Do you put milk in your jello?

I love whipped creme on my Jello. I would mix it up and get a creamy mixture. Milk would have the same effect and less calories:thumbsup2. I also have split the jello recipe and added sourcream to half whipped it up, let it set and then poured the original mixture on top of that and allow to set. It's so good!!!

Now that sounds really good!

Never heard of this before. But I do put whipped cream on top of my jello.

We grew up pouring milk into our jello, stirring it up and eating it. We drank the flavored, colored milk at the end. Anyone else do this? The family members who do this are all French(American).

I know some people add milk to their pudding. Wondering I this is a Polish thing-so far only my Polish (American) friends do this.

My grandmother was Polish and she added milk to her jello and then my sister started doing it, but usually only with Black Cherry jello. I don't think I ever did it.

Awesome memory! Yes, we used to have milk and jello as kids.
Noticed above poster from Philly did it. We started in NE Philly and moved to South Jersey. Could it be a regional thing like glorious scrapple? Thanks!

Hi S. Jersey,
yes, maybe so, and we love our scrapple! :thumbsup2 and our South Jersey friends.

That sounds so nasty to me.

But I quit eating Jello when I realized what it's made of. Even though I'm not a vegetarian by any means, just plain old Jello grosses me out now :crazy2:.

Bethlehem PA here and YES! We put milk on our jello when we were little and my dad has taught the next generation to do the same!

I haven't had jello (green is my favorite) in years, but may have to stop on the way home today.....

No. Sounds kind of gross. We used to do the redneck equivalent. Milk over a glass of crumpled up cornbread. It was actually good.

MI here and yes polish as well. We grew up doing that to jello and pudding. SOunds yucky but it really isn't. Haven't done it in a few years since I don't make plain jello only rainbow jello now.

It's similar to whipped cream - dairy on jello. Does that gross you out?

That does gross me out, ever since I was little. It slides right off, they never quite mix. LOL I think grossed out is too strong of a word, I just thought it was not appetizing.
I do know it's a normal thing to do (whipped cream), but I've never heard of milk mixed in with Jello or pudding(after made).
I wouldn't mash up pumpkin pie and mix it with milk, but love whipped cream on pumpkin pie, so just because I have whipped cream on something, doesn't mean I want milk on it, LOL

I actually just made Jello for the first time in ages last week and I made parfaits with whipped cream for the kids and my husband, but I just had a scoop of plain Jello.:thumbsup2

Add me to the group of posters who have never heard of this and the thought kind of grosses us out. :crazy2:

I'm from Philly and now live in South Jersey and I've never heard of this. Nobody I know does it...I don't like Jello anyway. Slimy. Blech.

Me too... Jello in general is pretty awful. Adding whipped cream or heaven forbid, MILK, pushes it into "gag me" territory.

I really don't like Jello anymore........but as a kid, whipped cream on top was good. Milk.....never heard of adding it.
Girl Scout camp we did used to drink hot Jello (before it ever set). It was called Witch's Brew.

Pudding either, but my favorite way to heat pudding is hot, just as it starts to set.

Kind of unrelated, but just last night, the 8 y.o. living inside me wondered if I could mix milk with Kool Aid Peach Mango powder and make a peach-mango "shake". :rotfl:

Fortunately, the 60 y.o. ruling my mind said, "Heck, no!". :teeth:
