I used to always get a perm, for about 8 yers now I have not had one. I was wondering how many still do? At the present time I have a bob style hair-cut, I have thin hair, but I have decided to let it grow and see where it goes.

Only once, but it was the style at the time

I did for about 6 years. My hair has always been 'wavy' but not quite enough for the style of the day. For the past 5 years or so I blow it dry straight everyday. About a year ago my I tried a new stylist and she used a new product- Curls Rock- on my hair that was for curly hair-- it held the curl without it weighing it down. Now I can wear it curly whenever I want without a perm. But I still wear it stright most days. Most people think I got a perm when I do wear it curly.

I used to all the time just for body. I have really fine hair and need it. The past two years I've left it straight but I'm about ready to get another one. Curls are supposed to be back in this fall so it looks like a good excuse to get another one. Mind you I'm not going for the tight poodle perm, just a nice loose spiral. ;)

I did for several years before deciding it was too much...time, money, effort, everything. When it went in it was too tight, then for about a week it would be just right, then it would be too ...blah.

Now I wear it long (past my waist, almost able to sit on it), straight, and occasionally use a couple of hot rollers to put a flip in the very end. I imagine I'll get it cut one day, but it takes more than imagination to think about getting another perm. :)

For anyone wanting to wear their hair long, I found a good resource site... The Long Hair Site. Sorry, I'm not home right now so can't find the link, but I'd bet it's googlable.

I did for a couple of years in my early 20s. I had the spiral, it was the style then. I have a slight natural wave, so I don't need to add volume to my hair, however, it would be nice to wear my hair straight without using the big round brush and the blow dryer to straighten the hair. I'm thinking of perming my hair straight.

I've had a few. I hesitate to do it because my hair needs 2 perms in some of the spots, one to get the hair to the point it will take the curl and the other to actually give it curl.

The funny thing is after I turned 40 my hair started to get curly. When it is wet it has a very good curl but then the curls straighten out somewhat into just a wave when it dries. Very weird.

I might have to go check out that Curls Rock product and see what happens with that.

I have a picture scanned of me with a perm, one day when we are all down in the dumps about something here on the CB I'll post it so we can all laugh.

Needless to say, I don't do perms anymore.

I haven't had a perm in many, many years; but, I was just thinking I'd like a spiral perm. :) Maybe I'll get up enough nerve. :)

Not anymore!! I looked like Fifi the poodle with my hair permed!

I have a similar experience! Mine was stick straight. Then I had kids! Now I have a pronouced wave that gets all frizzy in the humidity here!

i use to do the spiral perms but i haven't had a prem in years--i wear my hair straight
