Do you shop at Kmart?

I go to kmarts at least 1x a week. I just spent $48 about 20 minutes ago and bought a denim skirt, black dressy pants, 4 cases of 24 each water, 2 bags of Easter M&Ms, 5 eyeliner pencils, 4 lipsticks and a huge make-up gift set. I love my K-Marts!

We rarely go to K-mart...but we did just go there on Saturday and bought an outside bar set (high bar and chairs).....it is really nice.

No way.

Kmart is nasty dirty and unorganized. When we were living in our old house it was the closest store so we picked up some valances there. I accidentally picked up one that was sage green instead of hunter green. I returned the next day with receipt in hand to try to switch the wrong color for the right color - SAME brand (the Kmart Martha Stewart line), SAME price - and the manager REFUSED to let me exchange it. Their return policy was horrid. I even called the corporate office and left a message with the district manager and never got a return phone call.

That was my LAST trip to Kmart and that was 5 years ago.

I drop into Kmart from time to time. They will sometimes have things I can't find at Wal Mart or Target.

I don't live near Kmart, but I work by one. (the one on 34th Street in NYC). I really like the store. It's very convient when I need socks, a bottle of soda to go with lunch, or a birthday present. They recently reorganized the store and it's very clean & bright, the clothes are very nice & reasonably priced, so I shop in there at least once a week. I also go to Walmart alot, but the nearby Target isn't very well stocked & if you're a plus size, don't even bother shopping in that branch--you're lucky to find a white tee shirt.

Our KMart is actually clean, well organized and well stocked, but it is also one of their most profitable stores in the country mainly because our shopping is limited to Kmart, Walmart or Shopko. If they didn't keep the store up, no one would shop there. They have a good store manager and it is well staffed.

Nope, the Kmart in Marquette closed about 4 years ago.
I'm not sure where the nearest one to me is now, but I'm sure that it's probably about 2 or more hours away if there are any left in the UP (I don't think that there are) or possibly in Wisconsin.

We basically live across the street from a kmart. It's clean, but disorganized. We go there fairly often because it is so close and never too busy. Easy to run in and out for medecine if a child is sick, for laundry detergent if we run out, etc. For my regular shopping we are Target shoppers and rarely do we go to walmart (even though it's closer than Target).

A lot of KMarts around here closed a few years back.

I have one not too far from me, now, but it's pretty much entirely Hispanic now. Even a lot of products and store signs are in Spanish! Every time I go there, they only have maybe one register open and there's a mile long line to check out.

Every now and then I'll go in one in another city and they're pretty much all understaffed and unorganized-- they also never seem to have advertised sale items in stock.

Our Kmart is now a Sears Essentials store. Its kind of cool and much nicer than it used to be. I would shop there occasionally when it was Kmart but it was clean, definitely not filty. I like it much better now as Essentials.

Beth76 I believe they just closed a bunch of stores a couple of years ago. I was surprised that ours wasn't closed because it's just gross and I hardly see people in there.[/QUOTE said:
Ditto. Our is disgusting. I feel the way about K-Mart the way many people feel about Walmart. And even - everyone I've met who's worked at Walmart felt like they were treated well and the people I've met who worked at K-Mart felt like they were badly burned.

Why I do not shop at K-Mart:

The ones near me...

  • Are not in the safest neighborhoods
  • Are not consistent with their merchandise (EX: the dogfood brand you buy this week may not even be on the shelves next week)
  • Do not staff appropriately at their cash registers - 18 registers/2 open is typical.

I will shop in this order: Target, K-Mart, Wal-Mart. Our K-Mart isn't flashy, but I love the Martha Stewart line, and they have great deals on socks, lol!

No I almost never shop at mine. While it's clean enough I almost always leave their pissed. Half the stuff I want is out of stock, I can never find an employeed to help me, half the stuff I just wouldn't buy because it is crap(clothes, housewares, toweles, bedding) they dont have a good selection of video games for my kids and there are never more then 3 cashiers working at a time no matter what time of year it is. Just not a pleasant shopping experience for me.
I hate walmart too but thats anohter rant all in its own. I used to not like target but I have warmed up to it in the last couple of years. I still think we need a more upscale store that sales everything but that also sales brand name clothes and shoes. I really would enjoy shopping at a place that had higher quality items.

I have a KMart about 3 minutes from my house, and truthfully, this one is clean, and seems to have consistent products, but never enough registers open or people working there. I do go there frequently, just when I need to pick up one item, as it is so close.

I do know a family member who works there, and am not impressed with the way they treat the employees. :guilty:

I prefer Meijer or Walmart, but they are a 20-minute drive.

Target is almost a 30 minute drive.

There are 2 Kmarts near us, but I never shop at them.

I love Target. I tolerate Wal-Mart. I don't go to Kmart.
