I am really bad at keeping up with housework, due largely in part to my DIS addiction.

Another DISer mentioned to me once that she has a schedule for everything she does during the day. Does anyone else have a schedule they stick to for regular cleaning and things of that sort?

Would you be willing to share?

I know exactly what you mean because I used to be the same way. Flylady.com helped me with a lot of that. I think to follow that program completely you need to be willing to clean/organize most of your day (some disagree, I'm sure), but I took a LOT from the website and made it work for me.

Browse around the website! :)

Thanks! I've heard of that website before, and couldn't remember the name of it. I'll check it out. :)

I schedule...EVERYTHING! If I dont schedule I dont do!:confused3 :upsidedow

Mondays are cleaning days for me!!!!

ps Also a "List" writer!!!!!:headache:

I don't always have schedules. It really depends on what my week or upcoming weeks look like. I think I do have routines I follow. If I'm really busy I will put a calendar up on the wall in my kitchen with cleaning duties for a specific day in addition to my menu for dinner.

Maybe Tuesday and Thursdays I vacuum. While I'm letting my hair dry from the shower I take my lysol wipes and clean down the bathroom counter and around the toilet.

I do have a complete menu for at least a week sometimes two. Usually 3 days a week I use my crock pot so I can throw everything in first thing in the morning and let it go.

I make it a point to throw in a load of laundry before I leave the house if I'm only gone for an hour or so. I'm trying to get into the habit of turning my dishwasher on at night right before bed then while my coffee is brewing or my oatmeal is cooking I unload in the morning.

One weekend a month doesn't matter if it's Saturday or Sunday the house gets a deep cleaning by both of us.

I used to have a schedule that I kept to. Worked really well and I was able to keep my house clean and organized. To say that this flew out the window this fall/winter would be the understatement of the year. :sad2: I keep trying to get back into it and just haven't been able to. I do things, but the organization isn't there, which is driving me crazy. I got many of my ideas from Flylady and customized them to work for me.

No, I am not very organized. I clean whenever I get the chance. Between work and my youngest DD's schedule it's crazy. I'd love a schedule but I don't think I'd follow it.

YES! These are the kind of things I'm looking for! I am just SOOO bad at getting things done. When my coffee is brewing... I watch it. :sad2:

I'm checking out Flylady now... it is really quite helpful. Although I'm reading through all the beginner steps (like cleaning the kitchen sink and getting dressed  ) and just laughing while I sit here. I guess all good things take time, right?

I don't have a cleaning schedule because I clean all the time. I'm a clean freak! My 6 year old calls me the cleaning machine.

I have a little time in the morning and at lunch time to get some cleaning done. If I don't get the house cleaned by Saturday, I clean on Saturday mornings. My mom always cleaned on Saturday mornings, too, but I think that really stinks because it blows your entire weekend. So I am working hard to do a little here, a little there, to keep up with it.

Organizing and getting rid of stuff usually happens a little at a time, on Sundays. I might clean out the refrigerator, or the junk drawer or a closet. We are hoping to have the mother of all yard sales this summer, and I intend to clean and organize everything!

Not normally but the past few days I have not been able to get to any housework so I asked my SIL to take my niece to daycare (I normally watch her on the days I have off) so I can spend the day cleaning. I already have our closets cleaned out and will work on the bedroom next, followed by the kitchen and bathrooms :scared: . Hopefully I will get most of it done by lunch :headache: .

This was really hard for me to get started but I hated to spend all day cleaning when I have other things to do. I finally did a big deep cleaning and thought now Im going to keep it up because I love the look of it. At first I would grumble but then I realize the time I have to do a couple things at a time like unloading the dishwasher while my coffee is brewing.

I also have baskets everywhere. There is a big plastic container near my door where the everyday shoes that get worn like my slippers or his combat boots or my fav clogs go. I have a catch all basket for my husbands keys and change and his phone and I have another one for me. I keep another little trash can by my front door so when I'm going through mail I can trash all that I don't need to keep.

I have to go now but I'll keep thinking about easy things you can do. I really don't spend much time everyday because sometimes I don't have much time but I do try to do a little something everyday.

There were times my place would look so bad I couldn't stand it and wouldn't invite my friends over and I didn't want to go back to that.

I don't, maybe I should, but growing up, my mother had everything so rigorously scheduled, that I didn't ever want to be like that. So if something needs cleaned or washed or ironed, I do it as soon as I find the time, but not on any schedule.

I do. I will share, but be warned, it is long.

Monday: sheets and towels washed and put away
vacuum main areas of the house (not the bedrooms)
clean laundry area (wipe down washer and dryer)

More coming? Cause if that's all... I can definitely follow this schedule! :teeth:

Yes, I definitely have a schedule.

On Monday I ignore the dining room and hallway. On Tuesday I ignore the livingroom. ON Wednesday I ignore the laundry! and so on.... :lmao:

I've been terrible lately, but here's what I do when I have my "stuff" together!

Monday - Thursday I divide the house up and each day I "straighten" the scheduled area. Nothing big, just get the clutter out and make it look neat.

Here's my schedule:

  1. Monday - Kitchen and living room
  2. Tuesday - bathrooms
  3. Wednesday - Laundry (I do it all week but on Wed I get caught up and folded and put away),My bedroom
  4. Thursday - Girl's rooms, toy room, run errands(grocery store, Target, etc.)

On Friday, I have Tidy Friday and I have a list that I go down and just go from room to room cleaning.

Here's Tidy Friday:

  1. My bathroom (sink, mirror, toilet, shower, floor)
  2. My bedroom(dust, clean blinds, vacume)
  3. Kitchen(counters, floors)
  4. Living room(dust, blinds, vacume, clean entry tile)
  5. Hall(vacume, dust)
  6. Hall bath(sink, mirror, toilet, tub, floor)
  7. Drew's room(dust, blinds, vacume)
  8. Riley's room (dust, blinds, vacume)
  9. Toy room (dust, blinds, vacume)

If I have kept up the Mon-Thurs stuff the cleaning goes really quick!

I just got sick of spending every day cleaning! This works great for me and now I am motivated to get off my rear and start being good about it again!
