Do you Schedule HOUSEWORK?

I do. I will share, but be warned, it is long.

Monday: sheets and towels washed and put away
vacuum main areas of the house (not the bedrooms)
clean laundry area (wipe down washer and dryer)

Tues: bills and banking (every 2 weeks when hubby gets paid)
clean baths
clean all glass in the house (we have 2 huge patio doors)
clothes laundry

Wed: grocery shopping
Walgreens
Finish any laundry from Tues not completed
Oustide entry doors--I get a lot of cobwebs and such

Thurs: vacuum-living areas only--not bedrooms--they just aren't that dirty
mop
dust

Fri: baths
kitchen (this is the big day where I remove all appliance and wipe down all surfaces and front of cabinets. Also clean my appliances--stainless-with the special cleaner. I usually get up and empty the fridge of leftovers early before the trashmen come at 8 so I don't have to smell rotten food all week when I take the trash out.....LOL)

Sat: clothes if need-maybe 1 or 2 small loads
1 extra--this is the day I may use to clean out a cabinet or a closet that needs it, ceiling fans, etc. I have a rotating list for this also.

Sun: make up my menu for the week
make a shopping list for wed based on ads in the Sunday paper
baths
vacuum bedrooms and dust them

Daily I will use Lysol wipes if needed to wipe down the baths on days I don't do big cleaning. Takes me only a minute or two while I am in there anyway. Kitchen I do the dishes in the dishwasher as soon as full. I wipe down my sink each day after meals and any counter space used for preparation. I just take out the trash as i see it is full. DD is required to clean her playroom/schoolroom each night before bed so it is clean for schooling the next morning. Nothing makes me angrier than to walk out into the playroom and find the school table full of junk from the day before. Makes for a not so nice start to the schoolday. I also balance my checkbook daily in the morning via online banking as hubby has a tendency to use the ATM and not tell me.
As you can tell I also homeschool so all of this is done between her yelling for "HELP!!!!!" I have it divided to that most days are done in less than an hour including cleaning up the breakfast dishes.

I don't know if you work, but you could break it down to maybe a half hour in the morning and half hour at night. Or ask for help from the family and you should be able to knock it out in less than 30 minutes. Let your laundry days be the ones you are home or do just one load every night....something like that.

Lately I am also trying to get in 1 hour of exercise. Honestly most of my work is done before noon including exercise and homeschool. I always get a few hours in the afternoon to relax. Most every day after that though we have an activity, 3 days of cheer, piano, golf lessons, and she is thinking about adding back in horseback riding. As you can see I am busy but still get my house clean and find I still spend way too much time here on the Dis as well as other boards--mostly homeschooling ones.

My thing is not allowing myself on past 7 or 8 am until everything is done. If I get up early I do get on. Then I tell myself I can't go to bed at night until everything on my list is done.

I more schedule my DIS time so I have time to do my housework.

I always DIS on the weekdays between 5:45am and 6:30am (this is my main DIS time) I then do a couple posts while waiting for my DD to finish her breakfast (like now - we have a laptop that sits on the kitchen table). Then if I post at night, it's just a random thing that I can do here and there. All the time inbetween that I"m working either at work, or at home (housework).

Aw, crap, we're supposed to schedule our DIS time? :sad2: That's my problem...

I'm trying to schedule my housework around my DIS time and it's just not working. ;)

I don't schedule anything, but if I've got a very busy day with things I have to get done, I'll make a list and cross items off as I finish them. Some things are obvious to do in a certain order, like vacuum before dusting, but it doesn't really matter if I mop the kitchen floor or clean the bathroom first, so I tackle them in whatever order I feel like it as I move on.

My kitchen is cleaned every morning--wash any pans soaking overnight, wipe down the counters as needed, straighten anything that needs putting away, etc.

The rest of it gets done on the weekends. I work 40-50 hours at one job and anything from 0-30 hours at the other job, so there are weeks that I leave my house at 8:00 am and don't get home until after midnight two or three days, the last thing on my mind is cleaning during those weeks.

I don't schedule my housework...I clean as I go. Whatever needs doing - I do but Sundays I usually do laundry.

No but maybe I should! Maybe then I would actually clean!

I work a 40 hr week. I don't schedule cleaning, but I do a little something every day. I agree that I don't want to spend my weekends cleaning.

I throw laundry in before work and then dry it at night. I always put it away when it's dry.

If I step on something crunchy or gritty, it's time to vacuum. If I see toothpaste splatters on the mirror, I grab the windex. If I can write my name on a table it gets dusted. I don't really schedule such things, just do them when it needs it. And by that I mean, I do all the mirrors and dust everything.

Strange but it doesn't seem any easier to keep up the house since the kids are grown and on their own. The only thing missing is the clutter of toys and there is less laundry. It does help that DH and I aren't "messy" people. There's never dirty clothes on the floor or crumbs on the counters or table.

I heard that it can mildew if put away when wet. ;)

Huh. Guess I can't cut out that step then. Darn. Note to self: always dry clothes. ;) :rotfl2:

BTW, who does this: :laundy:
I don't because I don't want the birds pooping on my laundry.

YES YES YES! I live by my giant Super NAnny Like Schedule!

Every day is consistent except for the weekends! I get a majority of my work done early in the morning! while the kids were little, i used to hit the gym at 4am, while they slept and right before DH left for work, but then DH started an earlier schedule and the kids started waking tooo early! soo I ditched the gym and kicked my cleaning into high gear. (although i soo still need the gym!)

My schedule is for the entire day and I usually keep the computer online all day. Whenever i pass it or during naptime, i hop on and post once or twice, but don't get carried away :) because it's sooo easy to do!! i only hit the CB if there is NOTHING in my Subscribed Threads to answer too :)

Michelle... you were the person I mentioned in the OP! :rotfl:

All of you schedulers have inspired me. Thanks for all the great tips!

No, but when I was growing up, my Mother had a schedule (or rather I had a schedule that she dictated) and I still to this day remember it:

Mondays I vaccuumed downstairs
Tuesdays I vaccummed upstairs
Wednesdays I vaccuumed downstairs and mopped the kitchen and bathroom floors
Thursdays I cleaned the bathrooms
Fridays I vaccuummed upstairs.

My sister did the laundry and dusting. Then once a month my sister and I had to do an intensive cleaning of our rooms which included cleaning our closets, emptying out our drawers, throwing away stuff we didn't use anymore and vacumming the drawers. In reality though, I usually just wound up turning the vaccuum on at regular intevals while I read a book or magazine. :lmao:

Despite all this (or maybe because of it) I'm a lousy housekeeper. I don't have a schedule at all - I clean sporadically when the mood strkes or when I just can't stand it anymore.

Oh no, and I was so looking forward to a clean house! I guess I can't blame it on the kids, huh?
