No bashing anyone who will- Seriously Stop, We understood the rant the first time around.

I personally can't do it, doesn't feel right. I need my Black Friday rush :) What about you. Once Midnight starts its all fair game. I do miss the 4/5am openings when I was actually awake and then grabbed my starbucks after a few hours of shopping. Anyways, whats your game plan? It used to be so easy when some stores opened at 4am and then some opened at 6am-7am. Now I feel so much down time waiting and waiting. Last year I ended up shopping mostly online.

When my kids were little I was up and at em' early on BF. My girlfriends and I stood in line and chatted it up with our warm coffee and made some of our best memories.

As a side note - one of my FAVORITE stories ever was when one of my girlfriends and I were in line at Jack's (those stores are now ShopKo I think) on Black Friday - SO excited to run in and grab the "must have" doll of the year. Doors open and we all go rushing in and the lady behind my friend clipped her heels with her cart and she totally face-planted. :rotfl2: She was fine - and actually got up laughing - the lady did NOT mean to do it, was getting pushed from another person. It was no harm no foul and we still laugh about it to this day. More for the fact that she gives us crap that none of us stopped to help her but had to have that "damned Amazing Ally doll" or whatever it was. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Now? We all sit in our jammies and shop online in the wee hours and head out later if there is something we don't HAVE to have, but would like to get if we can.

I miss it actually - but I do enjoy just having it all shipped to my house and not pushing and elbowing for the "hot items". :thumbsup2

Sorry - to answer your question - I highly doubt I'll be going out on Thanksgiving - I've been scouring BF ads and there isn't anything on there I have to have....yet anyway. LOL

Great Story!! Thanks for sharing that. I loved going out with my mom, now the hours just don't work for us. I do miss it a ton!! All the family bonding time we did over some insane shopping trips before the sun came out. I mean sure, shopping in my PJs is easy. Just not as fun.

Yes, but not til 8-9pm or so, late enough that the crazies have cleared out the stores, football and dessert are over, and I can shop in a nice, quiet environment...I don't need doorbusters and I don't really need much, so it will be targeted shopping...

I don't like crowds - and really hate fighting for parking - so I've never been a big Black Friday-er. But the last few years DD14 and I have been getting up about 4am and hitting a few favorite stores like Kohls after the crazies have all done their damage and left. The stores are usually empty at that hour but still have some good non-door-buster deals left, so it's a nice shopping experience. And our last stop is always Home Depot just after their opening for $1 Poinsettias and our Christmas Tree :thumbsup2 We then go home, make breakfast, and put the tree up.

I used to go out early on Black Friday, but over the years I started doing more and more shopping online Thanksgiving morning and just hitting a few of my favorites stores on Friday morning. My son works at Old Navy, which is a few doors down from our local Target. Last year he had to work on Thanksgiving for the first time, 4:00pm to 1:00am so we agreed to meet at Target when he got off work and I would drive him home. I arrived around 12:45 am and the place was practically empty of people. I was able to get everything I wanted and didn't have to fit the crowds. I may consider doing that again this year.

Last year at Walmart, my DD13 and I had a great time shopping through abandoned buggies. We tried to get some of the sheets they have on sale every year and they were sold out immediately. We found all kinds abandoned in carts, though, along with movies, $49 8GB tablets, etc. My sister was waiting for one of those raincheck things they gave out at a different Walmart and I was able to call her and tell her I had 3 in my buggy in case anyone I knew needed one.

NO WAY IN HELL! I hate shopping to begin with, and T-day is a day that I look forward to all year...someone else cooks, it's snuggly in her house, and it's just peaceful. No way would I want to shatter that by joining the hoards of people jostling for junk.

I hate "stuff" so much, anyway, that standing in line for hours for a chance to get it...ew. Makes my skin crawl. So, no, I will not be shopping on T-day, or BF. Amazon is my best friend during the holiday season :) I am sure my mailman loves me for it, too!

Nope. I'm hosting Thanksgiving and already have DS's gifts about done. I plan to eat, drink and watch football. No driving. Will get the other things I need online or when I have a chance.

I'll shop online in the morning if there's something on my lists someone wants at a good deal.

I might go out on Friday if there's a rice cooker/vegetable steamer for a good price; mine just stopped working. Will get some Home Depot poinsettias.

Me too... wish the stores weren't opening at 6 pm. It's just a bit too early for me.

I also host Thanksgiving...not because I want to, nor because I love doing it. I actually hate it and I'm exhausted when it's over. No one else in my husband's family is willing (or able) to cook, so I get to host it by default. There's no way that you will get me out of my fuzzy slippers and drawstring PJs to stand in line for anything that evening, no matter how good a deal it might be.

I'll be at my computer on Black Friday, or Cyber Monday or any other day that e-tailers will be offering great deals.

Nope. I used to love BF shopping. All the women in my family would be at the mall (we never, ever did the toy stores or Wal Mart or Target) at least 30 minutes before they opened the doors. We had a grand time talking to each other and the folks in line. Sometimes there would be a crowd and sometimes not. We would shop until it was time to get something to eat, eat a great lunch somewhere and then head to the movies.

There was always that one thing that each of us would get for a great deal. The leather jacket that was regularly $300 for $50 or something. Now it seems like the stuff in most of the ads are not even things they carry the rest of the year and so much of it is not worth the fight.

I don't need a 70" TV. I would like a 32" or so for the living room (we have built in cabinets so it has to fit the hole) but if one is on sale, you can bet they will have it later.

I plan to spend a nice day with family and a nice evening cuddled under a blanket watching a Christmas movie--NOT in a store.

Nope! I have worked retail on BF and that was bad enough. Thanksgiving is for eating way too much and hanging out with my family.

DH and I always say we won't go out on black Friday either, but always end up needing something. We're not into the early morning rush, unless there's a must have for a REALLY amazing price, but usually in the late morning / early afternoon we venture out.

Nope. Will be celebrating the holiday with family. I do not think that Christmas shopping on Thanksgiving is necessary. I always work on black Friday. Wouldn't go near a mall on a bet!

Haven't decided yet since all the ads haven't been released.

I'm in the camp that I will go out and shop, but not until the crazies are gone. We also had success last year between 3-7 AM. Since my wife and I both work Friday, we're planning on heading out from 9:00 PM-2:00 AM or so.

Not planning on it, but if we get bored that day we might. My parents aren't coming to dinner, our friends all have other plans and my in laws need dinner to be early to get home in daylight which might leave us twiddling our thumbs after its all cleaned up. We didn't intend to go out last year on Black Friday but the mood struck and we went to Target later in the day and had fun looking at all the leftover morning deals. I think we also went to PetSmart and got some more kitty litter. :cool2:

What we will NOT do, is stand in an hour+ long line for the privilege of handing over our money. We are fortunate that our time is valuable enough that we can miss out on that 60" TV and continue to "make do" with our perfectly fine 42". I will not fight my fellow man for it, and I remain shocked at the videos of the rush you can see online (I know 99.9% of the time nothing like that happens, I just don't like it). If it were the difference between having a merry christmas and not*, well then yeah we might plan on being in line in the hopes of getting one of a limited number of truly great deals. ;)

*A note that I feel is important - we do not have kids, so we have no MUST HAVE items on any list.

Not until long after the open hours. We also had a great time shopping in abandon buggies and at the price checker stations.
