Do you sneak food into the theater?

I hadn't been to a movie in a really long time. We were always busy and I knew it was expensive, plus we would just watch things when they become available on demand. But it's summer and some good movies came out...

I took the kids to Inside Out at our updated amc theater. I loved the updates mainly because I could see. Before if a tall person was in front of me...forget it. Plus, no one can kick my seat! Woohoo.

But the prices ! I like that I can reserve my seat so at least I know we can all sit together but $10+ for an adult ticket is pricey. Then I went to the snack stand. Holy moly. That was more expensive than I ever remembered it being!!

I used to bring food in my bag when I was younger all the time. It wasn't frowned upon. But I see amc has their "no outside food " rule in place. But Target makes those nice movie theater sized boxes of candy....lol

Our amc allows people to bring outside drinks, so we do that
I do bring in the boxed movie candy, but my DH always buys popcorn, so I never feel bad about it.

Never shy about walking in with my chicken sandwich and nuggets for kids.
But we always buy popcorn and drinks there.

We will bring in candy, but most places now have free refills on large drink and large popcorn. So we bring paper sacks to share the popcorn and usually get two large sodas to share.

I rarely go but when I do-nope. I will say that I appreciate that the amc at our local mall now offers 'checking' of food when you go to see a movie. so if dh and I eat at one of the restaurants or the food court and have left overs (MUCH less expensive than eating at the movie) we can 'check' our leftover bag to be labeled, put in the theatre's walk in fridge and retrieved when we leave.

We always have either the popcorn tins from Target dollar bins to fill the kids up or brown paper bags.
Our movie theater is great and has a refill popcorn bucket you purchase at the beginning of the year and the refills each time you go are cheap IMO
We go to movies at least once a month.

I don't bring in food that I can buy at the theater, but I have been known to "sneak" in something for me to munch on or candy that DD with braces can eat. Our theater is pretty limited with snack options - they don't have anything with a reasonable carb count on the menu except a pickle and DD can't have gummy candy, hard candy, or popcorn. We always buy an overpriced drink or two.

I love going to the theater near my parent's house where they have a small deli menu with more options.

Nah, I never have hid food and brought it into the theater. Mostly because when I go to a movie I only get popcorn and a drink of some sort. I know the stuff is expensive and movies are only like 2 hours long so I can make it without a bunch of candy for that long.

I bring in packets of salt, so I can continue to salt my popcorn until I get to the bottom. I feel like such a rebel sneaking that in.

No. Then again, my theater charges only $5 for a ticket, so I don't feel bad about getting a large popcorn and large drink for us to share.

I don't sneak food into the movies. Our local theater is not part of a chain, it is a locally owned business with local owners. I know that the theater makes almost no money on new release movie ticket revenues (the longer the movie stays in the theater the more money they make, but for the first few weeks, it's very small) and uses the concession stand to get the cash flow to stay open. I WANT them to stay open, they have reasonable ticket prices (more or less) and they employ lots of local people, so yes, I buy the overpriced popcorn and soda because I want them to stay open, provide jobs, etc.

Now, that said, we don't buy a soda, a popcorn and a candy for everyone in our family. We share. We buy a large popcorn and a large soda and we share it among us, so we have a treat, but we aren't gorging ourselves and we aren't breaking the bank, we consider it part of the price of going out. And we usually only go to the movies on Tuesday, when all shows are $5.

Never sneak food in. We always get a large popcorn along with a couple bottles of water and maybe some snow caps. Once got stuck in a crowded theatre next to someone who decided to bring in an Italian sandwich. Stunk so bad.

No. We buy at the theater, but I usually don't buy the $5 candy unless we are at the movies for a birthday. I buy a large refillable popcorn that we share and everyone can get a small soda or icee. We go to the movies 2 or 3 times a month.

I usually just have a few peppermints in my pocket, which is mostly just for if my mouth gets dry. Anything else I want I'll just get at the concession stand, but usually I am fine with nothing.

Yes, we bring $1 candy from Target. Big difference from the same $6 box the theater is selling.
