definitely sleep in. I have to get up at 4:30am when I am at home, for work and stuff, so when I am at DVC I love sleeping in til 7:00am!! :cloud9:

I voted on occasion. We sleep a bit later if we are up late the night before.

With an 18-month old and a 4 1/2 year old, we never sleep in, vacation or not; however we do get to nap in the afternoon.

I get up early both at home and WDW. At home I get up at 4:00 am so consider it a luxury when I roll out at 6:00 or 6:30 while on vacation. I like to walk around the Boardwalk/Beach Club area in the early morning with a cup of java.

i have a 2yr old and a 4 month old. could someone explain to me what sleep is?

let's just say we have been the first people at the turnstyles more than once .

There are too many variables to do a decent poll. There is the assumption that everyone is used to the Eastern Time zone. When we wake up at 7am in Orlando, that is 5am body time for us – two hours before I normally get up. That same 7am wake up will be 4am body time for my sister and her daughter when we bring them. Seven will be sleeping in for her, but 4am will be earlier than usual.

Then there are the Brits. They could wake at 5am, but have really slept in for them.

I voted always, but we sleep until everyone wakes up. This is one of the best perks of being a DVC Member is that you can go often enough to enjoy vacationing at WDW instead of attacking it. My ultimate trip will be the one where I go and never enter a park.

Have not made it so far though. :cool1:

We have still been doing the EMH up until now. We would get up early, hit the park that opened early and be back to swim and nap around noon or 1:00. Sometimes I think I'd love to sleep later on vacation, but DH and I are both teachers and he says we can sleep at home - let's get up and go and enjoy the parks when they are a little less crowded and the temp. is a little cooler. (We usually go in June). This year we also went in December - on that trip - we didn't worry about getting to the parks early - it was all about relaxing and going when we felt like it!

I voted on occasion but i think its more often than that.. Kids are teenagers so they could sleep all day, being that we've been so many times and have AP'S it helps..sleep in , eat a brunch and go ..

On mornings we want to be at the parks we get up at about 7am and try to be out at about 8 or 8.15 am. My DH takes forever getting ready in the morning so I often get up first so I dont get mad waiting for him so I can get ready! The bathroom set up at SSR was good for us, 2 sinks and a separate toilet meant we could get ready at the same time if necessary. When the toilet is in the main bathroom everyone has to wait.

On non-park days we slept until our DD, 16 months last trip, woke us.

You are spot on Mary Ellen. One of the advantages/disadvantages of coming from the UK is the five hour time difference. That makes a body clock of 10am a Disney time of 5am. By the time we adjust its time to head home.
Although we never lay in, we also never miss our afternoon nap.

Well for the most part my wife gets up early and myself and my son sleep in late.We usually close disney quest every nite and then spend time talking about the day.It seems the only time we get up early is when we know were going to blizzard beach or typhoon lagoon and don't want to be locked out due to high capacity. I dont think we have ever made it to a park before 1:00 in our lives. we much rather close them then open them.

Before DVC, we were up and out at the bus stop EVERY morning by 8:30. We are at the parks until they close each night.
Sicne DVC, we don't set the alarm anymore. We leave the drapes cracked and let the sun wake us up.
No more need to rush through the day. We take a more relaxed pace.

I enjoy getting up early and walking around the resort. If its still dark I tend to walk around inside. Next I find a chair to watch the sunrise. Then its time to see the rest of the resort (outdoors) begin to wake.

Im usually in bed by 9pm so after a few late nights I find myself sleeping a little later in the mornings.

Our first three trips (1 even after DVC) we were up early, went all day and late to bed. Went home exhausted and didn't feel like we had been on vacation even though we had a great time. DH finally realized that we would be coming back and started taking it a little slower. Now, we may get up around 9-9:30am and get to the park around noon. When staying at VWL, the rooms are dark and the curtains keep the light out so our children (DD-12, DS-10) will sleep in. We were just at SSR and Friday when it rained so hard, we finally had to wake DS up at 11am:)

I also don't mind taking a nap in the middle of the afternoon either. We will tend to stay out a little later, but don't set an alarm unless it is our day to go home.

We always get up early, mostly for early character breakfasts. If I wanted to just relax on my vacation I'd be going to Aruba this December instead of BWV! Friends of ours tried very hard to get us to buy a Marriot timeshare at some new Aruba resort with them. All the things they said, sleeping late, hanging by the pool and the beach just didn't sound that much fun to us. We love the excitement of Disney and love enjoying it first thing in the morning! Plus, our kids don't sleep late anyway! :D

Always wake up early! What is the point in paying all this money if you are just sleeping the whole time? When you wake up early the lines are shortest and you can see the most things. I go to bed after the parks close so I can get enough sleep for the next day.

That is the great thing about DVC, you can use it how you like. Everyone is different and enjoy different traveling styles. I personally don't think we are sleeping the whole day away. We enjoy our family time and if we are all tired and cranky, it doesn't do us any good. We didn't have to wait in long lines because of getting to the park later. We got to ride and do everything that we wanted.

Getting up early on vacation is something we talk about yet never seem to be able to do. Sort of like a New Year's resolution, our plans to rise early seem to fall by the wayside. I get up earlier than the rest of the bums, but we have NEVER done an "early entry" or seen them drop the rope at any park. This is why my family is SO excited about the new late nights for resort guests -- we're late-night types and will be among the last to leave. The parks at night are magical.
