Do you pay to pick your seats on Delta?

Just wondered if you had to pay for seats on Delta? I have never flown them before, and we are considering them for our next trip.

No, Delta does not charge a fee to select seats. I believe that when I bought tickets in May that I was assigned seats. It was easy to change them - simply pull up the reservation and change seats to better fit your needs.

No charge for assigned seats. You should be assigned seats when you purchase your tickets. You can go online and select different seats if any are available. Some seats (exit rows, etc.) may be available for advance assignment only to elite frequent flyers. You may be able to guarantee preferred seats at check in for an additional charge.

Thanks. Do they reduce flights much? I am not familiar with them at all, but since they bought NW, they are now one of my choices.
I am looking at SW too, which comes out to be much cheaper, but we have to travel further to that airport.

They do shuffle their flight times a bit. Mine have gone back and forth by 5 minutes a few times, for some reason. If that happens to you, make sure you check your seat assignments. For one of our flights we ended up way in the back of the plane. I went on-line and just moved us up to the front. No problems.

My DH and I flew Delta last month from Milwaukee to Orlando. We were originally booked on Midwest Airlines, who was bought by Frontier, and then we were transferred to Delta.

We were not charged for picking our seats, but our flight times were changed two or three times, but never by much.

On our first flight to Orlando (we flew through Atlanta) someone at the back of the plane let out a large yell. While I was freaking out (I am a bad flier), it turns out a person in the back of the plane had a seizure. Delta did a great job reacting very quickly. Fortunately there was a doctor on board, and the person was taken care of properly! Delta did a great job with this, and it made me feel good knowing how quickly and appropriately they could act.

For those of you that had your flight time changed, did Delta email you or did you keep an eye on your flight? We're flying them for the first time next spring and recently found that one of our flights has disappeared altogether. I don't know if they dropped it due to a close connection or if it's there somewhere. I pulled up our reservation and it still shows that flight confirmed. I wonder if I should call now or just hold out for a bit to see if it shows up again.

Both. I have been watching my flights, but they have sent me e-mails before I have caught any changes myself.

dunno the answer, but could you change your question to: Pay to CHOOSE your seats. The other way just sounds nasty.

Sorry, back to the thread....
