasonable.

Does Disney let people refund if they cancell due to a hurricane?

I'm looking at late August into Sept. 2005. I'm alittle concerned about next years hurricane season but I'm not going to let it deter me in making plans. Both of my kids graduate next year so I'm looking forward to taking this trip as their present for graduation. Ofcourse, I'd love a good rate and know that usually rates are lowered around this time anyway, but a deeper discount would be nice too!

We are planning a 2 week trip next October. We want to go the last full week of October and the last week/October first week of November.

We plan to do MNSSHP a few times, and be there for my birthday on Nov 2 and then leave Nov 3.

Right now we have a huge time share condo for $750 for the week for one week and want to book the second week at an onsite resort so if there is a good deal we may be able to stay somewhere better. :)

I dunno, if we find a good deal for the first week at WDW where we can get a room for cheaper than $750 for the week, we may stay both weeks onsite.

My vote is that Disney will offer great rates and packages for next hurricane season - Aug/Sept/Oct 2005.

Am HOPING that they continue to offer really good AP rates. I swear Disney gets more money out of me because I have an AP!

That's when we'll be going, so hopefully we will see some good deals. :teeth: :jumping3: :cheer2:

Would like to hear from others who were at WDW in any of the hurricanes this year: Will you go back in 'cane season?

I was at Disney in Sept. 1999 during Hurricane Floyd. I would go back during hurricane season. They did close the parks on Sept. 14th (our 1st day there) but the rest of the week was fine. In fact, because Floyd made his way up the coast, alot of people couldn't fly in and we didn't have any crowds. We were going to stay at FW cabins, but they closed them, and we got 2 rooms at Dixie Landings for the same rate. All in all, Disney handled it well so that's why I'd go back and just hope I can fly in and out.

I for one are not going to plan our WDW trip during Sept and early Oct next year. We will try for early Dec.
We had to pull teeth to get extra time off from our jobs to reschedule our sept/Ivan trip for nov. now i can't even get through WDW-DINE to get my ressies for nov. Plus the agony of living on the coast, boarding up our house, plus watching two areas for landfall, our home, Pensacola and Orlando was something i can't handle....
People don't really realize it is more than vacations that get ruined with hurricanes. I am blessed, I still have walls and a roof (with a tarp, but I'll take IT)
so end my venting, we will shoot for middle nov, or early dec. (thanks for listening, i needed to vent!):earsgirl:
