Do you swallow your pills whole?

Here's a pill tip that my friend taught me that really helped me: solid pills sink, capsules float. Most people tilt their head back when they take pills, which is okay if it's a solid pill, but if you're taking a capsule, this just means you're causing it to float to the front of your mouth. Tilt your head forward when taking capsules, and the capsule will float right to the back of your throat and go down much easier!

Just a tip! I HATE taking pills.

I must confess - I am a wimp! I do swallow pills whole BUT first I have to put water in my mouth, tilt my head back, pop the pill in, swallow quickly and then take another drink!

DH on the other hand throws them in with no water and swallows away - yucky.

My oldest DD who is 13 is worse than I am and cannot get them down - we have to mash them! The other 3 are like their Dad.

Not an expert on how large the actual passage is but I got tired of it taking so long to take my daily pills I can now down all 5 at once.

No lie, I can take about 15 pills ( vitamins + my one medication ) with 2 sips of water. I'va always wondered why people have such a hard time with pills. You swallow bigger pieces of food than the size of a pill.

I not only swallow pills whole I can usually do it without water! Comes in handy sometimes.

But I'll brag on DD. She has to take a pill every morning (she's 3) and it isn't a nice flavored one. She just chews it up and washes it down and never complains. She impresses the heck out of me!

Dang... I must have missed the funny title.... so I'll just imagine...... hmmn, that makes it funny and sexy!

Yes, I swallow my pills whole and I don't need a drink either. My whole family thinks I am strange b/c I can take a pill without water. Truth is, I could not take pills when I was younger and my cruel father wouldn't let me break them in half. He would literally make me try to take them whole for an hour. The pill would have disintegrated before I could swallow it. I assume this is why I can take pills so easily now.

WHOLE oh no. My DD16 just read this thread too. and she choked. We both have always had that problem. After two major hip surgeries< I shouldn't but I have to take pills with pop. The fuzz makes it easier.

Wow I am impressed. Esp about the vitamins because they are usually pretty big and not so pleasant smelling.

I have never been able to swallow pills whole, this causes me a problem when we are on holiday in the US as you don't have any soluable pain killers etc!!

I have a pill crusher and squash them and then put them in jam!!

I am also a WIMP when it comes to swallowing pills whole. Last month, I was in the ER room and the nurse ( who was a male), brought me a very small pill to take. I asked him to please cut it up for me and bring me LOTS of water. He brought the pill back cut up into 4 of the tiniest pieces of pill possible and I STILL had trouble swallowing them. He just laughed at me and asked me if I ever eat food!
When I was in my hospital room, I'd always ask the nurse to cut my pills and bring me applesauce and LOTS of water. I think they thought I was crazy, being that I'm not 5 years old anymore.....I'm 42!!

i have them crushed up put them in food
but honestly i usually ask for liquid
when i had my kids all my meds were in liquid form

Me too--I think I hit the wall around 15 or so, but it really wasn't much different than one. Luckily I'm down to a much more manageable 8 per day, and they all go down the hatch at once!
