Do you send out Christmas Cards?

I don't send locally or to people we see regularly, but I do send to far away family and friends - usually about 35 cards.

Just reading more of this thread and am hoping that those who only send to the people who send to you...think twice about that, especially for certain people. I have lots and lots of aunts and uncles and friends of my parents who absolutely love to see the pictures of the kids (and they've known me since I was little) and get the Christmas greetings...but they don't send out because of financial reasons or whatever. I never *expect* a card...I send out because I want to wish them a Merry Christmas and share pictures of my kids they never see - I don't send because I want in return. If you want to share Christmas wishes, do it because you want to, not because you want something back. Just a thought...

I send cards to those who usually send to us but not for that reason They are just a part fo my list of family and friends I always like to include. I have others that do not send cards anymore for whatever reason but I still like to include them as well for the same reasons you do yours. I enjoy sending cards and newletters out each year. It is a part of my Christmas tradition. As much as putting up the tree and decorating are. I also send letters, cards and pictures to family and friends thoughout the year as well as emails. I do my part at staying in touch and it seems to be appreciated in return. I like receiving cards, newsletters, photo, etc back too. It's always nice to know soemone is thinking of you and cares enough to send an email, note, letter, photo or card.

I am happy to see many of you also enjoy the same tradition in one form or another. :)

I usually send about 100 cards out- the photocard of my son. I don't get a card in return from everyone, but everyone I send to has been very good to me in the past, and I know they enjoy getting an updated pic if i haven't seen them this year. I hang the picture cards on my kitchen cabinets and probably get about 30 pics, and when my family comes over, they love to look at them too and see the kids that we don't see very often.
I love going out and taking the pics for the card, and choosing which one we are going to send. I'll be sad when my son is too old to want his pic sent out.

We still send cards, too. I love to get Christmas Cards from friends and family - and yes, I'd much rather get one with a picture or two!

As for the newsletters, most of them are cheesy, but we're getting this card (http://my3cuties.com/item_1387/Holiday-Dots--Photo-Holiday-Card.htm) this year so the "newsletter" won't be *as* cheesy (I hope!).

Love that idea!!

I send out photo cards every year to about 25 people. This year I made a collage one with several pics from our WDW trip. I'm can't wait to receive them from Shutterfly!

Our circle of friends absolutely sends out cards. We get tons and tons. Then, there are the neighbors, relatives far away, co-workers, etc. I ordered ours a week ago -- 250! Quite a few of our friends send out even more. It is one of the biggest line items in my Christmas budget.

I send out about 75. I only send to people who send back. Maybe it is petty, but if you don't send a card for 2 years in a row, you don't get one back.

I don't think it's petty, it's just realistic. They aren't really interested in exchanging cards. I think two years is a good rule though, because every once in a while people miss a year due to circumstances like a health crisis etc.
