Do you remember ?

:thumbsup2

Now I know you are my brother (kinda). My brother Richard (Dick) graduated from LaSalle High School. I graduated from Roman Catholic HS in Philly.

He was heir apparent to #15 Tom Gola LaSalle College, NIT & NCAA Champions. So LaSalle College thought he was an easy catch. My brother did wear #15's b-ball jersey, but he went to a small college called Philadelphia Textile (I went there also).

It is no longer Philadelphia Textile, or later, Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science. It is now Philadelphia University. PU.

PU. How could they do that to us.

Do you remember:

Chickapoo joy juice.

How about when there were no rest stops but you could always stop at Stuckeys.:yay:

We did road trips when I was a kid in the 70's. We have not Stuckey's here on Long Island. To this day when I see or hear of Stuckeys it brings me right back. :)

When I was 10...my aunt & uncle took me to Mexico, we stopped at a stuckeys and I insisted they buy me an 18" toothpic strapped to a texas shaped piece of wood with "Everything is bigger in Texas" slogan painted on it.....this toothpic weighed like 2 pounds and was sharp as hell on both ends....and I NEVER DID poke my eye out with it....my neighbor wasnt quite as lucky as me though....he was an idiot!!

:worship:

When we got our 5r a little over a year ago, I talked to my brother (lives north of Huston). Dear brother, coming down to spend a few days in Conroe TX.

Then off to Brownsville, down the East Coast of Mexico toward Cancun, but not as far as Cancun.

My brother "John, are you an ostrich with your head in the sand or more like concrete". He explained the facts of life to me.

I guess I will not hit a Stuckey's in Mexico. Things change.
john

Yeah....Mexico is like no-mans land these days. Youre lucky to get back across the border alive from the sound of things!

I spent a night in the Juarez jail once. Really enlightening experience!

:rotfl:

Circuit breakers ?????????

Am I wrong or was it a dream ? Did my Dad have me put a copper penny in place of a fuse that was blown ?

If so, that had to be a 1000 amper.

john

Actually was - 1969. I was in a friend's VW ad we were rear ended my a car driven by a Mexican driver. We had insurance, but we were arrested and thrown in jail - car & our wallets were confiscated - we never saw any of that stuff again, including the VW. We sat, all 4 of us, back to back the entire night until a JAG officer got us out. Another reason I love Mexico. That and a nasty bug I caught there once, but that's another story! :lmao:

;)

Juicy Fruits.

As a kid you could get a box of Juicy Fruits for a nickel. They would last for all of the Saturday afternoon matinee double headers, at the movies. That was 3+ hours worth of chewing.

Most of the time you were prying your mouth apart to try and down another great Juciy Fruit. They were green, red, yellow etc, but they all tasted the same. Actually they had no taste.

At these matinees, you sat in the 1st row at your peril. Getting hit in the noggin with a Juicy Fruit was similar to getting konked with a Titleist golf ball.

Do they still make Juicy Fruits ??????????

Why is there 75% copper in a nickel ? By rights a nickel should be called (as a former accountant) 3 3/4 pennies.

Sorry----This belongs down with Frank's thread

john

PS: Don't sue me Frank, I am really poor. So is my wife, kids, cousins, all relatives and some friends.
