that your children have outgrown? A new place opened in my area that buy clothes that are in good condition. I have kept everything so far and its hard to sell it because I keep thinking what if I have another girl? The only thing is we are on tight income and with fall coming up my daughter will need new fall clothes for school and church. I keep thinking whatever I get will help me buy those clothes and if we have another child I'll just buy more clothes then.

What do you think? Should I sell some of her clothes and see what I can get money wise to use on fall clothes for school?

Thanks for your advice!!

I put some of Maddy's nicer stuff on eBay that she outgrew....give it a shot!

A church in our area has a yearly resale that I sell my kids clothes in. I have never made less than $150.00 so it is really nice. I also kept my 1st daughter's clothes. 5 years later we had twin girls. Even though I did use some of my 1st daughter's clothes I found myself buying the twins new stuff as styles and colors etc had definitely changed. There were even clothes I look at now and think "what was I thinking" when I was dressing my oldest daughter. Unless you think you may have another one in a year or two, I would definitely try selling them. I think I used the pj's, jeans, some of her shoes and a couple sweatshirts. Other than that, I ended up buying new clothes and selling all the ones I had kept or gave them to the Goodwill. It seemed that even a little spot multiplied in the years that they had been stored.

Yes, I have sold a lot of my kid's clothes on ebay. Have gotten some really good money back too. It's worth a shot!

I have only had luck mostly with girls clothes selling on ebay. I sell her name brand items that are in good to very good condition and get a fair amount of money. I use it to buy her more clothes off ebay to resell after she is done with them. If you have a lot of items that are not name brands and a couple of name brands a good way to go on ebay is to sell them in a lot stating all the outfits it makes up and be sure to mention often the name brands, it will get the attention on your auciton easier. Watch out though ebay can become a bad habbit.

I do and have always made enough to come close to getting everything I need for the new season :cool1: I passed stuff down too at first and got really sick of the same clothes so now I just keep my absolute favorites, sell the rest, and buy new or used stuff.

I also sell a bunch of my kids clothes that they've outgrown. Mostly boys stuff b/c my dsis gets most of the girls stuff. I've done both the resale shops and consignment sales and make pretty good $$ on good condition brand names. It is a great way to earn a little extra money if you need it--and at the moment I am not planning on having any more little ones--so it also helps out with storage! I actually have about 75 items in a biannual consignment event here this weekend--So crossing my fingers to get a good return!

I saved all of my favorites among DDs stuff..just in case. The rest I put out at a yard sale..and a woman who was expecting twin girls bought most of it (I just told her to take the box for one price) Whatever was left I donted to a local womens shelter.

I sold all of DS's baby clothes (except for a few things) at the garage sale we had before we moved. I did NOT want to take all of that stuff to our new house. I figure even if I have another boy, I'll get new clothes. My mom bought enough clothes for DS to wear a new outfit for 3 weeks! She went overboard to say the least! LOL!

DH took 8 pair of DS15's outgrown jeans - all in excellent condition - to Plato's Closet, just to see what we could get for them. First off, they would only take the "designer" brands -they rejected the Levis and the ones from Old Navy. They only accepted 2 pair and for those we got a grand total of $3.60 - $1.80 a pair!

I have sold some on eBay, but since my sister had my niece, I just give everything to her now.

Is it Just Between Friends? :rotfl: That's what I do too!!!! I always make good $$$ :teeth:

I sold my kids' things on ebay and paid for our WDW trip!!! We are also starting a seasonal consignment sale here, and I am hoping to do well there. I didn't sell anything until I knew we were done having kids, and it still can be hard to part with those little things!

The one here is called Rhea Lana (a local mom started the sale in her living room and it's grown to 400 consignors and thousands of items) Crossing my fingers I do well! :goodvibes

Only keep the REALLY cute dresses or outfits that has some significance to you.....because the others will just be outdated very quickly and then some consignment stores won't even take them. And they have a strange way of getting those funny yellow stains if you store them too long anyway.

I would say keep just the bare minimum and sell the rest. :thumbsup2

We have one of those type stores near here (Once Upon a Child). I haven't taken anything there yet, but my SIL has and she said they are VERY picky. They will only take things brand new (w/tags) or in excellent condition and they only want the newest styles. I didn't realize baby clothing changed that much, but apparently it does. She said they will only take top of the line brand names (not Carter, Health Tex, Gymboree, Baby Gap or any of the Babies R Us brands). She said she did notice a few Carter pieces, but they were brand new with tags. She said she has better luck at yard sales and such.

I would save back anything special and try to sell the rest. I also tried to keep older DD's clothes for younger DD and found that I was buying new stuff anyways and by then the original clothes were out of style and harder to sell. Younger DD was built so much differently as well, there was no way she was going to wear the same pants, so I saved them for no reason.

Wow. When my kids were little, I could only afford Health Tex. That time, I thought Gymboree and Baby Gap were top of the line. What is top of the line now?

We have bi-annual consignment sales here. I put DD's clothes, toys, etc in it every spring and fall. I rarely make less that $150. I like the consigment deal better since I get 65% of the sale price and I don't have to deal with the seller or advertising.

Once Upon a Child and Plato's Closet have the same franchisor parent.
