Do you serve dessert every night?

Only special occasions?

Only order it when you go out to eat?

When my kids were little, I served "dessert" every night but it was usually fruit cocktail; sliced peaches; pear halves; or something of that nature.. Although they were canned - and in the heavy syrup - I felt it was a little better for them than ice cream; cake; pie; or things of that nature..

Of course there weren't all of the other "dessert" options that are available today though.. Most desserts were baked at home - not purchased at the supermarket..:)

Do you consider hauling out the package of Oreos having dessert? If so, then yes we do!;) Do we make a fancy dessert, or even just have fruit or cake? Then no.

Only one day a year do I serve dessert..."Christmas Day", and that's because we have over a dozen relatives in the house. The other 364 days, it's "help yourself" to whatever you can find. :lmao:

Naaa....never. Yes, when growing up many years ago my Mom served dessert every night.....it was either Tapioca pudding (:sad2: ) or a dish of peaches or pears (:sad2: )...but like I said, that was years ago.

And like dd123 said, I do on holidays and birthdays....but not an every day thing at all.

I asked the question because for some odd reason I was sitting here thinking about my former sister-in-law (my brother's ex-wife)..

She had to serve dessert every single night - and it had to be something very rich or sweet - like some sort of fancy cake; pie with whipped cream; ice cream with toppings; etc.. I think it was more that "she" wanted it - rather than her kids or my brother.. And it also had to be served immediately after dinner - no "lag" time in between..

Pretty much. I like to bake and the kids are good eaters, so I don't mind giving them a little treat at the end of dinner. Although, little is the operative word. Also, I like to have warm cookies for my oldest when he gets out of kindergarten once or twice a week. It's a huge deal to him.

I serve dessert when I am in the mood, perhaps once every few weeks or so. There are always cookies in the cookie jar, however.
When entertaining (once a month or so) I always serve dessert. Leftovers go fast. ;)

Yes, every night. Sometimes it might just be fruit or ice cream, but most times it is something homemade.

Well I always have dessert every night whether it is served at dinner or not.

I don't prepare dessert or serve a special one, but my kids always have dessert after dinner if they eat at least 3 bites of each item on their plate (and if they haven't lost it due to behavior during the day). Around here it's usually fruit chews, cookies, Go-gurt or a piece of fruit.

We rarely have desert after dinner. On holidays and when we have company, yes. Other than that........never.

I very rarely serve dessert after dinner...maybe 5 times a year or in addition to holidays. We do often have some cookies or ice cream or something as a snack later in the evening. We almost always order dessert when we go out to dinner.

Sometimes, depends on what is in the house.
