Do you remember your first ever character meal?

It was at Marketplace aboard the Empress Lily in 1993! Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy--Chip & Dale, too! It was a pre-plated meal (and no 2nds offered) that included scrambled eggs, a small Mickey waffle, potatoes, oj, coffee, and milk. It was an absolute hoot although in hindsight--it was way overpriced for the minimal meal served! :) The next year we discovered 1900 Park Fare and, as you well know, the Empress Lily is now Fulton's Crab House. . .

We stayed at the Poly and had their first character breakfast there. That was pre-Ohana. I forget what it was called in those days. Ds 2 1/2 was scared to death of all the characters that year - l988.

Minnie's Menehune Character Breakfast. . ., as I recall!

Ours was at Fultons and it was so exciting! I was with a 5 and six year old and they were blown away. Everyone waited outside until they called us by name to board. It really seemed like an old time steamboat with the character's costumes.

We didnt even know about getting characters autographs so the kids mom had to run out to a little kiosk to get an autograph book and then they brought all the characters back so the kids could get the autographs. They are teenagers now and they remember it so well.

For our honeymooon in 2000 we did Chef Mickey's for breakfast. Loved it! We also did the Villian's Dinner at 1900 Parkfare during that trip...I wish they still had it.

Ours was at Chef Mickey's in Dec. of 2000. It was our last day and we ate breakfast before going to the airport. What a send off!

Yes, our first was breakfast on the Empress Lily. It was special, we were there with our close friend Cindy and her son Jake. Jake and our son were both 5 or 6 at the time. I have the best pictures from that meal and that trip overall. Now our older two are teens and they make sure they stay out of any pictures I take now.

Our second character meal was good too. We did breakfast again at Chef Mickey's on DD 12th birthday. They made a big deal of it, brought out a big cupcake for her. My DS13 made a pig out of himself, ate so much he got sick later in the heat, and my husband had to take him out of the park.

Yes I do remember my first character meal (at Walt Disney World) ! It was last December at the Crystal Palace. We got to enter into the MK early and we were first ones into the Crystal Palace! The service was amazing, friendlier than I would have ever imagined. The food was hot and delicious and there were tons of choices! (we were first in line! ) I think I ate way too much but it was definately worth it. I got to have my picture taken with Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore. :flower: I had so much fun and it was wonderful being in the MK before the park opened. It was definately my favorite character breakfast and I can't wait to go back in October! :goodvibes

My first character meal was Crystal Palace in 1999 when my daughter was 6 months old! It was great! Tigger sat on the floor and played and played with DD and my two nieces- tiggerific pictures! I was hooked on character meals very quickly!!! That same trip we did Hollywood and Vine- I miss that one!- and Garden Grill. We've done many more since, but Crystal Palace is still one of our favorites!!!! princess:

My first character breakfast was also my children's first character breakfast during my children's first ever trip to WDW in May 2002. We ate at Chef Mickey's and it was great! We had no idea what to expect because I hadn't found the DIS boards yet and hadn't conducted much research--it just sounded fun to me. The looks on my DD and DS's faces were priceless, especially when the characters came around to the table! Great time and great memories! :goodvibes

Unless I went as a child and I dont remember, my first character meal was Chef Mickeys in 1998. We have been back about 4 more times and remains our favorite.

yup...first trip with then 4yr old DD after a great day at MK we boarded the monorail and told her we were going to a fancy grown up restaurant for dinner and she needed to sit quietly and be a good girl and then surprised her with Chef Mickeys (where of course you do not need to sit quietly ! :flower: )...she still remembers that and made us do the same thing when we took her back 4 yrs later with her then 4yr old sister !!! :wizard:

On our honeymoon in 1994 at the Empress Lilly. Back in the good old days of the Food 'n' Fun card. :sunny:

our first was on our honeymoon in 1995

we ate at the castle

can you believe we made that reservation during the week while we were there? no problem

Crystal palace (early to mid 90's) with dh. We had no idea it was a character meal. It was cold and pouring rain. We were tired and it was the only place that had seating available. The food was good and best of all it was warm and dry! :)

It was at Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge with Pooh and Friends
It was August of 1998.
It was a lot of fun, as it was just me and DH and we had a late breakfast, so we had the characters pretty much all to ourselves. No, due to the fact that those were unususal circumstances, I cannot say that it was the gold standard by which we measure all other Character meals. Others that we have greatly enjoyed have been Hollywood and Vine with Minnie and Goofy for lunch (greatly missed!), Garden Grille for lunch and 1900 Park Fare for breakfast. Now, those are the ones by which we measure all other character meals!

Actually, I take that back... it was Chef Mickey's in 1993... pretty forgetable, unfortunately!

I am not sure if this is my first or not, cause we went a lot when I was a kid, but this is my first adult one!

It was on the Empress Lilly steam boat in Downtown Disney, with Mickey, Minnie, and Donald are the characters I remember. We were on our honeymoon, it was in November of 1993. I remember they teased us and told all the couples with children to leave them with us as they left, so we could make sure we really wanted to have children! It was so much fun, but I don't remember what we ate! :wizard:

It was at Hollywood and Vine in 1999, It was breakfast and was very enjoyable. There was Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and others.
although the variety of food wasnt as great as CP or 1900 Park Fare it was a great memory. The staff played the spoons and joined in the fun.
Bring back a character meal at H&V - PLEASE!

Chef Mickeys for dinner on our first WDW trip with DD in 1999. It was unfortunately not the best experience and after this my DH decreed we would never do another Character Dinner again. We were seated in a table right by the kitchen doors, it was dark and off to the side of the "main" area. We waited forever to see characters, food was so-so and it just didn't click for us.
That being said we had Hollywood and Vine CM with Minnie and Pluto for Breakfast 2 days later and it was wonderful. The food was great! We had tons of character interaction. Pluto spent a good 10 minutes with the children in our party...playing on the floor with them, dancing etc.
It is funny because we did Cinderella's breakfast later that week and DD was all dressed up and so cute and all the Princess' just tried to fawn over her but all she was interested in was eating :lol She actually told Cinderella "Hi...I am eating right now...bye". We all laughed...oh well you never know.

Artist Point in 1997. It was Pocahontas and friends. We had no idea it was a character breakfast and none of us had seen Pocahontas. My DD 3 loved Pocahontas and Meeko. It was a nice surprise. It almost made the price worth it.

Our first was CP in 2000...breakfast with Pooh and friends for our honeymoon. It was wonderful and by far the best breakfast and coffee I had had in a long time!
