You know your limits and plan your meals accordingly?
I think this has been a problem of mine. I eat every 2hrs with no thought of how the day will end.

I find on Atkins, since you have to count carbs, it's easier to have a plan of some sorts. I try out some of the recommended recipes & make in advance the day before if time permits. I just have a general idea in my head as to what foods I have in the fridge/pantry & punch them in ahead of time to fitday.com to check on carbs. If I end up choosing something else to eat, I just change it on fitday.

I would imagine that if you are counting, weather it be calories/fat/carbs/points you would have to do some planning. Especially if you want to allow for some "treats".

I would recommend it.

Im not on any official diet plan, but Im trying to lose a few pounds. I do have everything for the day(and usually week) picked out in advance. Im also on a schedule which prevents me from cheating. If its not eating time, I dont eat(usually).

I find that I do much better on WW if I plan ahead, but I also know that I am not always good about doing so. It's especially important when I want to fit in a particular food or meal so that I accomodate for it accordingly with the rest of my food throughout the day. If only I could force myself to plan out each day more often......

I actually don't plan my food for the day...I don't know why, but I usually just eat what I want to and add up the carbs as I go. Works for me! LOL

I am with Beanie on this...I don't plan anything...I know what foods have zero carbs, so I pretty much stick with those. That is one of the things that I LOVE about Atkins, you really don't need to plan anything...if you are out and starving you can go through a drive through and pick up a piece of grilled chicken and a diet coke.

I could see how on other weight loss plans..you would need to plan out your day...I would end up eating all my points before 2pm and then starve the rest of the day...LOL

I usually plan out what I'm going to eat for the week. I've always done some sort of weekly menu before grocery shopping. I hate having to run out to get a missing item while making dinner. If I snack during the day I have a low carb bar.

I plan similar to Mattsmom. I go through my recipes before I do my grocery shopping so I know what meals I'm going to make for the week. But I only cook for dinner (and only through the week, I'm "off" on the weekends!) so I also have to plan my breakfasts/lunches. I normally eat on my way to work (toast, nutrigrain bars, etc.) and have a mid-morning snack of fruit. Then for lunch I either have leftovers from dinner the night before or a Lean Cuisine and a salad. Mid-afternoon snack is another piece of fruit.

If I plan well, I'm less likely to eat out or something I shouldn't have, so I'm all about the planning!

Wow, you all are so organized to be able to plan not only for a day, but a week. I just try really hard to eat something low in points (doing WW) for breakfast and lunch, but it has to be filling and I save the majority of my points for dinner. If I know ahead of time that we are going out, I try to figure out what I am going to eat before I get there and usually stick to it. I write it down and don't open the menu. I try to have take home menus at the house and try and look them up on WW or Dottie's Site and figure out what is the best way for me to go. I might have to try and figure out a week in advance and see how that works, we just usually have a night or so that DH has something that comes up that keeps him later at work or he has to go back out. So I'm not sure that I could keep to an actual schedule for a week (worth a try though).

I plan my main meal a day or two ahead but breakfast/lunch are more flexible. I shop twice a week and usually have some ideas in mind then if not details.
