One a day... I know, hard to believe . DH smokes and I enjoy having one in the evening with him after the kids are in bed. I can take it or leave it though.
No. My dad died 50 years ago when I was 9 from lung cancer. He smoked. My mom smoked, but quit 30 years ago, and died of lung cancer 4 years ago.
Given what we have known about smoking for years and years , I have a tough time understanding how anyone under the age of about 80 would even consider starting smoking.
People can make their own choices - even bad ones. The main issue though is that the majority of smokers start before they can legally smoke, and it's been well known that the tobacco industry targets young smokers - especially with big displays at convenience stores where lots of kids go. I know they pay lip service to the idea that they don't want children to start smoking, but very few smokers started when they were of legal age to smoke.

Theoretically the health effects aren't as bad if one barely smokes, but very few people do that. The research into why cigar-only smokers seem to have less issues with smoking-related illnesses seem to be that few people smoke more than a few and generally don't inhale. It's still not healthy, but I guess moderation can be meaningful.
Smoker for 20 years It's no longer enjoyable and I'm hoping to be done with it soon. Toking comes with the music scene so its just always around, but I'm pretty much the only one who passes in the circle these days, no longer agrees with me.
"Proud" isn't the right choice of words, no. But it has certainly changed my life for the better. I'm less stressed, I'm able to enjoy things that I otherwise just tolerated, and it's been a life-saver when it comes to depression/anxiety.
Nope hate smokers.
I know this will offend many but to me in this day and age it is a sign of poor judgment/intelligence.
I understand why people in my grandparents generation smoked, even my parents generation to a certain extent but anyone my age (early 30s) who does is an idiot.
As far as plant material, don't see this as different than having a couple of drinks although illegal here, don't think people should smoke and drive though

Well I'll give you that for some people it helps them relax and be less stressed. For others though it gives them anxiety or if they already had it over time it makes their symptoms worse.
My husband's coworker who I'm close to loves to smoke "plant stuff" like she doesn't go a darn day without it. She said she needed it for her anxiety for her overall welbeing. Well 6 months ago she stopped and whoa you can tell. She now has a fresh look about her she no longer looks zonked out. She was very beautiful before but there is just a glow about her now. She also has regained better usage of her mind. Beforehand she had trouble remembering things like she would think she would tell you to meet her at X time but turns out she never did. Now she hasn't missed a beat. She also seems a bit faster on the uptake if that makes sense.
I don't smoke anything. My parents smoked cigarettes when I was kid, though, so I don't look down on people who took it up before the dangers were known.
