Thinking of having a meal at the Blue Bayou @ Disneyland. Hopefully get a seat on the patio overlooking the POTC ride. Do you think the experience/food is worth the price?

100% yes. :thumbsup2

I highly recommend going for lunch. It's cheaper and you can get the Monte Cristo sandwich. It's like fried yumminess! Also if you still have room, definitely get the Flying Dutchman Cookie Boat. It's huge and sooooo good. Here's a pic:

Another absolutely YES vote!

Lunch at Blue Bayou is a must do on our trip because it is my families favorite place to eat.

Atmosphere is probably at least 50% of the reason to go. Dessert another 50%! Our favorite is the creme brulee! Of course, I suppose I should add in the food somewhere too because it has always been good for us but these are the top reasons we love BB.

Well...I can be a bit of a food snob so I have to go w/ no for the food but yes for the atmosphere. We went w/ DD & were disappointed in the food considering what we paid - but this next time we'll go at lunch instead, I'm going JUST to experience the seating. To me sitting in the POTC is worth it.

Go just for dessert! It's a win, win situation. You get the atmosphere AND a great dessert for quite a bit less than a whole meal! Oh, I love the cookie boat by the way!

I took dd there this summer. We LOVED it. And yes, the Monte Cristo was GREAT. I think we booked the very last lunch seating... it was right before the menu/price change... WE LOVED IT. Of course in 8 days we rode Pirates at least 15 times...

IT was so fun!

yes at least once for the experience.... I had been going for over 40 years before the first time I ate there... I would definately go again... not an every trip thing, but was wonderful to me.

You just made my day! I've got to wait until January, but I'm making my ressies then! I love Monte Cristo sandwiches and that dessert looked so good!
Thanks for sharing!

We are vegetarian, so there is only one thing on the menu for us (a portabello mushroom dish), and we didn't really like it. And we had to order the salad without sausage, but there was one lump of it on my plate which was a bit bleah for me and seems a bit "under" the service they should be providing. And DS hated their mac and cheese (and that boy is a mac/cheese lover).

BUT the atmosphere is quite excellent, and I would go again if only for drinks and a dessert or two.

We made priority seatings early, we were actually the first to make reservations for that day for the 11:30 lunch seating, checked in as early as we could, and got waterside seating no problem.

We love the place!! I will add here that we aren't huge eaters, so the cost isn't much for us. In fact, we ate there twice on our recent trip because we had such a good time, the food was great, and it cost less than getting a hamburger. See, my 3 girls and I share a Monte Cristo and are full! It's a huge sandwich, cut into 4 triangles, so we each get a triangle and dipping sauce (raspberry jam). They also bring as many sourdough rolls as you want, along with soup or salad, veggies, and potatoes au gratin. With some mint juleps, we were stuffed! DH had the crab cakes ($11), so our total bill with tip was under $50. There are also unlimited refills on the juleps :thumbsup2

BTW, the first time we ate we had reservations and got a perfect waterside table. The second time, they were booked but we showed up at 11:15 and once they'd seated those with first reservations at 11:30, we got right in. We didn't have a waterside table, but it was close and we thought others should have the pleasure since we'd already done it a few days prior.

I suppose I should also mention that my girls are 7, 4, and 4.

I'll be dining (lunching actually! ;) ) with my DH. I don't think my two teenage sons will enjoy the atmosphere as much as we will! Plus, my youngest is the pickiest soon to be 14 year old anyone has ever met! They are old enough to eat lunch on their own in the park and leave the fine dining to us! :rolleyes1 DH is a decent eater. I think he'll share the Monte Cristo with me, but he wants to leave room for that Pirate Boat dessert and now I think I need the creme brulee treasure chest! Too yummy! :thumbsup2

I always thought it was a waste of money....but I finally went yesterday and it is now going to be part of every trip.....we loved the food and the atmosphere was beyond compare..

I love BB! I love the vegetarian Portabello Mushroom dish. I think I am going to try and get everyone to go on Friday. And the cookie boat was AWESOME!! I think everyone needs to go at least once.

How did you get the veges and potatoes? Did you order them ala carte?? :confused3

Thanks! :goodvibes

No, they come with the sandwich. You get your choice of soup or salad and a choice of 2 sides (plus rolls and butter). For sides I got the veggies and potatoes, but there are other choices. I think rice pilaf is one but I can't really remember! The cost is high for one person (~$25), but it's a LOT of food--you can easily split the MC between 2 adults and get plenty to eat. I prefer not to think about how many calories it is  I am a dessert person (the most important course of a meal) and had fully intended to get dessert there, but I just couldn't handle any more food.

I dont like being a downer but I want to give my honest opintion.... Definately a YES for the atmosphere, but NO for the food, and the service.

Great atmosphere especially if you can get a table by the water where you can watch the pirate ride go by, but the food I found was dry and cold, and there was a LONG black hair in our food (We are all blond). They wouldnt replace the meal, nor take off any money at the end or even appologize. We had to basically hunt people down for refills on our drinks and for the bill. So for the amount of money we spent for the meal, we could have spent it on something a bit far nicer then that. I dont regret going for the atmosphere though like I said, that was really lovely.

For curiosity sake I would say go as there are people who really like this place. But from my general experience I wouldnt go again. Perhaps I just had a really nasty, had to happen to someone experience.

Mystic_Path, I'm sorry you had such a lousy service experience, and that your food was cold. :(

I haven't gone yet, but I hope to be able to make a lunch trip sometime!
