Do you put ID bracelet on child at parks?

Teacup princess --

I ordered some things from Artscow for our trip at the beginning of March. Now I am reading that things can take months to come. Was that your experience?

Copy places often will make a stamp for you if you like the stamp option. This would give you a range of options. They will typically also be very cheap (and no shipping).

We use the Vital ID bracelets personally. I do like the temporary tattoos... I believe that avery sells printable temp tattoo paper. So you could also make your own.

We used these at age 4 and up on wrist. (I've heard some people use them on ankle)

Fairly inexpensive even with shipping.

We put Mom & Dad's cell phone number on them.

I used these as well. My daughter wore an adult sized one on her ankle. She liked it so much that she wore it for several months after our trip. :confused3

I had used these for our trip in May..and we still use them when we go to the mall or a large gathering. DS3 does not speak clearly but does understand what they are and has even told people this is my mommy's phone number. So, I feel good knowing that he would show someone if he had to. We, too, also used them around his ankle! We also used a dog tag that was engraved w/our info. I ordered it from a site that I found by search engine...it was blue w/a truck on one side (you can choose a picture) and our info on the other. I ordered two and they came with a clip for his shoes or belt loop and was wrapped in a black rubber strap.
Good luck with whatever you decide...I know it brings a good bit of comfort just knowing they have the info on them.

This is what we did too.
My older DD has 2, one that reads "peanut allergy" with her name on it. The other has her name and DH's cell #. She wears hers on her wrist.

My little one has her name and DH's cell on hers. She wears it on her ankle.

I planned on buying the Safety Tats but my older DS didn't "like" any of the designs (he's picky :confused3 ) ...
I read somewhere about Temporary Tattoo Ink Jet paper so I headed to Michaels today...

It was $9.99 for one sheet (8 1/2 x 11) but the safety tats are about that too...

I went on bing.com and found ALL KINDS of Disney images (Mickey, Pluto, Figment, Simba, Jedi Mickey -I have a HUGE Star Wars fan!, etc.) and made them the size I wanted... underneath each one I added "If Lost Please Call: and DH & my cell numbers" ...

They look SO cool I cannot WAIT to use them! I have at least 20 on the one sheet AND, since DS#1 LOVES to get the expensive tattoos in the parks, I know I'll be saving money too :-)

I make my own. Using Microsoft Word I type out: "if lost please call:" then I list our cell phone numbers, my parents and bil/sil cell phone numbers. I copy the info six times on the same page (one for each of my kids and my nephews) and use a very small font. Then I laminate that paper at Staples and cut out each section in a small tear drop shape and punch a hole at the top of the tear drop. Then I use my daughters' rubber hair bands to attach one id to each kids shoe. I usually bring spares...they don't hold up too well if they get very wet.

My order took about 5 weeks to arrive. (Sorry, I had forgotten that). When I ordered they were doing a big promotion with the $1.99 tags/free shipping. I think they got backed-up with that promotion and orders took a long time. Hopefully, that won't be the case with your order. I was very happy with the end-product, though.

We have used Who's Shoe Child ID on each of our last trips. My son wore them on his sneakers and my daughter wore it on her sandals without a problem. We just left them on their shoes and didn't have to remember to put something on them each day. I have kept them on my son's shoes since we have returned.

We use these too! We happened to be going to Hershey a couple months before our last Disney trip so I bought them and used them on both trips. And I've used them ever since.

We used the Disney bag tags that they send to you to tag our children. We included our reservation number, resort, and cell phone numbers. We looped it around their belt loops and then tucked it in their back pockets.

Every morning we went over the low-down. "If you are lost, stay where you are. Look for a person with a Disney name badge. Show them your tag and they can call Mommy and Daddy."

Never had to use it, but it made me feel better.

Grandpa and Grandma were very worried about us losing the kids in WDW. They made the boys lanyards with folded up pieces of paper. The boys were taught if you get lost go to a CM I was afraid they would freeze under pressure and not be able to remember who the CMs were so I told them if they didn't see one to go to a Mommy with a stroller. On the outside of the tags they said My Name is ..... You could take the paper out and it unfolded (was over a foot long) and listed all of their pertinent info. I am here visiting Disney world with my family we are from (lists our hometown). Then it lists Moms Cell Phone Dads cell phone and Grandma and Grandpas cell phone and address (I guess they thought if we really lost them someone could mail them home lol. It worked out well but next time I would bring a couple of back ups. The lanyard broke on the five year olds and we had to hook it to his belt loop And the three year old liked to take out his and have everyone read it to him so it was a little worse for wear. Next time laminated a couple of extra pieces. Other than that I think they worked great. Wouldn't wash off and the boys knew how they worked.

I ordered some dog tags from Artscow.com They were inexpensive but I will warn you that since Artscow is in Hong Kong it took a little long to receive them. But for 2.99 each including shipping (they were having a sale - which I think is still going on as of 2/13/10), I do not think you can beat them. I ordered a picture book from them too and I am a little concerned that it will not get to us before going to Disney. It is taking forever.

I initially bought them to loop into the bottom of her shoe string (by the toe) but the long one is too big for that purpose. My daughter said she wants to wear them as necklaces though. I purposely did not put our names or her name on it because I thought a stranger might act like they knew her more if they knew all of our names. That might be me just being silly but that was the way I went.

They have a glossy finish on them so the pics look a like blurry but the pictures are much sharper in person. What I wrote on the back was "If I am lost, please call my Mommy at XXX-XXX-XXXX or Daddy at XXX-XXX-XXXX"

For me not bracelets but I added a tag (like a luggage tag) to their pin necklace with our family name, cell phone, hotel info and food allergys.:goodvibes

anyone know of a place to get the old school metal ones?

It sounds silly, but at Petsmart and Walmart, they have dog collar engraving machines. You can put up to 3 or 4 lines on the tag and they LAST! My kids are going to be too small (3 and 14months) to really understand who a CM is and not rub off a tattoo. I think the tags are like $5. They have circles, hearts, bones (I guess if your kid wanted to be a pirate!), and a few other choices. HTH :goodvibes

As a side note, something that we found to be very handy, ID tags for our daughters lovey. She has a stuff dog, Walt, that she got on her first trip at 11 months old. It goes every where with her. If he leaves the house, we put on a little dog collar with a dog tag that has our phone number. Only time we needed it was last year at Epcot. I was saving the spot in line for the bus while my daughter and Grandma rested on the bench. Bus came, we got on and about half way through the ride back to Pop, my daughter asks where Walt is, Total panic ensues and just then my phone rings. A lifesaver of a lady is on the next bus with Walt. Now the collar waits by the door for any excursions.
