Do you prefer your tree

Mismatched. We have family ornaments, homemade ornaments and ornaments we have collected from various vacations over the years.

I grew up with a hodgepodge tree. When I got married I wanted a tree that looked like something out of a store - coordinated colors and designs. We had that for a little while. Now, though, I have begun to realize over the past couple of years that the "hodgepodge" trees are the ones that hold all the memories, and if I insisted on my coordinated tree there wouldn't be room for the handprint ornamens the kids will make at school or the ornaments they pick out themselves. So, bring on the hodgepodge! Memories are more important than coordinating colors.

I don't have children yet but I agree that those handmade ornaments from children are the ones with the sweetest memories attached. Many of my students (all 5 year olds) made me paper ornaments and that's mostly what's on my tree. I know I'll be saving them for next year, too.:goodvibes

I'm lazy, and single. My Christmas tree is a 3 foot tall pre-lit one with only a handful of ornaments, which don't match at all.

I like Mixmatched!

Now that's a term I like. I've been reading this thinking I don't consider my tree mismatched at all. I have some bulb sets, and a lot of various ornaments, all go on it together. I think they "go" well.

As I was decorating this year, I commented to my husband about how I wondered if my first year of students (who we figured out would be about 36 now) would be very surprised to see the ornaments they gave me hanging on my tree.

Wow you still have them! That's wonderful! Mine are just small drawings of Christmas trees and other Christmas things, and I think I'll laminate them so that they'll stay perfect for years to come. I hope I'll still have them when my 5 year olds are 36!

Laminating them is a good idea. I don't have any of the paper ones, but beaded ones, painted ceramics, etc. I keep them all and use them - probably because in college I went to an old Sunday School teacher of mine's house and saw an ornament I'd painted in 1st or 2nd grade and given to her on her tree.

I am quite H&G about my tree. I have always had a theme and it changes from time to time but it's themed and color matched usually.
