i do day care and one parent has BAD breath it is piping :rolleyes1

other parents have complained :rolleyes1 .... honest truth

NO! Honestly, if someone has breath that is bad enough to smell it from afar - it is a health issue. If it is a hygiene issue a family member should mention it to them.

I would guess this person has sinus issues. Seriously, if bad breath travels across a room the last thing you want to do is add a breath mint, etc. to the mix. The sugar can add to the problem.

I wouldn't. It would most likely be humiliating to them.

My dbf once turned his head away when I went to kiss him, because he said I had coffee breath. That wasn't even that bad (considering I had just had a cup of coffee), but he still had BIG making up to do. :furious:

If they were good friends I'd say something like, " Wow, what did you have for lunch today?- I can smell that all the way over here on your breath"- making a joke about it. "I smell that alot how often do you eat that food?"

If I were employed by them then I wouldn't say anything. You might try to see if the child has the same "smell" to their breath and then you could try the same ploy as above to find out whats up. Bad teeth, stomach problems as well as lung problems can all affect a person's breath.

I used to run an at home day care center and I hated stinky diapers- the trick that I used was to rub lotion under my nose on top of my lip :thumbsup2 or put it on the top of your hand and smell that while you are taking care of business. I'm not sure of smelling your hand every day when the parents come for pick up of their child- they might think you had a problem or something! :rotfl:

I guess it depends on how close you are to this person. If they are like family...you need to tell them. Think about if the situation was reversed...wouldn't you want to know?????
Ask them if they want a piece of gum or something and then you can say..."Please, no offense but your breathe is kind of bad"

Ugh...that is hard to do!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd probably ask him/her if she's eaten anything with garlic or onions in it. You'll get the point across without having to actually say it.

The person with the offensive breath probably already knows and either doesn't care or can't help it. It could be a chronic sinus infection or tonsil infection.

unfortunately, some people don't care... we have a guy here at work... it's pouring rain... someone said that they probably smell like wet dogs and someone had to say " well, that's an improvement " I personally probably wouldn't say anything... unless I knew them well, I'd make a joke... depending. My dh said his ex got to having really bad breath and he brought it up to her, she threw a fit... but actually she had a dental problem and had to have surgery on her gums...

That's rough.

Me personally, I wouldn't say anything.

my sis' Ex always had kickin' breath. He didn't brush. His teeth actually looked fuzzy :crazy2: . I used to drive him to and from work and even lived with him a short time. I just learned to breathe through my mouth. I just couldn't say anything.

In your situation, no I probably wouldn't.

lindakmonty, I knew someone who had gum disease and man, that was a foul smell. It's something you don't forget, so now I recognize it when I come across someone with it.

As far as my friends go, if they have the occasional bad breath, I'll offer gum or a mint, and then if they refuse, I'll say, "You want the mint!" and they're grateful and accept it. :rotfl2: I'd expect the same in return. I wouldn't do that with someone who might be offended.

That is what he says!!! He said at night the whole room would smell so bad.... ewwww! Now I've got to go brush my teeth :teeth: .... yuck!

when I ask dh if he wants gum he says "why, are you trying to tell me something?"... uhhh... yep pretty much!

No, I wouldn't tell anyone. Well, I'd tell them if they asked.

Some medications cause bad breath. Usually, though, chronic halitosis is the result of tooth problems that people cannot afford to fix. I sure wouldn't want to draw attention to that.

Omg....fuzzy teeth! :lmao:

I have no idea why that made me laugh so much. I'm so mean.

I have problems with my breath. I asked my dentist if she had any ideas or medicine. She said she didn't. FWIW, I have no dental problems or anything. I haven't had a cavity in 15 years, and no periodontal problems. Believe me, I would love to know how to fix this. For now, I just constantly chew mints.

I wouldn't mind at all if someone said something to me, and they knew of a solution.

I really have nothing to add to the post. I just have to say I have laughed very hard reading what people have posted. This is one of the funniest posts I have read!

one time i my daughter ripped a peace of duck tape off the role and she said" mom that smells like ___________ breath" and it did :lmao:
