Do you sell on Etsy?

I have an idea of a cute product to make and sell (still figuring costs and such, but it's not much).

I was thinking about selling on Etsy (maybe Ebay, but I know the costs have gotten ridiculous.

Do you do well on Etsy? How do you get people to find you product?

I just opened my etsy shop last month. I made 4 sales the first month. I think that is pretty good to start out with. My goal is 52 sales for the first year.. one a week.

Getting people to the shop is, obviously, the hardest part. I have a facebook page, I have a twitter account, and I post on the teams/forums section of etsy. I just block out a certain amount of time per day to 'market' and make connections. I've also ordered business cards and postcards that I am going to start putting out at certain places.

Also, I'm participating in a craft fair this fall. I hope to get the word out about my shop that way.

I sell on etsy!

I don't make items, I just sell vintage. I opened my shop in December and I've had 177 sales.

I wish I sold on Etsy, alas I have no talent. But, I buy on there all the time and love all you Etsy sellers who feed my addiction. In fact, I had an Etsy package in the mail today! I think it must be difficult to make your items stand out with so many sellers. My best advice is to make sure you have attractive photos of your items, and I believe the key is to "tag" your items well, using as many of them as possible so that your items come up in searches. I have seen some sellers have 14 or more "tags" for one item. I do pay attention to seller feddback before I buy, however I recently purchased an item from a small seller with no feedback. I convoed her prior and felt comfortable enough to buy and it was a good transaction. I always make sure to give feedback when I buy. There is a seller niche for almost anything but I tend to buy vintage items, goats milk soap, items that are green (fabric sandwich/snack bags, fabric produce bags, market totes made from coffee and grain sacks), gift tags, and baby gifts (homemade bibs, etc)

I am going to get off my butt and start this too. Maybe we can form a support group.

I would love to do that. Part of the biggest challenge is getting your shop up and going is marketing and advertising. And it is so hard. We could really help each other out. It would also be nice to have some moral support for those weeks when no one is buying anything!!!!

I know there is a dis'er that sells quite a bit on Etsy. I know I've purchased numerous items. :rolleyes1 Her etsy name is Pixiecrafts. I can't remember her dis names. She makes great Disney tye dye shirts. :thumbsup2

I might have to get some of those for my next trip.. I love tie dye, but it is just too messy for me to fool with myself. I don't have the patience for it LOL
