Do you read all posts to a thread before posting (inspired by a dzneprincess thread)

So, do you read all the posts (fully or at least skim throughly) before you post to a thread? So far, I have with the exception of some games where I just look at enough posts to understand the "rules". I'll admit this has caused me to not post to some threads because the number of pages is just too daunting but I don't want to "chime in" and make a comment that may have already been made or respond to an earlier post that may have already been addressed.

LisaZoe,

I am pretty new to the boards (after lurking for about a year) so I will read the entire thread before posting. Sort of the cyber version of not wanting to stick my foot in my mouth.

...if it's running to less than 20 replies or so, then yes, I would read it... I don't often respond to multi-page threads anyway, as I don't really believe anyone reads them properly.

Usually only if it is 3 pages or less.
If the thread is real long, I might just read the 1st and last pages.
If the thread is real interesting though, I will read all of it.

It depends on the time/situation...a poster may want some advice and I may feel inclined to give it regardless of what anyone says....I feel they posted a question...why not answer it.

Other times I do take the time to read the whole thing and may feel that there is still something to say, yet most of the time there are lots of people who said what I was thinking so I will refrain from voicing my opinion.

Like Dan's thread about his tree....I just replied although there were already 4 pages of replies!

It depends on the topic of the thread and how many pages it might have.:D

Depends on the thread and if it can keep me interested :)

I always read the entire thread before responding. It's mostly habit - a couple other boards I belong to will give you a "warning" if you post without reading. Enough warnings will get you kicked off. Plus, out of respect to the other posters, I feel the comments should be read anyway.

Most of the time I read all of them.

I always read all the posts before responding. But then, I also read the back of the cereal box while I'm eating breakfast! I'm easily amused.

usually

A lot of times I then won't respond if my response has been covered (but some times I'll throw in a ::yes:: )or it the thread has strayed in another direction from where I was going.

I do but I usually have four or more windows open with different threads and I move between them. So after I've read all the replies and I want to respond I'll click on 'reply to post' and switch to another window while I'm waiting for it open. If I get caught up in another post it can take me quite awhile to get back to the reply window to post my reply. Often I see 3-4 people have repsonded to the thread in between the time I opened the reply window and I actually wrote my reply and sent it. It's surprising the number of times I write nearly the same thing as a poster right above me, lol.

It's according to how many posts are on the thread. Sometimes I read the posts and don't post.:p

It depends! I do, normally, like to read the entire thread before I comment, but sometimes, when I've got something to say right away, I post first. It's not that often I do that however, and it's only really started happening lately, though I'm not sure why LOL!
