Do you think Dan's account

Maybe I'm wrong but I thought the reason the Community Board was established was to have a place for people to talk about things that are NOT Disney related - the topic/trip planning boards are for Disney topics. :confused3

You make too much sense! :teeth:

And I do agree that true hijackings of threads should not be allowed and this is coming from someone who has been involved in them (not usually, but it's happened). I'm not talking about threads that veer off-course and end up on a different topic or threads where the OP is involved in bringing it off-topic, but threads where the real intent is to steer it off-course in what I would consider a rude manner (which of course is subjective).

IMO the time for a clique thread to be closed is when its members tells someone else they cant post on it. But hey, obviously the mods on this forum dont agree with me so its on with the show.

I agree - thought that was a little over the top myself.

But I'm all for a second forum for the games, clique threads, etc. to go to. I get tired and having to scan through all of that stuff. Don't really know why that's so hard to do.

What clique thread is telling people they can't post on it? I agree that posters should be free to post on any thread--offending posts should be removed, but anyone can post.

Man! Who's doing that?

Not yours! Think fiasco from yesterday :teeth:

I think they are talking about the 'test' thread. Wasn't one poster basically told to get lost or am I thinking of another one?

Kathy, thanks for your response and believe me, I know the deal maybe all too well....

I'm well aware that there is no way to know what's happening on a thread unless the moderators are notified but once they're notified of it, then what???

Personal messages? There are some on the actual titles and they have pages and pages of personal messages...what tf is UP with that?

Excuse my frustration but I see this in lots of people here.

I try to focus on what I love about this board but when it makes so many people FEEL alienated, frustrated or disgusted it is no longer a community, it's a house divided. I could care less about changes, no one loves change more than I do but positive change, not junior high triviality.

You guys also need to realize that moderation is usually not done out in the open for regular posters to see. Just because you don't *see* something, doesn't mean something hasn't happened.

I don't know anything about that one and that's not cool. My philosophy is the more, the merrier! I'm all about one big party, especially when I don't have to buy the food or get the beds ready! :teeth: Actually, even then I have a tendency to say, "one more". :rotfl: I'm that way with pets and kids, too. :lmao:

Thanks for the reply Kathy.

Should we all just report the hijacking when it starts then or when we first see it? Would that help? That way if it just started it could be nipped in the bud, and if it disrupted a thread, it could be removed to let the thread read more smoothly. That way the mods and WM may seem more consistent in their editing and that way the mods and WM won't have to read or go through every thread to see if it's been hijacked.

There's no kidding around. Anyone who is able to participate in this forum knows and understands what a hijacked thread is and what it looks like. Like it been mentioned before, maybe if you're involved in it, you can't see it or don't get it, but I have to wonder if that can be true. :confused3

If you're talking about the T&B thread, we're going to change the title to reflect that it's not a personal thread, instead a friendly chat thread of friends that anyone is welcome to stop and join. It started because I'm an inbox packrat (you should see my e-mail inbox :faint: :teeth: ) , but continues because we are a bunch of friends who like to hang out. We talk about fluff, happy news, and also serious stuff and we literally laugh and cry together. Newbies are welcome at any time and there's no catching up that has to be done. If it's not your cup of tea, that's fine--we're not insulted.

The title of the thread isn't always indicative of the contents of the thread. If you're talking about the "clean out your PMs" thread, it's a social club-type thread just like the others we're talking about. Not really personal messages.

As far as notifying the moderators, you know that we read the alerts and look into the problems. And that actions we take are not always going to be apparent to the observers or to the person who reported the thread. Frequently, we'll have personal conversations with posters about something they've posted. We just aren't going to have those conversations in public.

And often, posters might report something that they don't like but that is not necessarily a real problem. This happens a LOT on the political threads. Someone will make a reference to "stupid liberals" or "stupid conservatives" or "stupid animal lovers", fill in the blank. These are not personal attacks, they're generalities. Although a reader might decide to take offense, that's just not the kind of thing we can or should take action on.

Absolutely! If it's a problem, let us know right away while it's easy to clean up and before the frustration mounts too much. :thumbsup2

Thanks, eclectics, I missed that fiasco yesterday. That's just completely out of line.

Thanks, too, Silly!

Thanks for the response T&B and WK.

I don't look at the thread because my name is NOT T&B and I don't need to clean out my PMs... :happytv: It sounds like a PM to me though I guess it isn't now that I've been told.

Happy Independence Day, everyone.... carry on. I'm OUT!
;)

On the test thread post number 34103 there is a direct quote of the guy being warned away and that the mods would take care of him if he didnt stay away.
Sure enough his threads of protest are gone and the test thread is still going strong. So it looks like the moderation wasnt perhaps fair and balanced, but I hope that cliques arent allowed to encourage that type of block ignoring of their threads.

That 'test' thread is sickening and I'll bet dollars to donuts it part of what was bothering Dan last night. :sad2:

I cannot believe the posts of the person that was being told to 'get out' of that 'test' thread were deleted. Sickening. :sad2:
