Do you think Disney will ever do away with Pepper Market?

I know it is not a DW owned. Are there any rumors or plans to do away with it and replace it with the typical Disney counter service? It just seems so misplaced. Especially in a convention resort setting. The cross between sitting down and counter service seems so inconvenient and misplaced for those attending conventions and those trying to get to parks quickly. I know there are those die-hard CSR fans who love it, but I hear more the opposite review.

As one of those die hard CSR fans who love it, I sure hope not.:rotfl: It's the best CS on property if you are on the DDP. My husband and I made a special trip over there this past Oct to eat lunch, because we don't like any of the options at Disney Studios. He got a Mexican steak, with black beans, rice, guacamole, and jalapenos and I got a steak with baked potato and grilled veggies. We then each got a piece of delicious cake (one with oreos and one with fresh strawberries). We took them outside to eat at one of those tables by the lake, avoiding the mandatory 10% tip. This past Dec I got a HUGE taco salad there for lunch one day, plus a huge piece of one of their fancy cakes. We didn't ask either of those times, but in the past I have also been able to get a strawberry smoothie as my beverage. No where else on property could I get a meal like that for a CS credit. At the Pepper Market you can get Mexican food, steaks, salmon, salads, pasta, burgers, hot and cold sandwiches, grilled veggies, pizza, and some really good specialty desserts. For breakfast you can get nice breakfast platters, french toast, waffles, fresh made omlets, fruit plates, and nice specialty bakery items. You can also watch them make your entree right in front of you. Other than being a little expensive (if you are not on the DDP) and the required 10% tip (which you can avoid if you take your tray to go outside to sit at one of the booths/tables out by the lake--which is where we'd rather sit anyway), I've never understood people's complaints about it.:confused3

I hope not.:headache: We've always had such good food at PM. Service is sometimes lacking, but the food has always been a step above all other CS meals we've had.

We really enjoyed it. We never ate inside so we didn't really have any issues with the cross between service. The outdoor area was so wonderful to eat at we always took our food outside and ate. I thought the food was good and never had any issues. I'd vote it's a keeper!!

. . . The cross between sitting down and counter service seems so inconvenient and misplaced for those attending conventions . . .

1) It actually gets good marks from Conventioners.
2) They like it better than a traditional buffet.
3) And, it is more convenient than a sit-down.

I am quite intrigued to try it. I know it gets a lot of negative press but it sounds like the food you get for a counter service credit is quite the deal. I have heard that you can get a large pizza (enough to feed 4) and take it back to your room for a CS credit compared to having pizza delivered to your room at 2 TS credits!

I really like the Pepper Market. They have a lot of variety so everyone has something they like. I think a lot of the negativity comes from the different way they operate as opposed to the quality of the food. So many people break down into a panic the second something is a little different than what they are used to.

Another fan of Pepper Market here. I hope it doesn't change. Quality, interesting, fresh food. It is different- much better, in my opinion, than the typical counter service. Perhaps the detractors are really just looking for the typical burger/fries/pizza/iceberg lettuce salad- or perhaps they're just annoyed by the 10% service charge (that seems to be the complaint I've most often heard)....

I like Pepper Market just fine, and though I haven't done so yet, I think it would be the only resort CS that I might make a special trip to eat at. (OK, Cap'n Cooks might be another, but only because it's a short monorail ride away from MK.)

We enjoyed it....I had the steak and fries...I had to try it just because I was on the dining plan... I rarely (never) have steak for lunch I was pleased, but I would not pay OOP for the steak.. My nephew had the chili cheeseburger and it was great and I would pay OOP for it. Cornado Springs is gorgeous! I think we might try to stay there the next time we visit WDW! If you aren't staying there and you are using disney buses the trip to pepper market isn't worth it however.:confused3

Definitely no plans to replace Pepper Market with something "more typical", and no rumors either (and please, don't anybody start any based on this thread!).

Not everything has to be 'typical'. Pepper Market offers an excellent alternative to the standard food court/quick service location and fare found throughout much of Walt Disney World.

Well based on this thread - in March we'll be sure to visit my sister and her boyfriend (they're staying at CSR, we're at the Poly) at lunch time, just to eat here!! Great deal on the DDP! So if you eat inside, and you're on the DP, then the 10% charge is OOP?

ITA! :goodvibes

The Pepper Market food quality is way better than any QS we ate at the 4 parks and both waterparks on our trip!!

Okay, where are all those negative reviews I keep running into? LOL Thanks for all your input. This actually makes me feel a lot better. It isn't that I don't like change, it's just that it seems like more work when you are using counter service to quickly grab, eat and go. I've actually never been but will be staying at CSR next month. With all the reviews I keep reading, I figured it must be something they think about. Here's hoping I'm on the "I love it" side. :goodvibes

Please excuse me if this is too off topic...

Disney doesn't run the Pepper Market? Why not? Does some other company manage the entire property, too?

FWI, I can't imagine Disney changing the whole PM concept, as it seems to fit very nicely with their "Moderate Plus" positioning of the resort.

I was wondering the same thing. Why are there so many negative reviews? I'm going on my 2nd trip 1/23. My first was in 2007 for a convention, I booked through WDW just to use the DDP. I thoroughly enjoyed it, everything was paid for upfront. Had more choices @ PM than @ some of the parks.

The San Angel (Epcot) folks from Mexico run the Pepper Market, as well as the Maya Grill. Maybe someone else can give us some insight as to why.
