Do you take your EVC scooter into shops?

When you want to go into a shop, say, the Emporium, do you park your scooter outside or go in on it??
This is my first trip using a scooter. I had my knee replaced 5 months ago and don't want any issues while on vacation. So my mind is constantly racing and thinking about all the possible sennerios ahead of time. :thumbsup2

I do, if it isn't crazy busy. You just have to pay close attention to your driving. Go slow, and be extra watchful for people popping up in front of you.

We tend to park our scooter(s) outside and go through the shops. It’s less stressful and don’t have to worry about hitting anything/anyone 😁 But if it’s not busy and we’re planning on going to the end of the emporium ships, the. We might go in with them.

Unfortunately my disability isn’t temporary so my ECV goes wherever I wish to go. I do gauge the logistics of a store entrance (Double doors? Automatic door opener? Is it crowded?) before deciding if I’ll enter though.

I do because I don't have much choice. I can't walk, and I have virtually no balance to stand. However, I will say that it's kind of funny to scooter through a place like Crystal Arts, with all the expensive breakables, watching the CMs try to keep a pleasant, casual smile on their faces, not too successfully, while they're so afraid I'll run into something. Fortunately, that's never happened nor even come close-driving a scooter is second nature.

Both. Ive parked and walked in if its too crowded or in Im in too much pain to walk at the moment. But I have no problem taking it in any shop either. A lot of people do so you will be fine if you need to stay on your scooter.

From reading the park policy it might be best to take the scooter with you inside the shop to protect your belongings or ask staff if you can park it whilst you go in the shop. Only thing is safety about parking it outside shop especially main street in Magic Kingdom where it's busy reason for my answer is because Disney has a policy that there's a rule against Obstructing sidewalks, entrances, driveways, patios, vestibules, stairways, corridors, halls or landings as mentioned on website.

When you arrive in the park you can always ask at guest experiences stand inside the park and ask about designated parking areas for your scooter.

If it's not too crowded I take it in. It's not ideal though, not as easy to browse. If it's too crowded, I just find a local spot to park it in.

If you can walk, I would consider leaving it outside and walking. What I have found is people don’t pay attention and I was often stuck at aisles because people would not “yield” to let me through. It was often frustrating. It might be good to give you the opportunity to stand and stretch, as well.

That's a very good point. I make it a point to do my shopping during mid-day, when the stores are traditionally uncrowded. No doubt, that's why riding a scooter in stores is fine. I can't imagine the experience in the later hours

If it is possible for you to make your way through stores on foot, it is definitely the best way to go. However, I know it just is not always an option. The smaller the ECV you are driving, the easier it is to maneuver. Those rented in the parks are extra awkward. Be prepared, very, VERY few people extend any common courtesy toward riders, many will even deliberately cut you off.

You will need to proceed very slowly. Come to a cautious stop when you wish to look at merchandise items. It is tough to watch the press of people, big and small, who are darting around the store with no concern for anyone else while you are enjoying the displays.

It can be easier to tackle the small stores throughout the park on foot. If you want to walk the stretch of the Main Street Emporium, make sure you have someone who can move your ECV to be at your exit point, unless you have the stamina to make a two-way trip. Being lucky enough to have someone to stand in the checkout line for you is a real help, too.

Best tip - visit stores early in the day, when they tend to be less busy. Unless you are looking for a very exclusive item, it can be much easier to just be at the World of Disney Store in Disney Springs as it opens. Their selection is huge, although you won’t find exclusive party merchandise there.
