Do you swim after hours?

Except for HH where they lock the pool area and turn out the lights, I have always gone swimming even after the DVC posted pool hours. Have you? Have you ever been kicked out?

we do not swim after posted hours and I have seen people asked to leave by security at the Beach Club villas at midnight.

We always swam late at OKW.
Usually at Turtle Pond.
Last October was the first time security came around at 10pm
to kick everyone out.

People hoo-ha-ing by the pool at midnight make a lot more noise than they realize, and keep dozens of other families awake.

Using the pool after hours isn't a problem if you are talking quietly. Unfortunately there are always people who missed the lesson on how to keep your voice down.

I usually swim late one or two nights during our DVC stays. Many times I've been the only one in the pool/hot tub, especially during the colder months. I doubt my splish-splashing has awoken any of my fellow DVCers from their slumber. Since there is never lifeguard the quiet pool, I don't see safety as an issue. Maybe having posted hours is just a way for security to clear out noisey guests by using an unrelated excuse?

We have done this a few times and have not been asked to leave. We have also been very quiet and respectful while lounging in the pool. On the other hand, we have been "victimized" by loud, obnoxious drunks that were not so considerate.

We've only done that once, and we didn't stay much past the closing time. DH & I were in spa w/a few other DVC'rs and kept our voices low so we didn't disturb anyone else.

I've always gone swimming at all hours. I love it late at night (or very early morning) when there's only a couple people around. Except for Stormalong Bay, I didn't even know the pools had closing hours.

The pools close at 10 at OKW. There are reasons behind all the rules we have at DVC. It is unfortunate that some members do not think they apply to them. I never stayed by a pool in all my 17 visits to OKW, I am glad I did not. I of course never went in the pool after hours, that is the rule we all should follow.

If the hotel doesn't think it's important enough to enforce it. . . and you're not bothering anybody (which presumably would prompt them to enforce it). . .

Then what difference does it make?

I have swum in many of the Disney pools in the "off-hours" (4am-5am) but have always asked at the main desk before doing so. Being quiet is only common courtesy and if I thought for a second that this would bother anyone than I wouldn't have asked in the first place.

I enjoy swimming laps which is hard to do with a pool full of people and I am an early riser. Once I have completed my exercise, I depart as quietly as I entered. Also, I do not feel as though I am breaking any rules since I have asked permission before hand. Should I not do this? I never thought it would affect anyone either way...

some of the other resort have quiet pools that are open 24 hours - POR - comes to mind - they are farther enough away that the noisey won't get to the rooms.

all the DVC resort swimming pool - except the main pool at OKW - are right next to the resort - or very, very close.

even if you don't think you are bothering anyone - any noise can carry at night - but as long as people aren't screaming at you or they don't call the security guards - then you are probably fine.

I didn't think the front desk would be giving permission to do things when the signs says what the hours are????

sometimes the Spa hours are a hour longer than the pool hours - look at the sign always for the hours.

most people (well kids) seem to be breaking the earlier hours - the pools are surpose to be opening until 10:00am - and I have send kids (sometimes with the adults in the chairs close by - othertime I couldn't find an adult) swimming at 7:00, 8 and 9 am - as well as all the times in between.

I think most all the deluxe resort quiet pools have posted hours for closing. It will be a wooden sign near the end of the pool, also listing No Running, No Diving, No glassware, etc.

Again as everyone stated its a courtesy to those guests with rooms nearby to be quiet. Most probably are, some are not as was the case at BCV the night security ran them off.

In fact most late night swimmers are probably so quiet most do not even know they are there.

The night the ones at the Villas were asked to leave, they had the pool side chairs in the pool and yes they were drunk.

I generallly let my kids swim until a couple hours after the posted closing time. We've never been kicked out, but they know that the instant they make a sound above a whisper I'll drag them back to the room. They stay as quiet as they can!

At our last stay at BWV I asked a CM what time the pool closed and they told me it didn't, it was open 24 hours. The slide did close around 6:00 pm (I think) and then the lifeguards went home, but you could still swim there anytime you wanted.

Twice I've been given the same studio in building 55 at OKW, first floor which, despite lots of shrubbery, essentially backs on to the hot tub.

Many groups presumably think they are not bothering anybody when they use that hot tub after hours, but they may be wrong! Certainly I've been bothered by people many times but in the spirit of 'they are on vacation' and 'live and let live' I have done nothing about it apart from struggle to sleep.

One person, whether swimming or in the hot tub, would be unlikely to be a problem, but whenever more and 'quiet chatting' is involved - you can't be sure it's not bothering anyone.

When I stayed at BWV the pool signs said it closed at 10pm.

We have never been in late, but have heard others who were. We were right over the underpass at BWV and looked right at the pool and the kids were loud and screaming etc. I think the next time, I would call and complain and ask BWV to take care of it.
