Does anyone use Priceline to get thier hotel stay? We're planning a WDW trip the week after Thanksgiving and are wondering if we should try to priceline a hotel? Any tips?

We use Priceline a lot when just the two of us or going single...With a couple of children or more than two adults you will be in standard hotel room, not a suite.

Deals are excellent...if you want a nice basic hotel room close to Disney do a two star in the "Disney Vicinity" only for about $20-22 a night....

for a 2 1/2 star about $26 to 230...

3 star ( our favorite) is about $37-40 and these are nice places close to Disney...last two times was Sheraton Safari for $38..

Good luck...Ted

I use to do priceline.

but it does not have WDW resort - it does on occassionally have D/S and DD resorts.

so for my offsite trips it was fine.

then I brought another timeshare and now I use it to exchange for my offsite trips.

Me and DH just returned from WDW and we spent the last 3 days at the Wyndham Palace Resort and Spa right accros the street from DTD. I used priceline for the resi and I put in a bid of $85 a night. we were more than please with the accomadations and are looking forward to going back again!

Everytime I travel, to WDW or anywhere, if its possible, I use Priceline. Its the only way I can afford a "nicer" hotel (3 star) on trips.

Checkout the infomration on www.biddingfortravel.com and www.betterbidding.com to help guide you along.

I have yet to be dissapointed in a PL stay in Orlando, and only one somewhat negative experience anywhere in 5 years using them.

We have used Priceline the last 3 times we have been to Orlando. Have not been disappointed any of the times. I did do a lot of research on www.biddingfortravel.com first tho. We have always traveled with 3 of us and never had a problem with the 2 person clause.

We also use Priceline a lot for small weekend trips closer to home and have never been disappointed with those either!

Good luck!!

I agree with the other posters, have never got a bad room in Orlando, only got a 2.5 star for a few nights last year, but wuld stay at that place again with no hesitation. All the rest have been 3's. Better places than I couuld stay if I were paying rack rate. We plan to use them again this year, just waiting until after Christmas before we start bidding. bidding is even fun.

We are just going to be in Orlando one night next week and wanted something close to WDW/SeaWorld....Got the Radisson Worldgate resort!!! Looks awesome on line and DD is going to love the pool.:sunny:

This is my first time ever using Price line....So I am anxious to see how we like it!!

go for it!!::yes::

We've Pricelined twice, getting the Clarion Maingate for $26-$31. We were very pleased. It's pretty cool to spend less than $100 including tax on a three-night stay!

We have used Priceline several more times without getting the price we wanted, so we gave up and rented through more conventional means. On our last trip, we would have stayed at a 2.5 hotel if we could have won one for $35 or less, but there were none available. So we splurged and stayed at the Dolphin instead!

Personally I would not go below 2.5 stars--there are some pretty creepy 2-star hotels out there.

I've pricelined 3* ($43 in 2002) and then 2 different resort level hotels in DTD last year (Between $60-$72 per night) and haven't had a bad experience yet (had small problems but most were resolved quickly). Like another poster stated I did my homework before bidding and only bid on a level that I didn't mind staying at any one of the hotels that would've accepted my bid. If you don't like a number of the hotel reviews that you find on a particular hotel and you see on the betterbidding site that the hotel frequently accpets offers then don't bid in that level, bid up a level if possible.

I have used PL twice. Once for Orlando--got a 3star for $35 about two years ago. Very pleased and great deal!

Then this last weekend in Mpls. Got the Hyatt for $47 per night. When I went to their website where they guarantee the best price, it came up as $219 per night. I am now a priceline devotee!

Over the last few years I have used priceline for my first night in Orlando.
Doubletree Worldgate for $39 in 2000
Rosen Center for $39 in 2001
Renaissance Worldgate $45 in 2003
Gaylord Palms $95 in 2003

I have always gotten decent to great places though priceline in diffent parts of the country, and only once did I pay too much but I was overbidding trying to get a certain place.

Is the only way to go when booking priceline. We are staying at the Wyndham on International Drive for $32.00 a night. This is a solid 3 star hotel. We are spending our last night at the Sheraton Safari for 38.00 a night. If you read ALL the information on bidding for travel, and make a good strategy before you go, you will save money, and get a nice hotel to boot. If it werent for priceline and bidding for travel, we wouldnt be able to afford to make this second trip to the park this year. I highly recommend it, and anyone who has questions, pm me and I will help if I can. :grouphug:
